Chapter 20 - I need you

Blair had conflicted feelings about her meeting with the strange woman. Her curiousity clouds her ability to think with a straight mind, she decided to go.

As soon as she got close to the goblin's den, suddenly, a hand latched onto hers and she was pulled into the corner.

"What the f…" she look up, sees it's the same strange woman from yesterday, and gave a sigh of relief.

"You actually came!" The woman released her arm, "follow me!" She said, glanced warily around then pull open the red rusted door in front of her and slipped in.

Hesitantly, Blair followed her and stepped into a dim lit cold abandoned warehouse.

As she strides further into the room, she notice a group of people standing around someone in the center. He seems like their leader.

"We are not prey nor are we food, earth was ours before, why not again?" The man protested, cheering followed.

He continue, "we are treated as mere nobodies and thrown out of our homes! They say we MUST adjust to their monstrous lifestyle! Who are they to command us?"

"Aye!" The audience cheered.

"We will take back our home, cause divided we fall but united we WILL WIN! Earth belongs to us and we ARE one people!"

When he ended his speech, loud optimistic whistling and cheers erupt in the room. Even as a bystander, Blair felt the strong synergy radiating within the circle of these humans.

Their leader, who Blair thought would be an old man, turns out to be a very young man in his early 30s. He wears his brown hair in a rugged style contrasting beautifully with his side burns.

He kept mingling and greeting each member with a smile till he reached Blair and halted, eyes leering over her in a slow scrutiny, "you are a new face!"

"Does it matter!" She responds coldly. The man chuckled and flashed a charming smile at her, "I am Bryan, and who might you be?" He extended a friendly hand.

Blair stared at his hand for a brief second then gave him a quick but firm shake, "I am Blair!"

"Lovely to meet you Blair!" He pulled his hand away and slipped it into his Jean pocket.

"So, you must be the typical resistance club!" Blair inquired.

Bryan nods, "you can say that, but i see us more of freedom fighters! We deserve equal respect as the rest of the creatures here!"

Blair scoffs, "you call them creatures, they see you the same. To you they are different and freaky. And so are you to them! For centuries, they've remained hidden in the shadows while you humans did nothing but ruin and kill each other! They are not your enemy and you would have had your freedom if that is truly what you are after!"

Impressed, Bryan laughs shortly, "wow, you speak in such a way i wonder if you are a human, though you look like one!"

"Don't patronize me!" Blair frowned.

"Relax, I'm not trying to, i just want to understand you, though i can't right now, but i'd love to meet you again! Maybe next meeting you will be here?" He asked expectantly.

"Don't even hope on it!" She said dismissively.

He sighed in defeat, "that is a shame, but it's very lovely to meet you, and i am looking forward to hearing more of your argument! See you again!" He started walking away.

"I said i won't be there!" Blair shouts after him.

Bryan stops and turned around to face her, he smiled brightly, ocean blue eyes beaming with something alluring, "I know you will be there!"

With those words, he left. Blair couldn't help but chuckle at his confidence, been a long time since she met someone who piques her interest like Bryan.

The strange woman approach her, "you've met Bryan, he is our leader, lost his parents to vampires and lived his entire life trying to survive! He might be young but he is sincere, we trust him and so should you!"

"I am not a human!" Blair growled.

"Yeah, keep telling that to yourself, you might actually get me to believe it!" The woman laughed, "you can call me Amy, i will see you here next week, similar time!" She walks away.

Blair sighs, "I fucking hate this city!" She briskly sail out of the warehouse.

On her way back to Damien's mansion, she noticed him entering the goblin's den. As soon as he stepped in, all the guests there rushed out as if they've seen a ghost.

Blair decided to follow him, she entered the goblin's den, the entire bar that used to be crowded is now empty and the smell of loneliness hangs heavily in the air all because of Damien.

He is seated on the stool by the bar counter, Olaf seemed tensed as he served him wine. Damien sips it in silence.

Blair approached and settled on the stool next to him, "wow!" She glance around, "I've never seen this place empty before!"

Damien ignored her but Olaf gave her a subtle shrug, kept the bottle of bourbon next to Damien, and hurriedly left the room.

"Wow, even Olaf left his own bar cause of you, you must be real scary!" Blair said.

"What are you doing here?" Damien finally speaks.

She roll her eyes and stifled a groan, "aren't you tired of being alone? You must have met your family, was is that bad?"

Damien looks up at her, blue eyes shooting daggers. He speaks through clenched teeth, "my family and my life is none of your business!"

He look away and returned to sipping his wine.

Blair scoffs, "so to you i am someone you can treat as you please! You strangle me whenever you want, tried to strip me naked, touch me and even kiss me whenever you feel like it but i can't do the same? I'm not allowed to ask any personal questions about you! And you think that's fair?" She protested.

"Can you not read the room!?" Damien yelled, bringing the glass in his hand smashing down the counter. The glass shattered, sharp pieces piercing into his skin, and blood started pumping out.

She shakes her head, "You hate me so much, i don't know why you are doing this, why you are keeping me with you!" She whispered.

Damien sighed, "please, just… leave! I need to be alone."

"Fine! Rot alone!" She frustratedly darts to her feet and turned with the intention of leaving when all of a sudden, Damien takes hold of her hand. She spin around to face him, "what now?" She asked almost yelling.

"I need you!" Damien whispered.

"What did you just say?" She leaned.

He look up, boring his eyes deep into hers and speaks with desperation, "I need you Blair!"
