Once again Enyo was sat inside of a room alone.
At least this time it wasn't a holding cell.
That spark by the name of Kyle had been pretty frustrated with Enyo's attempted explanation of his sudden appearance and status as a spark. Ultimately giving up on receiving any more information from him, he made a call to a superior.
This led to Enyo being seated in this weird room by his lonesome waiting on someone to come and talk to him. He had been given transport into the city and was walked into a very tall building that seemed to be some type of official government base.
It was unfortunate he couldn't see outside of the car's windows to witness the view from inside of the walls once again like he had done when he was younger.
It didn't matter anyways though. Enyo was too anxious to lament on those feelings.
Right now he could only worry about what they'd do to him. Is it some kind of problem that he jumped into the gate? He obviously didn't wish to talk about the new power he got either. Or the strange quest he hadn't gotten the chance to inspect yet.
Thinking of that, he was suddenly reminded he didn't get the time to inspect his new soul cards and power level yet. Though, the sudden hope of finally getting enough alone time to do so was ripped from him in the next instant.
Opening the door and walking into the room was a young woman who looked about twenty years old and gave off a suppressive aura making Enyo feel quite uncomfortable. She had a petite figure and long blonde hair that seemed to reach her waist.
She sat down opposite to Enyo and introduced herself.
"Hello, I am Ignited Stella. I will be questioning you on a few things today, I hope you don't mind. I will also take this opportunity to educate you a little on the way sparks integrate into society without causing problems and the different opportunities you have now acquired. So, what's your name young man?"
"Enyo." He replied flatly.
"Nice to meet you, Enyo. I can tell you're not the type to exchange pleasantries with others so let's get into it right away. How did you ignite your soul and become a spark?"
Answering carefully Enyo decided it would be best to tell the truth about it since he wasn't even aware how people ignited their souls nowadays.
"I was running from a corrupted creature that tore down my house and jumped into the river whilst fleeing. I ended up jumping into the gate by accident. Will I receive compensation for my house?"
Looking at the teenager quite confused Ignited Stella decided to inquire more about the situation.
"Those creatures weren't that big nor were they that powerful how did they tear down your entire house Enyo."
Realizing she seemed quite suspicious Enyo began to feel a little embarrassed and flushed red hot.
"It wasn't too big of a house. I'm very humble after all."
Giving him a sweet smile, she agreed.
"I'm sure you are Enyo. Now can you tell me where you appeared in the other plane? What the landscape was like and any corrupted you came across. I would also appreciate a recount of any special features you found them to possess also. Although since you're alive I can only assume they were very weak and possessed very mediocre abilities."
Hearing these questions Enyo just began to recount his entire journey. Starting from his entrance into the other plane all the way until the cave. He decided to leave out the part of killing the numerous unborn serpents and the juvenile king since he was paranoid of the fortune he just acquired being stolen before he could gauge the price for such a thing.
Taking it all in the young woman sat there for a moment with a thoughtful expression.
"It seems you're very lucky. Not many survive entering the other plane even when they have no survival and battle experience. But here you are with neither and you still came out on top. You're especially lucky you survived what I suspect to be a lair for some type of corrupted creature. Presumable the serpent species you saw at the riverbank. Either way if you had stumbled onto anything in that lair, you'd definitely be dead right now."
Enyo was not reassured at all! He definitely already understood how dangerous the situation was and honestly even he was contemplating if he was actually already dead, maybe he was just making things up in his own mind whilst he lay on the ground suffering from an excruciating death caused by the serpent's venom.
Thinking of such a dreadful thought Enyo visibly shivered which caused Stella to raise an eyebrow. She brushed it off though and just assumed he was quite traumatized by the experience like everyone else had been after leaving their first encounter with the other plane.
"Enyo before I ask more questions and begin to educate you afterwards, I'd like to ask you something. Have you ever heard a certain rumor, that people who have ignited their souls and acquired the system seemed to believe that their systems have unique personalities?"
"Yes, I have heard something like that." He replied a little confused as to why she would ask something like that.
"Well Enyo, to be honest with you it is true in a way."
"What!" Enyo couldn't contain himself. How wonderous would it be if a system had a personality and felt predisposed to help you? You could gain endless benefits!
"Let me finish first." She said with a stern look that seemed to make Enyo freeze in place.
"It's true in the way that people really believe their own systems have a personality. Though they don't. This life is not friendly and kind. It isn't just about making lots of money and being respected. Alot of people break. They cannot handle this lifestyle. Their 'systems personality' is nothing more than their own delusions. To make it worse it seems that people who are picked to be transported to the other plane seem to have an uncanny affinity for mental illness." She said somberly.
It was like Enyo ignored most of what she said and only focused on a particular thing.
"Wait, picked? What do you mean they're picked to be transported?"
"Well to tell you the truth, with our understanding of the other plane currently we believe that the other plane will choose who will enter or we choose if we're capable of entering. It's a very complicated thing to understand so just throw that to the back of your mind for now." She said.
"Okay." Enyo flatly replied once again.
"Alright now let's get started on the education part Enyo. Now that you have ignited your soul you will have quite a variety of options when it come to your job or as we call them, responsibilities. I will hand you a pamphlet once you're on your way out and you can decide for yourself depending on your likeness. To start, you have now ignited your soul and become a "spark", the lowest level of ignition other than being a mundane human. You will have a system that you can use to complete quests, various tasks and to store things such as soul cards and information on your ability, power level and immunity to certain dangers. Most sparks choose to just stay in this world eventually once they give up on getting to higher levels of ignition, it is up to your discretion whether you stay in the world of go and adventure in the other plane although I must warn you of the dangers. Although risk's do pay out with rewards. As you can see, I am an "ignited" which is one level above you currently. Do you have any specific questions you wish to be answered still?"
"Yes, I do. How much are soul cards worth? Also how do people buy and sell them? Oh, and also how do I get paid for being a spark?" Enyo said enthusiastically.
