Volume 7, Chapter Seven: The Challenge
Mitsuki's expression changed as she opened the letter and began to read.
"Hey, this is not a challenge letter! And it's from King Carlos I of Eterno!"
Mitsuki exclaimed in surprise.
"Who's that?" I asked genuinely.
"He's known as the genius tactician of naval battles," Mitsuki informed me.
"They also call him an extremely handsome man," Princess Miyabi added.
"Huh? Is he having an affair?" Aoi chuckled at Princess Miyabi.
"Come on, why would you assume that?" Princess Miyabi blushed and protested.
"Are you okay, though? Murasaki mentioned that before giving Yuuki-sama the medicine, you were planning to go to his room together. Your ears turned all red, and you said you'd go,"
Murasaki said, causing Princess Miyabi to turn even redder.
"Hey, did you really do it on purpose?" I sighed.
"No, I only added a tiny bit to his drink, an aphrodisiac. It was something my father sent, and I thought it could be dangerous. But he seemed tired, so I thought it couldn't hurt," Aoi replied.
"Then Mitsuki went all out and added a ton," Murasaki pointed at Mitsuki.
"Mitsuki!"
"Hey, you added way more than I did," Mitsuki argued with Murasaki.
"In the end, it was you who added the whole bottle," Aoi said with a calm smile.
"Well, if that's the case, shouldn't you have kept it from me?" I answered Aoi with a strained expression.
"Well, you see, I didn't really do it, and in a way, it's an accident," Aoi said, smiling.
"Oh, um, I actually dislike the aesthetic type," Princess Miyabi turned redder.
"Sorry, could you not show us your intimate and passionate relationship in front of us men who can't stand?" Colonel Kunihito got angry.
"Brother, I feel the pain too," Apolito seemed sad.
"Sorry," I could only say that too.
"Anyway, it looks like the strongest marine, Cocodouriro, is coming out," Mitsuki said as she looked at the letter.
"Huh? Shouldn't a duel be between two people?"
"It seems like they're using their forces for the duel," Aoi answered.
"Seriously?" I sighed.
Well, to be honest, it's troublesome.
With a hopeful expectation that maybe this person could help, I looked at Elder Jurojin.
"I'll just be an observer this time. I'm interested to see how you handle this," Elder Jurojin stared at me.
"Oh, right. How about Leviathan?" I asked Aoi.
"Sea serpents that are currently following us can handle around a hundred, but other sea serpents and Leviathan are difficult. It would take too much time. If anything, Wyverns could be used," Aoi answered with a serious expression.
"I see..."
I pondered.
"Mitsuki, can you get in touch with the people from Yamato's palace?" I asked. Apolito and Colonel Kunihito trembled when they heard that.
"I can, but is that alright?" Mitsuki seemed concerned.
"Yeah, sorry, sorry. I just wanted to play it safe," I apologized to Apolito and the others.
"After what we've been through, are you really going to trust the palace people?" Princess Miyabi seemed a bit angry.
"I don't trust them, but given its potent poison, it could be useful," I answered, stretching a bit.
