Chapter 18 - Discharge

Without a word, Nova squared his shoulders, his eyes locked onto Mango's towering form. He knew that this battle would be unlike any he had faced before, a test of his skills and resolve like never before.

With a thunderous roar, Mango lunged forward, his massive fists crashing against the rooftop with bone-shaking force. Nova dodged and weaved with honed reflexes, narrowly avoiding each devastating blow. But Mango was relentless, his attacks coming in a relentless barrage that pushed Nova to the brink. With every strike, the skyscraper trembled beneath their feet, threatening to crumble under the weight of their clash. With a surge of determination, Nova unleashed a flurry of strikes, his kicks blazing with energy as he fought tooth and nail against the unstoppable force of Mango. Each blow landed with precision, each strike inching him closer to victory or defeat.

But even as Nova fought with all his might, Mango seemed to only grow stronger, the metallic frame absorbing each blow with ease. It was as if nothing could stop the relentless advance of this mechanical behemoth.

"Give up, useless scum!" Mango let out, with a bellowing growl.

Shane, recollecting his resolve, effectively knocked out the other brute with the butt of his gun, and stocked it with a magazine. "You've surely got to die now."

With a flicker of determination in his eyes, Nova pressed on. He had trained for this moment, honing his skills in anticipation of an inevitable showdown.

Nova's mind raced for a strategy, a weakness he could exploit to turn the tide in his favour.

'I'm not doing enough damage...'

And then, it came to him – the skyscraper itself. If he could use the environment to his advantage, he might just stand a chance against Mango's overwhelming power.

With a newfound sense of purpose, Nova danced around Mango's attacks, leading the cyborg towards the corner of the room. With each step, he felt the weight of the city pressing down on him, a reminder of the stakes at hand.

The cyborg's red eyes locked onto Nova, his mechanical arms flexing with lethal precision. Without hesitation, Nova leaped into action, his movements fluid and calculated. He darted between Mango's towering legs, striking with lightning-fast feints and dodges.

But Mango was no mere machine. It countered Nova's attacks with brute force, sending shockwaves rippling through the air with every blow. Nova gritted his teeth, his determination unwavering in the face of adversity.

Shane then suddenly alerted and distracted Mango from his current opponent, giving time for Nova to take hold of his advantage: he dashed in and leaped forward to deal a finishing move.

"Hey, Remake. Go to Hell."

In a moment of perfect timing, Nova struck, his fist connecting with Mango's chest with explosive force. The cyborg staggered backward, its balance faltering as it teetered on the edge of oblivion. Waves of electricity seemed to jolt through the metal frame, almost as if a powerful amount of volts was shocked into Mango. With a primal roar, Nova unleashed one final burst of energy, sending Mango hurtling through the glass window over the edge of the skyscraper and into the abyss below. As the echoes of their battle faded into the night, Nova stood peering down, victorious but weary. All Shane could do was look at him with a new sense of confusion and suspicion.

"Just what exactly is this....man...."

Before anything else happened, a large man exited through the lift. "Father I am here to take you down, once and for a-" He took a look around the office. Nova and Shane peered back.

"You must be Marcel, I assume? That man just killed your father." Shane explained, observing his reaction.

"O-Oh."

"You're the one on death row, aren't you? Hi, I'm Nova. Over there is Shane."

"You seem rather positive despite just murdering someone."

"He was a real asshole, deserved it anyways."

Marcel smirked. "I like you. You have my gratitude for taking down Mango. Now, I can rid of his corrosion across this city. If you ever need something, I'd be obliged to offer assistance."

"Deal."

After shaking hands, the duo left Marcel to do whatever he wanted. They returned home safely, to a hungry, sleepy Akira expecting them in the kitchen. It seemed his passion for food outwitted the pain from his battle.

In the heart of a sprawling digital network, where lines of code danced like ethereal threads of light, there lurked a darkness that few dared to tread. It was a glitch, a flaw in the system that defied explanation, a shadowy presence that whispered of chaos and uncertainty. In the depths of this digital abyss, the glitch lay dormant, its presence obscured by layers of encrypted data and firewall defences. But even in the darkest corners of the network, it waited patiently, biding its time for the perfect moment to strike. As the digital world buzzed with activity, unaware of the lurking danger that lay just beneath the surface, the glitch stirred. It slithered through the network like a serpent, its form shifting and twisting with each passing moment. With a flicker of malevolent intent, the glitch began to spread, infecting every corner of the system with its insidious influence. Files corrupted, data streams disrupted, and algorithms twisted beyond recognition as the glitch tightened its grip on the digital landscape. And though the outcome remained uncertain, one thing was clear – the glitch would not rest until it had plunged the entire system into chaos.
