Volume 1, Chapter 6: Escape
I crossed diagonally between the first force of the Alexia army and Duke Kuroda's army, and crossed several mountains.
Finally, there, the Skill Escape was released.
I sat down after taking Princess Miyabi and Lieutenant Kunihito off my back.
It seems that Murasaki managed to keep up, but the other knights are lagging behind.
"You didn't betray us after all," Princess Miyabi looked at me as I sat down.
"You noticed because the Holy Tree emblem on my right hand didn't interfere with anything," I replied with a smile.
"Wow, you're observant," Princess Miyabi smiled happily.
"You should have told us from the beginning," Lieutenant Kunihito grumbled.
"If I had told you, it would have been exposed," I explained.
"I see. As expected of you, Yuuki-sama," Murasaki smiled happily.
He's so cute that I can't understand why he's not a girl.
Suddenly, I drew my sword and stood up.
Since I had already fired a shot earlier, the Gouten sword was now just a simple sword.
I could see about 300 knights on horseback, including the knights who were late with Lieutenant Kunihito, coming towards us.
"Ah, don't be on guard. We're not enemies," the knight at the head of the knights smiled and got off his horse and walked towards us.
"I'm Captain Kaga Yoshiaki. I'm the second son of the Kaga Count, and I secretly informed His Majesty when Duke Kuroda betrayed him."
He was a knight who was near Duke Kuroda.
I remembered his face.
He was in his mid-twenties.
But I think everyone here is handsome.
What kind of world is this?
"Huh? So, did Father know?" Princess Miyabi asked.
"Yes, he knew, so he put Duke Kuroda at the forefront. It would be troublesome if he were betrayed in the second wave," Kaga replied.
"But then, why were we in the front? We were supposed to be taken hostage," Princess Miyabi asked.
"Well, I was planning to help you, but... Yuuki managed somehow," Kaga laughed.
Laughing, Captain Kaga looked at me.
"Worst-case scenario," Princess Miyabi pouted.
Well, she looks like a beautiful girl, so she's certainly cute.
But her chest is a disappointment.
"Well, I was trying to find a way to help Princess Miyabi and you, but I never expected to resort to such methods. I was surprised. So, could you please put down your sword now?"
"I'm sorry, but I can't trust you," I answered while still holding my sword.
"Understood. Then, please take a look at this. Please confirm it, Princess Miyabi. It's a confidential letter from His Majesty."
Captain Yoshiaki took out a confidential letter from his pocket and handed it over to Princess Miyabi while kneeling.
When Princess Miyabi opened the letter, it only had the king's signature and a request for her confirmation.
"Is this a confidential letter?"
"Yes, it is. It's a letter from my father. He's still as casual as ever," Princess Miyabi said.
"Really? Does it have such instructions?"
"That's how my father is," she replied.
What a troubled king.
"Then, will you trust me now?" Yoshiaki sighed with relief.
"Wait, not yet. Please prove it to me once more."
"You're really suspicious, aren't you?" Yoshiaki chuckled.
I pointed to a supply team carrying goods for Alexa, visible on the road below the mountain.
"Attack that supply team and bring back the goods."
"Come on, you're kidding me," Yoshiaki said, waving his hand. He then mounted his horse and went down the mountain with his allies.
-- Several hours later, Yoshiaki and his allies returned with a large number of bags of bread, provisions, and gold coins.
"Is this enough?"
I immediately rushed forward and started eating the bread and food.
"What? Did you just want to eat?"
"Mmph, I wanted fooood," I mumbled with my mouth full.
"Don't talk while eating," Yoshiaki covered his face with his right hand, looking exasperated.
"You're still a royal, so act like one," Princess Miyabi said, looking embarrassed.
"I feel kind of embarrassed," Murasaki covered her cheeks with both hands, blushing.
Well, it's natural to be hungry.
I quickly drank water from my water bottle and forced down the food in my mouth. Then, I opened the leather bag containing the gold coins.
"You have a lot of gold," I remarked.
"Well, we can't just rely on looting during battles. We also need money to buy things," Yoshiaki replied.
As I held the gold coins in my hand, I thought to myself: "Hmm, war can be quite profitable, can't it?"
This could be a good opportunity.
