Chapter 68 - Chapter 68

Chapter 68: The Use of Gold Ingots, Part 2

After the sale of the gold ingots, Lisa immediately began crafting something using them.

That something was an important tool: a smelting furnace.

Lisa realized that to create something better, she needed not only to improve her skills but also modify the furnace.

For the necessary materials for the furnace, she had been desiring the extra-large gold ingot for a while.

"Since we're here, should Jin come and take a look too? I've already prepared most of the materials; we just need to install the gold ingot to complete it."

"Yeah, I'll take a look. We still have time."

Saying that, I followed Lisa and moved to the workshop at the back of the store.

In the back of the workshop, there was only one partially completed smelting furnace.

So, that's the furnace that can't be made without the gold ingot...

"Wait here for a moment; it'll be done soon."

I recalled a question from a game's Q&A session: "Why does the extra-large gold ingot specifically need to be used in the furnace?" When I initially completed this quest, I wondered why the furnace needed a gold ingot.

Hence, I was interested in the developer's answer, and I still remembered it.

"The extra-large gold ingot contains more golem magic than regular gold ingots. Lisa wanted to use that power in her new design for the furnace."

Hearing that, I understood.

The gold ingots of the gold golem, in essence, could be stored as a separate item from regular gold ingots.

I briefly wondered why they weren't combined, but they might sound similar in name, they were distinct, and I understood that immediately.

The gold ingot from the gold golem stored magical power, while regular gold was just gold.

Understanding that, I grasped why Lisa had wanted the gold ingot from the gold golem.

"Done!"

While I was lost in thought about the furnace, Lisa had been working, and it was already finished without my noticing.

To complete it in such a short time meant that she had mostly finished it from some time ago.

Impressed by this, I approached Lisa.

"So, is this what you wanted to make using the gold ingot?"

"Yeah, it's the best smelting furnace I've designed. I want to make something right away... Oh, Jin, do you have something you want me to craft for you?"

"Something to craft... yeah, there is something. Something I've been desperately wanting."

In response to Lisa's question, I stated what I desired.

Her face furrowed in response to my desired item.

"This is a brand-new smelting furnace, you know? Usually, it's swords, shields, armor, and the like. Not this kind of thing."

"I'll ask for equipment next time. For now, this is what I want."

"Well, fine. If that's what you want."

Reluctantly, Lisa fetched the tools and began crafting what I asked for.

I sat in a chair and waited with anticipation for the finished product.

Two hours later, Lisa stood up and exclaimed, "It's done."

My intuition was right; Lisa had almost completed it even back then. She managed to finish it in such a short time.

"I knew my idea was right. To finish something like this in such a short time... and the final product is even better than before. I've really made an incredible smelting furnace."

Saying that, Lisa gazed at the smelting furnace with tears in her eyes.

Then, she remembered my presence, quickly wiped away her tears, and looked embarrassed.

Afterward, Lisa added some leather to make it easier to hold in the hand as the final touch. The item I requested was complete.

"Here it is, finished. Who would've thought I'd make something for the first time using that furnace...?"

"It's no problem, right? I wanted it."

Saying that, I received the item I asked for from Lisa. It was something I had endured for a long time, causing trouble for Chloe as well—a pickaxe.

Why had I wanted Lisa's pickaxe so desperately? Because her pickaxe had significantly better performance compared to others.

"However, it's really well-made. I've made mining tools several times before, but this one is on a completely different level..."

"That's probably thanks to the remarkable furnace. Well, Lisa's skills played a part too. I could sense that while watching. If an amateur used a furnace like that, they'd probably ruin all the materials."

"You really pay attention, don't you, Jin? How about trying to learn blacksmithing under me?"

"Thanks for the offer, but I'm more suited to being a user than a creator. I'll be using this shop from now on, though, so I'll rely on you then."

"Oh, turned down, huh? Well, let's get along from now on."

Saying that, we shook hands. Afterward, we left the store, planning to return with our companions next time and headed back to the castle.
