Chapter 65: Hero of the Beastmen, Chrome Part 2
After parting ways with Chloe, I headed towards Cynthia's store.
Since I had used up a fair amount of candy in the dungeon, it was fortunate that I had the opportunity to do some shopping right now.
Thinking that, I arrived at Cynthia's store, where I saw someone wearing a robe and chatting cheerfully with Cynthia outside the store, their faces not visible.
"Well, Jin-kun, welcome."
Cynthia, who rarely comes out in front of the store, noticed me approaching and greeted me.
The person who was talking to Cynthia turned around upon hearing her voice, making eye contact with me.
...Somehow, those eyes look familiar.
As I thought that, the person widened their eyes and exclaimed, "Oh no!" Then, they hurriedly passed by me.
"Um, why did that person suddenly start running?"
"They saw Jin-kun's face and remembered something they had to do. It's a pity; since they made the effort to come to the store after a long time, I wanted to chat a bit more."
Saying that, Cynthia and I entered the store together.
"So, Jin-kun, what brings you here today?"
"I came to replenish my candy supply. I've been consuming them quite a bit during training and dungeon exploration, and before I knew it, they were almost gone."
"I see. You really do love candy, Jin-kun. Most others hardly buy any."
As Cynthia spoke, she brought out a box of packaged candy from the back.
After paying for the candy, I placed the box into my [Interdimensional Box] and looked around the store to see if there was anything else of interest.
"By the way, Jin-kun, you've been working at the princess's place recently, right? What's it like?"
"Well, it's pretty normal. So far, there haven't been any issues. If I had to say, it's more valuable than the reward since I've been training with the Sword Saint and Guardian God and receiving lessons on swordsmanship and physical training."
"Getting lessons from the Sword Saint and Guardian God?"
Cynthia reacted as if she thought I was joking.
"Huh? You became their disciples?"
"It's not exactly being a disciple, but I'm learning things like sword techniques and physical conditioning from them. My sword skills were quite terrible when I started, but they've improved a lot after Sword Saint took a look."
"Getting taught by the Sword Saint is quite impressive... You know, when I first saw you, I felt a remarkable aura around you, and it turns out I was right."
After that, not finding anything else to buy, I decided to head home. As I was leaving the store, Cynthia stopped me.
"Jin-kun, can I ask you for a favor?"
"A favor? Well, you've always helped me out, so if it's something quick, I don't mind."
"See, that person you met in front of the store earlier? It seems like I forgot to give them something. Could you deliver it to their house for me?"
Cynthia asked, and since I had received a lot of help from her, I agreed to take on the delivery.
She provided me with a map to the recipient's house, and I headed to the location she indicated.
I arrived at an ordinary residential area.
Standing in front of a modest wooden house, I pressed the doorbell and waited for someone to answer.
"Hello?"
"Excuse me, I have a delivery for Chloe?"
"Huh? Jin-kun? Why are you here?"
The person who came out was Chloe, whom I had just parted with.
"Well, Cynthia asked me to deliver something... Did the map lead me to the wrong place?"
I thought to myself as I checked the map Cynthia had given me, and Chloe also confirmed it.
"This place on the map is my house."
"Chloe, what's going on? Do you know each other?"
Confused, Chloe and I exchanged glances, and a male voice was heard from inside the house.
The voice was the same as the man who had shouted in front of Cynthia's store earlier.
"You were that person from earlier. Are you indeed one of Chloe's friends?"
"Um, is it possible you're Chloe's father?"
"...Who's calling me a father?! While I briefly considered whether I should jest or not, you are correct. I am Chloe's father, Chrome. Nice to meet you."
Chloe's father, who introduced himself as Chrome, extended his hand, and I shook hands with him.
Chrome then invited me inside because it was cold outside, and I entered the house.
Inside the house, I met Chloe's mother, Elena, and inadvertently, I disrupted their family gathering.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Elena, Chloe's mother."
"Um, I'm Jin, who's been getting along with Chloe."
Feeling nervous in front of Chloe's parents, my usual way of speaking seemed to change.
Seeing me like that, Chloe laughed and said, "You're different from your usual self."
