Chapter 17
Although Alex knew that every vegetable he sold was fine, he still couldn't shake off the sense of worry. However, after this successful transaction, Alex was confident that he would no longer have to fear selling anything affected by the dew of life in the future.
As he gazed at the amount of money in his account, now totaling $85,000, Alex couldn't help but sneer with satisfaction. "Huh, it hasn't even been a day, and I've already managed to pay off almost half of the debt I owe this month."
With this, he couldn't help but contemplate how to get revenge on the other party. Having access to Russell's memories, Alex was well aware of the cruelty and influence of those people. He knew he couldn't afford to be careless at all.
He feared that after today's confrontation, the other side would continue to be aggressive and target his family, which was something he couldn't tolerate. Thus, he realized that he needed to strike first before they had a chance to harm him and his family. However, he was unsure of the most suitable method to attack them.
Despite the uncertainty, Alex remained determined. "Just wait, all of you will soon face my revenge!"
Later, Alex inquired if Ethan still wanted to buy vegetables from him. After some negotiations, Alex managed to secure the same price as before, which brought him a sense of satisfaction. Due to the other party's mistake, the price that should have been low became higher, resulting in an unexpected profit.
With a contented mind, Alex unconsciously scanned the ring space and found 3000 pounds of vegetables soaked in water.
Seeing that everything appeared normal, Alex shifted his focus to the room inside the ring. He couldn't help but feel that the space was barren and uninhabited, which seemed inappropriate.
With this in mind, he decided to create his own independent wild ecological environment within the ring. He began planning and thinking about various sundry items he needed for this project.
Alex emerged from the ring room and continued his research using various professional chemical tools. His wife and children were a bit skeptical and thought he was just pretending to be an expert.
Despite the doubts from his "family," Alex remained undeterred and continued his research diligently. He worked tirelessly with the tools until dawn, and finally, he achieved success. He proudly shouted, "Ahhh, finally, I did it!"
Though he felt a bit sleepy, the success of the nutrient liquid he concocted brought him great joy. He knew that this nutrient liquid would become the backbone of his future farming endeavors.
Despite buying tons of fertilizer, he considered it only for show. The true premier nutrition would come from the nutrient liquid he created himself. Alex was confident in his concoction, even though he wasn't sure if it would work the same way as it did on Earth.
He believed that the Earth and this world shared similar characteristics, which gave him the confidence to use the nutrient liquid. Additionally, his knowledge from the chest's contents provided him with a higher level of information regarding the recipe.
Although he hadn't delved into more advanced knowledge due to time constraints, he was satisfied with the results. Considering that it would have taken him 3 months to a year to create proper nutrient liquid from scratch on Earth, his progress here was impressive.
So Alex had to settle for being content with his current nutrient liquid before attempting to research a new formula. As dawn approached, Alex felt no need to rest and sleep.
After a while of research, he finally decided to head to the farm. Ethan's men were expected to arrive at dawn to collect the goods.
True to their agreement, Alex saw a familiar elegant black truck arriving. He assisted the employees in loading the vegetables onto the truck. Once everything was ready, Alex returned home to prepare breakfast for his family before sitting down to eat. Finally, he went to bed to get some rest.
Lily, witnessing her husband sleeping in the morning, didn't know how to react. She was aware that Alex stayed up late doing things and delivering vegetables, but it still made her uncomfortable. From Lily's perspective, she perceived Alex's actions as not too serious and just for fun. Perhaps she was overly concerned and distrustful of her husband, but it was difficult for her to fully trust him, especially when he never contributed financially to support her and their child while away.
However, Lily also acknowledged that Alex worked hard and was now able to earn money in his way. This realization made her hold back her complaints and concerns, allowing her to observe the situation with a bit more understanding.
…
During the day, Alex diligently cleaned up the farming area, removing weeds and watering the plants. He also took the time to fertilize the fruit trees, particularly the peach tree, which would be ready to bear fruit next month. Alex made sure to give the new nutrient liquid he had concocted to the peach tree as well.
With nothing else left to do on his farm, Alex decided to visit his father's plantation. He inquired about whether all the vegetables had been sold.
"Not yet, there are still some that haven't been distributed," his father replied.
Feeling a little eager to help and earn more money, Alex proposed, "What if I buy them from you at a higher price?"
However, his father firmly declined the offer, explaining, "No, even though I don't earn much, it's more important for us farmers to uphold honesty and integrity. Stability is key."
Alex understood his father's perspective and sighed helplessly. He realized that his father valued stability and honesty over quick profits.
Later, Alex considered the idea of buying vegetables from other farmers at a lower price and selling them at a higher price, but he quickly dismissed the thought. He knew that he was already financially stable and what he needed was time and consistency.
Deciding not to pursue that idea, Alex nodded in agreement with his father's wisdom. Before leaving, he handed his father several large bottles filled with green liquid, saying, "You can try this as a nutritional liquid."
Curious about his son's latest creation, Greenfield's father attentively listened, waiting for an explanation.
"This is one of the advantages I mentioned. The effect is excellent for plants, and you don't need to worry because the liquid is made from natural extracts and ingredients, not harmful chemicals like pesticides or chemical fertilizers," Alex explained.
Despite the detailed explanation, Greenfield's father still seemed skeptical. He asked, "Is this true?"
Feeling a bit frustrated but understanding his father's hesitation, Alex replied, "Okay, Dad, why don't you try it on a very small scale first? Once you see the effects, you can decide whether to use it or not. But I believe you'll be convinced after trying it."
Greenfield's father agreed, "Alright, I'll follow your advice."
After giving his father some vegetables from his garden, Alex returned to his fruit farm and stored them in the ring room. He then proceeded with the usual dew of life immersion for the plants.
Later at home, while Alex was busy cooking, his phone suddenly rang. He paused his activities and saw that Ethan had sent today's payment. Alex felt delighted about the successful sale.
However, he noticed an intriguing addition to the message. Ethan not only asked Alex to provide more vegetables but also invited him to eat at his restaurant with some other people. Though Alex wasn't keen on meeting new people, he realized the importance of building a network and maintaining stability in his business. Hence, he reluctantly agreed to the invitation.
Despite these circumstances, Alex promised himself not to attract too much attention and avoid making enemies. He went to bed early after finishing his nutrient-liquid concoction activity.
The following day, Alex continued his routine of tending to the farm, weeding, and watering the crops. The vegetables were delivered to Ethan's Steakhouse early in the morning. Once done with the fruit farm, he prepared to go to town in his father's pickup truck. In the back of the truck, he had some vegetables soaked with the dew of life to give to his aunt and uncle.
Before visiting them, Alex decided to experience the luxury of Ethan's restaurant. As he approached, he couldn't help but feel uncertain about the extravagant decoration and atmosphere. Parking his battered pickup truck among the expensive cars made him feel out of place, but he proceeded inside.
The restaurant welcomed him with a grand and elegant ambiance, adorned with black, gold, and dim yellow lighting. Alex received strange looks from the other patrons, but he remained composed and confident. Despite never experiencing such luxury, he refused to let it affect him mentally.
As he walked inside, a big man in a black suit approached him politely, but with a hint of suppression and violence in his demeanor. Alex felt the tension and unconsciously released his pressure and killing intent, making those around him uneasy.
