The thud of the monster's steps eventually ceases as it reaches the gate and looks at Leon. Leon also gazes back at the chunky monster. With just a quick glance Leon could tell it wasn't an ordinary Class C monster. Down at its hooves, its purple fur glowed with magical intensity that made Leon wary. It paws the ground and lowers its snout that ends with some nasty tusks. With a snort, it charges at Leon.
'What a reckless charge?' Leon thinks to himself, however, as he watches a purple glow appear in front of it, he changes his mind. 'That looks quite suspicious, I should dodge carefully before I attack' having come up with a plan in the moment he dodges the boar like monster to his right. Rolling past he tries to slice the monster with his weapon only to find heavy resistance. 'It seems like this fight won't be so easy' with his attack nullified, Leon decides to take his time and observe. Focusing on the fight, he no longer able to converse with Mr Reinhardt.
As the boar charges the young man once more, the elder watches Leon dodge to the side. This time instead of slicing, he hurls a small fireball that scorches the boar's skin. 'Looks like he has an idea on what the abilities of the Great Boar are' whiles his eyes continue to follow their movements he gestures to a servant in the shadows. "Go and bring them here" he commands as the figure disappears.
"Ha, so you have a physical and a magic barrier?" Leon smirks at his findings. The boar, having continually charged at him, changed the barrier from purple to orange. When magic didn't work on it then, Leon was quickly able to deduce what was going on. 'Now all I have to do is use the right attack for the type of barrier.'
As the boar charges once more, it eyes are lit with worry. It runs forward with a purple barrier; the man stands still. Thinking that he had finally grown tired it snorted proudly. What it didn't expect was the great bolt of lightning hurled at it. It yelps in pain. Quickly it changes its purple barrier for the orange one. The human was ready for it though, and swiftly plunges it blade into the boars hide.
With victory in sight for Leon, he begins relaxing somewhat. As he alternates accordingly from slashing to frying, the monster's vitality quickly fades. 'What's next?' Leon sighs, trying to take a quick breather. Unfortunately, he doesn't have such luxuries. The beat of wings raises his guard.
The snake like body with wings one a familiar one. Its body was much like the foes he fought on the way here, only this one was covered in scars and green. 'Is this one meant to be class B?' having faced the lightning wyverns Leon was a bit surprised. Watching the monster, with an over ten metre wingspan, begin sizing him up, Leon began to formulate his plan of attack.
'Being careful in this fight is probably the wrong way to go. If I give it the opportunity, it will slam me' with a slight shake of his head he decides 'an all-out blitz attack will have to do'.
'Roar' the wyvern seeing the change in its prey's eyes, attacks. From its mouth, a green liquid spits forth. Leon dodges the attack as he closes in, noting the ground where it hit corroding away. Not wanting to get hit by that he steers wide and slashes the monster's leg. Feeling the pain, it beats it wings to escape into the air. Around it a yellow powder is dispersed. Leon avoids it by zooming to the arenas edge and using it as a platform he pushes up to meet it. With great speed he surges towards it. Noticing him just in time, it roars. The green liquid hurtles at Leon again. Unable to dodge he pushes out his flame magic to meet it. While most of it disperses, the remnants burn at his skin.
"Ahh! Take this!" feeling the burn Leon puts in extra effort into his swing. The sword in his hand embeds itself into the monster neck. With it stuck, Leon resorts to pummelling it with his fists. The blows drop it from the air.
While the two thrash on the ground biting and striking each other, four women walk into the gallery. "Sit here Hela" Mr Reinhardt pats the seat next to him. She obliges her grandfather as the other three sit behind them.
"Haha, you don't like this do you?" Leon having grabbed hold of its neck emitted such powerful lightning that bolts were flying everywhere. The beast collapsed, twitching violently. With it unable to interrupt him, he pulls the sword out of its neck. Lifting it high, he brings it down. The great weight slices through the neck, killing the monster. 'Yes', the battle not easy in slightest had left Leon tired, bruised but also exhilarated from the downing of a great beast.
"Wow, you partner is pretty good Hela" seeing the Green Wyvern felled by a man younger than herself, Octavia couldn't help but give out some praise.
"Yes, he is quite something. Now Hela, do you want to make him your partner?" Mr Reinhardt asks Hela seriously.
"I do, but we have a fight coming up and I don't want to drain him before it" she replies gingerly, having not expected the sudden prying of her relationship.
"Stop the half-heartedness and seal it tonight. There will be other women and families sniffing him all to soon and I want him as a grandson. He is a good fit for a direct descendent of the Reinhardt's" not wanting his granddaughter to miss out he pushes her.
"Yes, grandfather" with his sudden strictness she sits up straight, her cheeks flushed red.
'He has done better then expected' the old man smiles faintly 'but now will be the real test.' The man's eyes gaze down at the monster that approaches Leon. Everyone else's eyes quickly followed.
"He is going to be fighting that" the excitement in Octavia's voice was clear as she watched the monster one and a half times bigger than Leon.
"Grandfather, you can't be serious, a troll?" Hela protests, knowing how terrifying they can be.
As it brandished its club, Hela's other sister and cousin quietly chuckled to themselves. Against a troll, the pinnacle of A class, he will sure to be humiliated. Perhaps even killed. The happy thought had their eyes glued to the arena.
'Another monster, that would make this an A class monster then, I wonder how powerful it will be. But why does it have such a short loincloth, I can see its thing?' mostly annoyed, Leon felt nothing from its intimidating steel like red muscles. Black lines ran across its body like tattoos. Gathering a huge amount of lightning and fire magic in his left hand he hurls it at the monster. The troll just stands there and takes it. 'What that did barely anything?' Leon is taken aback; he had thought it would at least hurt it.
The monster smirks at Leon as it flings its club away.
'So just because it resists my magic it thinks it can belittle me? I will do the same.' Not wanting to be outdone and his pride struck Leon also flings his sword to the side.
"!@#$%^" the troll starts laughing and speaking some foreign tongue before preparing itself.
For a second it felt like the air stood still as the two stared at each other. "Crack" Leon used his lightning to appear in front of the monster. This time he puts magic into his elbow. With incredible speed and force he strikes the monster like a jet engine that had been just released. The strike makes a crack sound, as the bones inside splinter. The monster yells out before striking Leon with his fist, dislocating Leon's jaw.
Leon heals his jaw instantly, staring back at his foe.
Seeing that the troll had also healed he strikes once again with even more force. The troll responds the same. Their fists collide with air rushing away from them. Leon is blown back a step from the exchange. As the monster chuckles, Leon re-engages with enthusiasm. The battle quickly turning into a flurry of blows. Neither side backing down. The monster's strikes were stronger. Leon was quicker.
"Haha, a brawl with a troll" the whole situation had Mr Reinhardt on the floor laughing.
As the fight continued some hundreds of blows, it seemed to be deadlocked. That was until the Troll put his own magic into his fist, sending Leon flying into the arena wall. Pulling himself out of it, Leon readies himself to re-enter the fight. Before he can, a commanding voice resounds throughout the stadium. "Alright that's enough" as the old man speaks, he cast his magic. A barrier made of light appears around the monster like a rectangular prism restricting its movements.
"Leon, you fought well, I had never thought there was a human alive that would fight a troll like that. You had this old man surprised."
"I just didn't want to lose to it." With the battles fought, Leon relaxes finally, feeling a great fatigue. Just before he goes to leave, he remembers something. "Sir, would I be able to have the cores of the monsters I beat?"
"Sure kid. Also, from now on you can call be Grandfather" the elder glints at him.
