A week had passed and Reinhart's group was coming up to the border of Carlyon, but still a day away. Thanks to a breakthrough by Vexille and Reinhart in their study of the Mana Parasite, Reinhart had finally created a condenser to draw in Mana threads from the air all around them. This compressed it into large crystals stored in the devices, effectively creating rechargeable Mana batteries.
Their journey after they got out of the Mana Saturated area had gone much better, but there had been no sign of the assassins. That made everyone, but Reinhart happy. Each day without any news about them only served to put him more on edge.
Thankfully, there was some good news that bolstered Reinhart. Aldren had just returned the night before from scouting Farid's army, returning with favorable news. It turned out that there was some dissent brewing within their ranks. This had caused Farid's army to slow down in their pursuit.
