Chereads / The Unknown Blood / Chapter 6 - Me and Mine.

Chapter 6 - Me and Mine.

We waited a few minutes in silence. The vampire was standing in a corner of the room while I leaned my head in on my arms when the door opened.

"Porshia." The vampire nodded at the woman. She was a werewolf.

"…Aeldric." The woman said. "This the one, huh? You can get started whenever. I'll let you know."

"Ah… a Luna?" I said as I nodded slowly.

Werewolves had packs that were dominated by both an Alpha who was the Lord and a Luna who was the Lady. While the Alphas have 'speech' which compels other wolfs to listen and obey, the Lunas can detect lies from peoples words. It's not something they can control… it's more like an instinct.

The woman turned her yellow eyes to me and her black hair swung as she did.

"How did you know I was a Luna?" She asked. "Or a wolf at all for that matter?"

I grinned at her. "It's pretty obvious."

"…truth…" she said slowly as she looked at the vampire- Aeldric, as I learned his name was. "Who is this man? Is he truly human?"

"That's why we called you, Porshia."

"I see. Ask away then."

Aeldric turned to me. "What are you?"

"Human." I said with a grin.

"Truth. But something is wrong with the wording. Ask him specific questions."

"Hmm…" The vampire hummed in thought. "How long… have you been human?"

"Uh…" I got lost in thought for a moment. "I don't know? I don't have parents so I don't know how old I am."

"…Truth, but again, something more specific."

"Gods, you're annoying!" I said to her.

She smiled at me coyly as she said. "That means I'm doing my job correctly."

I grunted in response.

"Why did you kill those demons?" The vampire asked me.

"They attacked me first." I shrugged.

"Truth."

"What information were you looking for in Mac's?"

I glowered at the she-wolf and said through grit teeth. "Trying to find a demon that… killed… my wife and child."

Her eyes turned gentle as she turned to the vampire. "Truth…"

"Are you completely human? Have you always been human?" Aeldric asked as he continued to be stern.

"Yes." I said with confidence.

"…Lie?" Porshia said in a confused tone.

The vampire grinned at me. "Finally we're getting somewhere!"

I looked to my left in irritation and stared at the mirror in a specific area. "The hell?" I asked in a shocked tone. "What are you doing here?"

As soon as those words left my mouth a large man came barreling through the door and knocked it off of its hinges. He stood in the door way and stared at me with shock.

"Age?"

"Uh…" I shifted nervously. "Long time no see, Isaiah?"

Isaiah ran towards me and grabbed me into a tight bear hug. "It's been so long, my brother!"

I awkwardly patted his side with my cuffed hand. "Uh, yeah… I thought you-" I stopped mid sentence. "Sorry, man."

He looked down at me with sad eyes. "It's fine… I got a second chance mate! You have to meet her!"

"Well, we're actually in the middle of something…" I said as I yanked my hand against the cuffs making them clink against the table.

Isaiah looked at the cuffs with dark eyes before turning his gaze to Porshia. "What's the meaning of this, Clear Water's Luna?"

Porshia was stunned as she bowed down in fear to Isaiah. "M-my k-king. You will have to ask Aeldric. I'm only hear to bear truth to his words."

Isaiah turned his head to Aeldric in silence.

Aeldric gulped. "We received a report that a human was killing demons inside of a gray zone. Mac's. When we arrived this man was the only one present along with the bodies of seven demons."

The wizard peeked his head around the door. "Alpha king? Do you know this human?"

I looked at Isaiah with pride. "Alpha king, huh?"

They were the king of alphas as the name stated. An Alpha King's role was to keep all of the packs aligned. He was the king and the Alphas of the packs were his lords. His word was law.

"A lot has happened, Age." Isaiah said as he turned to me. "The last couple of decades have been… challenging. After you left… I challenged the previous king and won."

"Hmm. Well I would love to meet your family, however, I have more pressing matters at the moment." I said with a sad smile.

He grunted. Probably took the habit from me. "Demons, I'm guessing? I heard your story and seeing as they were the ones that decided to attack you in a gray zone of all places it must have something to do with them, right?" He hugged me again. "I am sorry, my brother. I know the pain. But never forget: Somewhere between hello and goodbye, there was love."

I grunted. He was right. We both sighed.

"For now, this incident is closed. They attacked you, you defended yourself." He looked at the doorway. "Russo! Come and greet your uncle!"

"S-sir, you can't just-" The vampire tried to say something but was cut off by a growl from Isaiah.

"You will be silent." He ground out. "This man has saved my life more times than I can count. He's saved your SIRE'S life more times than he can count. I will not have my brother be disrespected and subjected to this kind of treatment."

