Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

Chapter 18: Searching for Land

The next morning, I left the inn and walked through the town.

The innkeeper surely didn't think that Sue was a magical dragon.

"Innkeeper, I have something I want to ask."

"What is it?"

"I want to know who owns the land that stretches outside the town. I want to investigate."

"For land, you should go to the Commercial Guild. The Adventurers Guild refers adventurers to quests."

"The Commercial Guild, I see. Thank you."

"Thank you, Franz-sama."

"See you later!"

In the end, Sue said her farewells. We were told that there was a guild in the town related to commerce, so we headed there.

"Franz-sama, there is a Commercial Guild here."

"Yeah, this should be it."

Surprisingly, we easily found the Commercial Guild. The Adventurers Guild had many muscular guys with swords and armor, but the Commercial Guild didn't have any muscles or armor.

Upon entering the guild, there was a beautiful receptionist.

"Hello."

Not just the Adventurers Guild, but there are many beautiful women here too.

"Um, I'm looking for land. Vast land. The larger, the better."

"Huh, when you say vast land... Do you want to start agriculture or something?"

"Not just agriculture, everything. Because I want to build a country, I need agriculture and a town, so I need a large plot of land. Is there one available?"

(Perhaps they are part of the rebel army?)

"Huh? You want to build a country? Sorry, but I find it a bit hard to understand."

The receptionist seemed puzzled.

Well, maybe it wasn't a good idea for me to say it so abruptly.

"Franz-sama is a person who will become a king. So, please prepare the land for that purpose, Miss Receptionist. If you don't, I can also turn you into ice."

"Huh? Ice?"

"Wait, Sue. It gets complicated when you speak. Please stay silent."

"Yes, I'll keep quiet."

"I am Franz. Is there any free land available?"

"The land outside is under someone's territory. In the Turband Kingdom, there are lands owned by the king and lands owned by the nobles. The surrounding area of the town is all owned by Count Kria."

"So, does Count Kria own all the land?"

"Not all of it. But there are vast areas of land that Count Kria abandoned because nothing grows there, no crops or even weeds. It's also impossible to raise livestock, and there's no rain or natural disasters. Those lands are vast and useless even for Count Kria. But surely you don't need that land, right?"
