The atmosphere of the city was now dark, but the street lights and some buildings' lights still adorned the city. It was now entirely midnight and no cars and no pedestrians were on the streets or walkway.
Lying down in the pool of blood was Ryota, his black suit and white was dyed with blood around him, and the phone beside him was the only thing that gave light. His assassins didn't bother moving the body and it seemed no one saw or bothered to call the ambulance.
Gradually he began gaining his view as his eyes began to squint open, he could sense himself in the warm liquid, only when he turned his face to see what it was.
'blood..?'
He quickly stood up and fell back with his butt as he moved away, he saw his phone and could see everywhere was in total twilight.
'whose blood is that..?'
Straining his brain he remembers getting shot from the back. He quickly pulled off his suit and glanced at his chest, apparently if he was shot it would have been seen, or maybe the bullet just got stuck inside him.
Not finding any signs of getting shot, he pulled the white suit clothing and looked at the back, certainly he was shot since he could see the hole at the back of his shirt.
"what the hell is going on?"
He proclaimed audibly, after putting back just his shirt, he picked up his phone and looked at the time, it was 1:45 am.
As he got out of the alley, he walked quickly heading for his house, and coming out he saw a blue wolf with white dots around its body.
[Its eyes were red as its claws and fangs, you could see through its skin like it was some kind of spirit]
The description of the wolf displayed in his mind, looking at it now he realizes what he is staring at, a blue spirit wolf.
Short of time to think, Ryota quickly ran towards the direction he just came out, the wolf was hunting after its prey. It wouldn't take a brainiac to figure the wolf wasn't cordial just by looking at it, one can tell you're the prey and the wolf is the predator.
As he kept on running, he made a left turn and the wolf did the same. But after turning, the wolf could no longer find Ryota anywhere, it was like the prey just vanished into thin air.
After the long wait, it finally walked away, unknown to the spirit wolf, Ryota was Inside the trash disposal. He turned his cell phone on and began scouring for a novel.
'what is going on, how was that thing real'
He thought as he searched for the name, "birth of the villain", he found no results, instead he kept on seeing, this work never existed.
Questions pilled up in his head, how was he alive? How was the spirit wolf real? was it the old woman he saw? the last question stole his complete attention. Of course, he remembers the old woman asking if he wants to be a character in the book, but he refused.
And then he recalled the old woman saying something else, "Tell me, boy, what if the novel came to you". He scrammed his head, no way could an ordinary old woman do this, but he also couldn't deny the fact of what he saw, there was only one way to find out if the novel came to him or if he entered the novel, and that was tomorrow.
[Quirk Street 7:34 am]
The moving and horns of cars resonated around the city, Ryota shot his eyes open at the noise and saw himself inside the trash disposal.
Before he got out, he looked around to find any sign of the blue spirit, and lucky for him there was nothing there. With the assurance, he got out and left the alley for good this time.
He halted a taxi and got in, gave the driver some tips and the car began to move. The driver looked at his clothing and saw the signs of blood, this sight caused him to ask questions.
"did you get in a run with one of the spirits?"
Ryota's eyes dilated, on a normal day he would have been thinking the driver was also reading the same novel as he was, but after his last night encounter, he couldn't tell the difference between reality and fantasy.
"what do you mean by the spirits ?" He questioned but the driver didn't answer his question, instead, he began boosting about how strong of a cultivator his son was.
"you know my son is like your age, but he has mastered the fire Cultivation, he can handle himself if a spirit appears."
Now Ryota's mind was picking up the broken pieces, fire Cultivation [2] and spirits [1] were terms used in the novel, he asked what city he was in, and the driver replied Quirk city [3], another broken piece, the last piece he just needed was given to him by the driver.
"Even I dominated water Cultivation"
He boosted, and in the next moment, he created water from nothing but mid-air as he began controlling it with his hand.[4]
Ryota's heart began thumping, placing the whole piece together he got the complete piece he wanted.
"the novel came to me"
"what, what did you say?"
"stop the car"
The driver did as he was told and pulled over, to him he thought he had blown Ryota's mind by using his Cultivation, like when a non-cultivar sees a cultivar using Cultivation, but when he looked outside the window, he saw Ryota was already at his desired terminus since he was entering a building.
As he slammed his door, he didn't bother taking off the bloodied clothes. He sat on the stairs. Since he was alone, with no parents, both died in a plane crash when he was six. He placed his palms on his cheeks and began thinking of probabilities.
If the spirits and a cultivar exist, then there could be possibilities that the characters in the novel also exist, but he was still uncertain, one thing like he once said back at the subway.
'the novel is too hazardous, if the existences in it are here, we will all be enslaved'
He opened his phone again and searched for the novel, but the same results, this work never existed. He thought within himself if he also possess one of those powers.
With time, he thought. With time he would find out if the gods and demons and mostly the characters, and with time he would know if they exist. But there was one thing he was certain of.
'if the world has mutated into a novel, I won't hesitate to erase all of mankind'
