Morning rolls around and the sounds outside wake me up. I roll over to an empty bed. Railey must have gotten up and left quietly while I was asleep. It's a school day for me so Railey is giving me a ride. Today isn't too bad though. Classes are cut short making it a half day. I completely forgot so I got help on my Magic Theory from last night. I bummed a ride home with a friend who lives along the way home so Railey doesn't have to stop her day. From the front door, I see her boots and flats are on the tile so she is home. I yell out that I'm home but there's no answer. I grab a quick glass of water from the sink and head upstairs.
The house is quiet. I wonder if Railey deals with this every day. I feel it would drive me mad. I open the door to my room quickly grasping the doorknob so it doesn't hit the wall. I'm in shock and don't know what to do. Railey, the girl who has always been a big sister to me, is on the floor bent over my bed with her pants around her knees and her shirt off, fingering herself while sucking two fingers on her other paw. I slowly close the door but not all the way to not make a sound.
I slink back downstairs to the living room on the first floor still with the image burnt into my eyes. I just flop down on the couch to think. I cover my eyes and all I can see is Railey. I roll over putting my face into the back of the couch trying to focus on anything else. I just lay there and squirm trying to get comfy but I just can't. Until I hear footsteps from the stairs. When that sound hit my ears I freeze in place. Maybe she won't see me. Maybe she'll think I'm asleep and leave me be.
I hear her stop on the steps. She sees me, but what will she do? She starts walking again but quietly. She gets closer and lightly lays the blanket from the back of the couch over me. She thinks I'm asleep and has no idea that I just walked in on her. She moves around the house doing her own thing. I listen to the noises as she moves until I start to feel myself falling asleep. I force myself up to stretch and pop a few joints.
"Well hello, sleepyhead. I didn't hear you come in. Half day today?"
"Yea, completely forgot about it."
"What time did you get home?"
I think carefully, "About 1:30-ish. Marcus gave me a ride home."
"Then you must have passed out right when you got home."
"Probably, I don't remember."
She continue walking around the house doing her thing until she talks to me again, Did you get your homework done?" I shuffle around to see her, "Half day! Nothing was assigned so it's all old stuff I finished."
"Even your magical studies?"
"I got help but yes, it's all done."
She seemed a little skeptical of me but I have it all finished. The afternoon goes by and Railey's mom comes home. She gets a quick bite and disappears to her room in the basement. Seems she's always working to keep Railey and me taken care of.
Railey's dad passed away when I was 14. Railey was 17 and she took it hard. He had been sick for over a year where patches of his fur had fallen out. Then one day he just didn't wake up. Her mother moved to the basement, I got moved to the small room that Railey was in, and Railey moved into the upstairs master bedroom because she is the largest in the house. She became cold and distant for a long while until I finally got mad at her. I cut her deep when I told her that at least she knew her father and that my last memory of my parents was being pulled out of their burning home where they were left to die in agony. She stayed in her room for two days before she finally came back out to apologize. She's been in the big sister role since then.
I snap myself back and find myself sitting at my desk in my room. The sun has gone down and I never turned the light on in my room. It's bedtime anyway. I close my door before sliding into my bed. I almost open my window when I hear the rain outside. The pitter-patter of the rain is soothing but I'm awakened by a knock at my door, "Blue? You asleep?" I kind of was but I'm aware now, "No, come in." I sit up to look at her. She comes in and sits down on my bed. I wonder what she wants. "Hm, you can't open your window because of the rain."
"Yea, otherwise it'll rain on me."
"Has that happened before?"
"It has. Storm came in the middle of the night and I didn't know it."
"That sucks." There was a long pause before she continued, "So, why did you lie to me today?"
That threw me off, "What?"
"You said you got home about 1:30 but when I came downstairs it was 1:21."
I kept quiet as she goes on, "And now I know for certain that you came home before that."
"I was tired. I could have misread the clock."
"A bird that doesn't know the time of day? That's funny. Then how about this instead; why were you pretending to sleep on the couch?"
"I…"
She interrupted, "I know this because I've lulled you to sleep enough that I know when you're asleep. So tell me, Blue, why did you lie to me?"
"Are… you sure you want to know?"
"Oh, believe me, I want to know."
"Ok, well, I got home, took off my shoes, and went to go to my room where…" I pause and look to see if she gets it. "I opened the door and you were in my room." I wait to see if she figures it out but there was nothing. "You were on the floor…"
She's either feigning ignorance or trying to come up with an excuse. "Railey, don't make me say it." I sit up straight at this point and try to get level with her face. She looks at me, "The only reason I would be in your room would be to clean." I'm going to have to say, "So you were cleaning on your knees with your shorts around your ankles?" And with the change in the look on her face, she knows that she is caught. I see her eyes widen and her face turn to panic. She covers her whole muzzle with her paw. Through the muffled voice, I hear her say, "I think I should go to bed." I go to lie back down until I hear her through the wall, "Oh my god! I can't believe he caught me masturbating in his room. I can't tell if she's crying or just whining in agony but I know she'll be fine.
