Chapter 4 - Jaguar beauty

"Who is this girl attacking me? I don't know her. This hooligan!" James whined, and Evangeline chuckled loudly, hugging him even tighter.

"Huh. It looks like there's no way out now that I have been attacked by a koala bear," James whispered, his hand already wrapped around her waist to keep her in place.

"My intuition was right. You will come rushing to the airport," Evangeline said before getting down.

"Are you hungry?" James looked at his secretary, who nodded at him and took the girl's luggage, stuffing it in the trunk of the car.

"Famished," Evangeline pouted, and James suppressed the urge to pinch her lips like he used to.

She was probably not the same girl she was four years ago. Too much happened, and even though she was still acting jolly, the way she carried herself with such authority was not something that could be gained overnight and faked.

Even though they were barely in contact, James received almost all her reports of what she was doing in the four years in Italy. That's why he knew that provoking her wasn't a good idea anymore. James looked at the girl who sat inside the car and looked outside momentarily.

"When are you not hungry? You are still a foodie after all these years, aren't you?" James murmured, and she smiled.

"Are things ready?" Evangeline asked after some time, and James hummed.

"I didn't know you were already in contact with SM for things. It pisses me off that he knew about your arrival but I didn't," James murmured, feeling annoyed by the fact.

"What can I say? He was the only one who could arrange things for me and get them done without spreading the word about my presence here," Evangeline shrugged.

James understood what she was trying to say and sighed.

"Do you seriously not want to inform your parents that you are back in the country?" James raised his brows, and Evangeline looked at the streets with a dazed expression.

Right. How could she forget about that? James was her brother's friend, and he might accidentally slip the information that will ruin everything.

Evangeline turned to the man and smiled at him with big doe eyes.

"I can trust you to not sell me out, right brother James?" She blinked her eyes innocently.

James looked at the innocent expression of the naughty and willful girl in front of him and massaged his forehead.

If her brother, who was his good friend, heard that James knew about Evangeline's arrival, and he didn't tell him, he would rush to the city first thing in the morning and grab his collar.

Her brother was really protective and possessive of her. That was also the reason why everyone was warned to stay ten meters away from her, and James was given the responsibility of taking care of things related to her since her brother moved back to the village.

James never thought taking care of her was a burden, either. He liked it. For four years, he had been missing her, aware that if he went there in Italy to meet her, she won't like it.

That was also the reason why he had asked his personnel in the airline's department to always keep a lookout for this girl called Evangeline Williams. This was exactly how he heard Evangeline was boarding the flight to return to the country.

She didn't return for four straight years and suddenly boarded the returning flight right after her graduation. James doubted her intentions of why she was coming back.

All those letters and poems that he got a picture of from her apartment weren't for nothing. She was planning this all along.

Evangeline, who was unaware of the kind of thoughts going inside Jame's mind, looked at him expectantly, and he nodded after some time with a fake smile.

"Only if you promise me that you won't get into useless fights with those elites. You know that you can't afford to mess with them, right?" James asked.

He looked at the girl, his heart skipping a beat when an involuntary cold smirk appeared on Evangeline's face. This cold smirk didn't promise anything good.

"You are right. I can't afford to mess with them directly. That's why I will target them indirectly. All I need is a way to enter this entertainment industry before I start snatching those roles from her one by one. I will make them beg on their knees for mercy and that's when I'll strike them the -" Evangeline paused

She realized that her thoughts might be sounding too cruel and James might sell her out to her family, who would take her back to their home, she cleared her throat.

"I mean, I will gain the favor of people with my good work," Evangeline smiled innocently, and James looked at her suspiciously.

"Huh, I am just back, brother James. Why are you asking about those things? How is my baby? Is she fine? Did you take care of her? Was she fed? Can I see her? She must be with you, right?" Evangeline asked, the excitement clear in her eyes, and James bit his lower lip to control his laughter.

"Seriously, Evangeline? I would've been the happiest person if you had shown even ten percent of excitement about meeting me. Can she really... What am I saying? Can that thing compare to me?" James asked, and Evangeline shook her head.

"Of course not brother. She is more important," Evangeline said shamelessly.

James -"..."

James's secretary chuckled, making him scowl even more before he glared at his subordinates, who barely controlled their smiles.

"That was mean, Eva," James said.

Evangeline shrugged.

"Well, that was the truth. How can you compare yourself to her? You should've known your place,"

As if her earlier words weren't enough, she had to pour salt on his wounds, and James narrowed his brows, making Evangeline chuckle.

"Fine. I am just kidding. Where are we going anyway? Are you bringing me to your home?" Evangeline wriggled her brows suggestively, and James smacked the back of her head.

"Hey! That was mean. I never said I want to meet the boys," Evangeline pouted, and James shook his head.

After having dinner in a low-key restaurant since James didn't want anyone to disturb his dinner with Evangeline, James made her wait outside one of the posh societies in the city so he could bring her so-called baby outside.

As much as he knows that Evangeline won't create problems on the first day here since she doesn't want to mess up her plans, he was afraid that the boys would go mad after seeing her and would take her to the club.

"Here is your baby," James walked to Evangeline, and she turned around, her pupils dilating as she looked at the beauty in front of her.

"Jaguar, my love," Evangeline rushed to the model she created herself by studying bikes and their features for eight months.

She had worked on it personally for six straight months, designing it to her liking. Unfortunately, she only drove it twice in the racing arena before she left the country for four years.

"My jaguar, ah!" Evangeline kissed her bike before sitting on it and closing her eyes.

"Helmet,"

"Where are you going, Eva?" James looked at her suspiciously.

"To announce my presence to the country," Evangeline winked, and he cleared his throat before looking at his subordinates.

"Two," he said, and they gave him the helmets.

"But, shouldn't you be like resting?" James urged her.

"Nope. I think going to my favorite club after all those years will give me an energy boost," Evangeline said, and James looked at the backseat of the bike, hesitantly.

James sat behind Evangeline with a wary expression, not trusting her insane riding skills.

Vroom! Vroom!

Evangeline accelerated the bike, and James immediately jumped down from the bike with a horrified expression.

His subordinates - "..."

They pressed their lips into a thin line seeing the scared expression on James's face, forcing themselves to keep a straight face.

"On a serious note, I feel a bit unwell. I think it's better if I come in the car," James said, and Evangeline smirked before shrugging.

"Your choice," She said, and without waiting for another word, she accelerated the bike once again and left.

James looked at the little smoke and pursed his lips with his brows knitted.

"Now that she is here, things will get hella interesting, no?" His secretary asked.

James looked at his secretary and sighed.

"I don't know about interesting things, but my work has just increased by tenfold for sure," James said before he nodded at the secretary and sat inside the car to follow his so-called friend to the club she was talking about.

"Don't pretend like you are annoyed. You and I both know how happy you are," his secretary said, and James looked out of the window.

Happy? Of course, he was. She was his responsibility, or maybe something more.