"My sire?" The vampires jaw dropped.

"Yes. The man you are interrogating was a key figure in stopping the vampire/wolf war over two centuries ago."

A werewolf walked into the room with the wizard trailing behind him. The werewolf had a thoughtful frown on his face as he looked at me.

"Dad?" Russo, the werewolf, said. "He is a human. He wasn't even alive then. Why do you call him brother?"

Isaiah grabbed his son's shoulder before speaking in a sad tone. "My son, this is my late elder-sister's husband. Her fated-mate. He is my elder-brother-in-law. As for his age… well I can't really explain that as it is not my right."

I sighed.

The vampire/werewolf war lasted for 13 long years. I was a mercenary at the time so I was on whichever side paid me the most. Before one of the major battles that had happened I met Ashina- Isaiah's older sister- and we fell in love. She told me later that I was her fated mate and wanted to change me but I told her that I'm not able to change because of my… circumstances… but she marked me nonetheless. I still bear her mark to this day, on the top of my shoulder where she bit me.

Russo looked at me with shock. "Hu- Uncle…" he was surprised at how fitting calling me uncle was. "How… old are you?"

"It's hard to say." I shrugged. "I was around before the Gregorian calendar, so I don't have an exact number."

"Your uncle here is an old fucker!" Isaiah said while slapping my back with a grin.

"Anyway, Isaiah." I said. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to visit my son on my day off! It's a good thing I did, otherwise I wouldn't have seen you!"

I grunted and held out my cuffed hands. He quickly tore them off my hand without hurting me. "Thanks."

"Back to business…" he turned serious. "You looking for information? A demon?"

I leaned back in the chair and crossed my arms infront of me. "Salt Lake City, Utah. May 28th at around 730. Single demon."

"Hmm… I think Dracula is working on a case of serial murders. Along with Morgan Le Fae and Cú Chulainn. Think they had some plane walker with them, so it must be serious. Want me to call them?"

I cringed. "Nah… Drac hates me, Morgan is a bitch, and I hate Cú. Call the plane walker."

"W-why does Count Dracula dislike you?" The vampire asked as Isaiah pulled out his phone to make a call.

I turned to him. "Uh… I kinda stole a shit tone of money from him."

"Money?!" The vampire asked, Incredulous. "Just money?!"

"Well to be fair, I also killed a lot of his people. The money was just a bonus, really. I went to his castle to look around- I don't know, I was just curious about the newest vampire progenitor- and they immediately attacked me. After I killed around half of them, they stopped coming at me. I figured I was due compensation so I took half of the gold he had in his treasury."

The vampire's jaw dropped. I suppose it would be kind of shocking if someone heard about a human running into Vlad Dracul Tepes' castle and killing half of his Brood.

The vampire opened his mouth but before he could speak, Isaiah interrupted him. "I called the plane walker. His name is-"

"James Whisk."

I looked to my left quickly and saw an average looking man with short cropped hair. He was wearing a brown trench coat with cowboy boots over his jeans.

"And you must be Birger Age." James said slowly as he leaned on the table.

"Yeah? You know me?" I tilted my head at him in confusion.

"Hmm…" he hummed as he looked at me. "I've been trying to find you for a couples of days. My… 'colleagues' and I are conducting and investigating regarding a chain of serial murders. Your family was the most recent."

I felt my left eye burn. "There… are more?" I clenched my fists.

"Age!" Isaiah shouted at me in a panic. "Chill out!"

*This fucking demon…* i grit my teeth. *there were more before mine?*

"Do not. Tell me. To 'chill out.'" I said through gritted teeth. "How many?"

"A lot. We don't have an exact number. There were 18 this month if we include yours and the number keep rising every month. Last month it was 14 the month before, 10. All we know is that it is a group of people- not just demons or vampires or werewolfs, but just about anything you can think of has been involved. The family before yours we scented a Merman."

"These… numbers… are you taking about families?"

"Yes. It's always a mother and father with a newborn child." James said sadly. "Don't ask me why- I've not the slightest idea."

I took a deep breath. *I feel like a fucking teenager! These mood swings are getting worse.*

"Let's go to the other three. I want information." I said after I calmed down. "They have their people on it? What about Cú Chulainn?"

"Yeah." James said as he opened a portal. "You coming, Isaiah?"

"Hell yeah! I'm not going to leave my brother hanging!"

We stepped through the portal as I fell into thought.

*Families with a new born? Their happiness is at its peak. Does it have to do with emotions? Why would these Sups be killing so many?*

My eyes turned dark.

*Well… they'll regret hurting me and mine.*
