Avelyn was in her room again with her little sister, their favorite song blaring on the speaker to drown out the sound of their parents arguing. It was the sixth time this month she wondered what could be the issue now.
Walking over to the door, she pushed it open slightly to listen in on her parents, "-You Always Do This Every Single Goddamn Time! " her mom shouted. " I Thought I Might Get Lucky This Time It's Not My Fault That I Never Win! " David yelled back. "Well Look What You've Done Now We're Now 5 Million Dollars In Debt!".
"There's still a way we can escape this Veronica", says David with a crazed smile on his face. "W-what do you mean", she stammered. "Well, we can move to a remote island far off from here and start over but without the kids".
Avelyn flinched hearing what her dad said not wanting her sister to hear anymore she shut the door and walked over to her bed curling up in a ball trying not to cry.
30 minutes later there was a knock on the sister's door Avelyn glanced at her sister before opening the door to see her parents standing with odd expressions on their faces.
"Avie darling, your father and I are going for a short trip we'll be back soon I've made arrangements for the both of you to stay at your Aunt's place while we're gone". Avelyn looked at her mother and asked herself what if they are just going on a trip? What if everything she just heard was a misunderstanding?
She knew in herself that it wasn't true but wanted to believe her parents wouldn't abandon her, so she just smiled and said okay.
That very night Evelynn and Avelyn carried a few of their belongings over to their Aunt's house unbeknownst to the fact that they'll never set foot in their home again.
During the following few days, everything was calm and normal Eve occasionally asked for their parents but Avelyn was quick to reassure her that they'll be back soon and nothing was wrong.
Days turned to weeks, weeks turned into months, and soon enough, it had been 6 months since their parents left them. Their Aunt started getting annoyed and kicked them out of her house.
Soon enough the sisters found their way to a shelter and spent the night. "Sis, are Mom and Dad ever coming back for us? " Eve asked sadly. Avelyn thought for a second before replying " I'm sorry Eve but I don't think they are it's been so long if they were gonna come back they would've been here by now".
It had been 3 weeks since the girls started staying in the shelter but it just didn't feel like the home they remembered, however this was the home they had. Avelyn was walking Eve back from school one day when they were about to cross a street.
All of a sudden a bright Ding Ding! was heard and Avelyn noticed the cart on the other side of the street "Avie come on let's go get the ice cream" she shouted happily as she started racing across the road.
"Wait Eve Stop It's Still A Red Light" Her words barely left her throat as she heard another beep this one from a truck that was hurtling towards her sister. She leaped towards her little sister hoping that she could at least protect her, shielding Eve with her own body as she felt the truck crashing into her she whispered under her breath
"If only we could get a second chance then we can do all the things I promised you"

Suddenly she woke up gasping for breath and sweating. "Your Majesty you're finally awake!" Avelyn still in a daze asked, "What who is your majesty", "Well you of course Princess"
