Chapter 15 - ...I don't need your pity.

I did what Baek-Hyun asked and kept the food in the fridge. If it got cold, he'd just have to heat it up.

Plus, I didn't really want to see him so I made sure to eat up and go straight to bed. I needed to update my novel anyway, so I was busy.

Half an hour into my busy time, Baek-Hyun returned home but I wasn't aware since I was so focused on what I was doing. I kept my gaze on my screen till it was almost midnight.

"This should do." I said to myself and stood up. I stretched my arms wide and fell back on my bed. "What time is it?" Though I asked this, I wasn't interested in checking and quickly fell asleep.

Baek-Hyun opened my room door, unknowingly to me and walked up to me. He kept excreting pheromones that made me hot, subconsciously and in that moment, he kissed my lips. Though I couldn't tell what was going on since I literally passed out from exhaustion but whatever reason he had for doing that, I didn't know.

"Hyung." He called out and touched my face before letting go and left the room.

The next morning, I woke up with a back ache. This body really wasn't used to sitting for long hours.

I opened my door and scanned the living room before walking out. I didn't want to bump into Baek-Hyun.

I went straight to the kitchen and checked to see he ate just the sweet and sour port and the coconut rice. Well, it was good for me since I needed to leave early.

I heated the food and ate it. It was so delicious.

"I don't remember being such a great cook in my last life." I said to myself while moaning to the sweetness of my handwork.

Then, I noticed the note stuck on the kitchen table.

"Don't wait for me. I'll eat outside." It was Baek-Hyun's note.

Thank goodness for that. I didn't know what I would've done if we met face to face but… wasn't he going to apologise for what he did? Was he seriously going to let it all lie low without saying sorry? He practically harassed me.

I stabbed the pork with my chopsticks.

"Stupid Baek-Hyun!" I exclaimed and kept eating.

This time, I was determined to get a job. I just needed the right working environment and the right thing to do.

And as if my prayers were heard, I found the most suitable place. It was a restaurant and I was able to get the afternoon shirt till evening when the shop closed.

"Well, at least I won't see Baek-Hyun at night." I said to myself. "Hm, but seriously, what happened to Hae-won's graduation certificate? Wouldn't it be better to work as an office worker?"

I was clearly scolding myself but all that went to naught the moment I started working and to think the heavens had blessed me, I was actually being punished.

My first day at the restaurant was a complete disaster. The customers were completely discourteous and had no respect for the waiters.

And just when I thought the day was over, I had to face another set of annoying customers and guess who it was, Baek-Hyun and a group of workers.

They were holding some kind of company dinner and I discovered Baek-Hyun was the head director of a company. Sure, he was an Alpha, no surprise there.

But why did it have to be here? If I didn't know any better, I'd say he was stalking me.

"Enjoy!" I said after dropping the last of their order and stole a glance at Baek-Hyun. He wasn't looking my way and acting like he didn't know me.

Well, that was good. It was… perfect.

"Hey, director, you haven't had a drink all night." A scrawny guy said. He was quite bold, probably because of the few glasses he had downed.

"Hey, even if you're drunk, show some manners." The guy next to him said but turned to Baek-Hyun and said, "Director, he's right. You should down a few bottles. It's a Friday so you don't have to worry about being drunk and unable to go to work the next day."

Come to think of it, omega's weren't allowed to work. It was because of their heat cycle, wasn't it? No business owner wanted to risk having an Omega around and having to clear up whatever mess that'll arise because of their heat and pheromones.

Omegas were really pathetic. I guess all that was left for them in the end was marriage and nothing more.

I looked up and suddenly locked eyes with Baek-Hyun. He didn't look away but kept staring at me.

"Hey, newcomer, come clean the tables." My superior called and I turned.

"I'm coming." Not minding Baek-Hyun's eyes, I left to clean the tables.

Baek-Hyun and his people were the last in the restaurant and they were the reason we, the workers, were unable to lock up and go home.

'It's already five minutes past closing time, can you leave already?' I thought while trying hard not to gnash my teeth.

They were completely wasted and talking gibberish. This day, could it get any worse than this.

I went to start clearing the table since there were a lot of empty plates but a guy suddenly grabbed my butt.

"Wow, it's so soft." He said and squeezed. I tried everything in my power not to break his head with the plates in my hand until he said, "You have such a pretty face and body. Why not come with me? I promise to treat you nicely and even pay."

My blood boiled and I raised the plate, ready to bash it on his head when Baek-Hyun spoke,

"Team leader Han seems to be too drunk to use his senses." He said and I turned to him. "It's best if you stay home for a few days."

"What's that? I only grabbed his ass, is that any offence?"

"It isn't? That's funny, I wonder why a beta like you should care about another beta's ass."

"What?! He's a beta?"

"What? Did you think an Omega would work here for the likes of you to molest? People like you are the reason Omegas can't work." He added, glaring straight into his soul.

I bit my lip. He was helping me. Even when he did something similar a few days ago, he was reprimanding a beta. Was it okay for him to do it since he was an Alpha?

"Now, apologise!" Baek-Hyun demanded but I didn't need his help.

"Thank you for your help but I don't need your pity, nor do I need a forced apology." I said and did what was in my mind.

Instead of bashing his head with the plate, I elbowed his head, hard.

"I think this is satisfactory enough. Please, have a nice night." I smiled and carried the plates and left.
