Evangeline sat inside the posh restaurant with narrowed eyes, her tipped hat, and loose hair, making it impossible for anyone to see who she was.
"Miss, what would you like to have?" The waiter asked Eva, and she looked up at him with a polite smile.
"I would like to have some vegetable soup with fried cheese stuffed potato balls, dried Manchurian, fried rice, vegetable steamed buns -"
"I can order for myself. You just order for yourself," Alexander interrupted her, and Evangeline narrowed her eyes.
"I am ordering for myself only. Why would I order for you when I don't even know what you like?" Eva looked at him confused.
Alexander leaned back in his seat and looked at her observantly, her expression, her talking style, and everything he could.
His secretary ordered the food for him and Alexander was about to ask Evangeline about what her plans were with the acting industry to start a small talk when his phone vibrated with an incoming call.
"Brother! You have to help me!" The man on the other side nearly shrieked, and Evangeline who was checking new posts in the University's forum, hoping to see something about a particular celebrity, looked up surprised.
"What did you get your ass into this time?" Alexander asked, and Evangeline went back to her scrolling.
"I am going to propose to her. Give me some good ideas so that she doesn't say no to me," The man said, and an amused smile appeared on Evangeline's face.
Asking a demon like him how to make a girl say yes? Yes, very wise choice. Eva scoffed inside her heart.
"I don't know what you are talking about. Do you think I am the type who gives love advice to people in my past time?" Alexander said and was about to end the call when his gaze swept over Evangeline.
"I have a partner today. Let me see if she has something to say in the m-"
"What the hell?! Do you have a partner to dine with? Who is that lucky lady? Heck, if this news spread in the group, they will leave all their important schedules and fly over there to you to see the pretty lady," The man shouted, Evangeline's hand freezing in its place.
Why was this guy making it sound like this was the first time Mr. Alexander was dining with a girl?
Was it really true? Evangeline smirked inwardly, masking her expression behind her shock, and Alexander looked at her observantly before speaking. Did he see that correctly? It was probably less than a second but he felt like he saw her eyes turning sharp.
"If you had to propose to someone and ensure that the person says yes, what method would you have chosen?" Alexander asked Evangeline, wanting to observe her even more closely.
"I don't think I am the right person to ask this question," Evangeline murmured.
"Why?"
"I never needed to do that,"
"Really?" Alexander leaned forward, completely forgetting about his friend now as he captured her in his intense gaze.
"In a hypothetical case if you have to propose to me ever, what would you do?" Alexander asked, and Evangeline smirked at him.
"In that case, I would just pull out my gun and point at you before asking, 'Will you go out with me?' and if you deny it, I would shoot beside you on the wall or anything, and ask you again, but if you still deny it, I don't think I should leave you alive," Evangeline smirked.
Alexander didn't move his gaze from her and smirked.
"That's indeed a good way," He nodded before looking at his phone.
"You heard her?" Alexander asked his friend.
"Dude, who the hell are you sitting with? No wonder a girl is sitting with you for the first time. Where the hell did you find a similar psychopath like yourself?
It was a mistake calling you. I should've waited for others to come online," The man ended the call, and Alexander stuffed the phone back into his pocket.
"So?" Evangeline asked.
"So?" Alexander raised his brows.
"Would it be a yes or no?" Evangeline asked, blinking her eyes at him innocently.
Alexander took a sip of the wine that the waiter had poured for them earlier before wiping his lips with a napkin.
"It would be five guns pointed back at your head and your knees on the ground with your head yanked up by your hair for even pointing something dangerous at me," Alexander answered with a cold expression, and Evangeline nodded.
Secretary - "..." His boss was literally threatening this girl here and all she had to say in the matter was nod her head like it was the most normal thing. Shouldn't she be covering away or at least showing a hint of fear?
Then again, who knows what kind of person she really was? Most of her information has been hidden by some sources that they haven't been able to decode yet.
She was definitely not sane. Any sane girl won't propose the idea of pointing a gun at someone's head to ask them out.
Mr. Alexander's friend was right. The secretary looked at his boss and then at the girl.
This time Mr. Alexander has indeed found a psychopath like himself.
"Well, I can expect that much from the second young master of the Cane groups. It looks like I'll have to kidnap you if I develop any kind of feelings for you," Evangeline said with an unbothered smile before looking at the waiter who brought their food.
Interesting. Alexander smirked at her words as if taking notes for something.
"Hello, miss. I...uh... Can I have a picture with you?" The waiter looked at her shyly, and Evangeline raised her brows.
"But I am not someone famous,"
"You are extremely pretty and almost look foreign. Only if you don't mind," the waiter smiled shyly, and Evangeline looked at his boyish smile before chuckling.
"Sure. Come here," Evangeline took off her hat and ran her hand through her hair, catching the attention of the nearby people.
She made a small heart with her fingers and smiled into the camera with the boy.
"It's done. Thank you so much," The waiter blushed when Evangeline ruffled his hair.
"Cherish that photo, you might sell that well in the future," Evangeline winked at the boy and was about to say her name when she felt a chill run down her spine.
What the hell? Why does it feel like someone was shooting glares at them - Evangeline looked at Alexander who was glaring at her, and she smiled awkwardly.
"Ahh, I am sorry. I shouldn't have disturbed your sweet dinner time," she quickly sat down.
"Weren't you afraid of being seen with me just a few moments ago?" Alexander asked, placing her food plate in front of her, and Evangeline smiled.
"Well, I should advertise myself slowly like this, no? Like building an adorable reputation from the beginning. Besides, he was such a cute boy. How could I say no to such a handsome face?" Evangeline said.
What she was completely unaware of was that her words were only making him more angry and serving him vinegar juice rather than explaining the situation.
"Well, I am sure you won't have a problem paying for your food then. You did him a favor, you can ask for a favor too, no?" Alexander asked.
Evangeline - "..." Why are you bullying me like that.
"You are such a petty person, Mr. Alexander. You are avenging that ice cream thing, no?" Evangeline narrowed her eyes before she started eating quickly.
Alexander looked at her, confused, thinking she was eating so quickly because she was in a hurry or hungry.
However, what he hadn't expected was for her to stand from her seat as soon as she finished her food.
"Ha, I am going. It's not too far. Good luck paying the bill. Do you think you can trick me? Impossible," Evangeline flared her tongue at Alexander and walked out of the restaurant with a happy smile on her face, leaving Alexander mortified.
This was really something he wouldn't have expected. He was just joking about it, but she -
He sighed before shaking his head.
