Chapter 26: Building a Home
Regarding the farmland, the soil had become soft, and water had been provided, so it was deemed satisfactory.
With this, the next thing to consider was where to live.
Even though there seemed to be forests and mountains beyond the territory, Suie and I decided to live within the domain.
It was necessary to build a house here.
There naturally wasn't anything resembling a house in the territory.
Creating a new one would become the foundation for surviving in this domain.
Even though it may not be suitable for farmland, it was truly lonely to not even have a single dwelling.
In the current territory, there were absolutely no elements of human habitation.
I wonder how far the nearest town with people living in it is.
It's probably a distance of several days by carriage to reach the town.
When I think about it, it truly is a frontier.
Building a house was not a problem.
Even though it's a house, we'll make only what is necessary.
Fortunately, I am an alchemist, so I have an aptitude that heroes and magicians don't have when it comes to creating things.
As long as I have the materials, I can transmute and create new things from them.
"Suie, we need a house for you and me next."
"A house, huh? That's right, there's no inn here. We have no choice but to build a new one, but it will be difficult."
"We need materials. There's a small forest nearby. Let's go there. We can obtain wood there."
"If we have wood, we can build a house. I'll come too!"
Suie cooperated as well, and we set off toward the nearby small forest.
Although there wasn't much of a forest, the fact that there was a small one was good enough for me.
With wood, we can make use of various things.
After walking for a while, we arrived at the forest.
"A small forest... Is it even appropriate to call it a forest?"
"Yeah, you're right. It's strange that only this area has trees growing. Alright, let's go in. I'll cut down some trees at random."
Even though the surrounding area was a desolate land, it was a peculiar sight to see only this area filled with trees.
Although it felt strange, rather than contemplating it deeply, I needed wood first.
There was no time to think, as I wanted to build a house as soon as possible.
I wanted to quickly cut down some wood and get started on building the house.
Suie and I stepped into the small forest.
There were dozens of large trees growing only in this area, as if there was some sort of nourishment specifically for them.
I drew out my magic sword.
When I tried to cut down the large trees bit by bit, I noticed something strange!
