Kan, startled by her sudden appearance, glanced up from his bed. "Belinda, you didn't have to come all the way here at this hour," he said, gratitude evident in his tired eyes.
Belinda approached his bedside, her expression a mix of concern and determination. "Nonsense. Most of the nurses are off duty, and the ones on duty are probably fast asleep," she explained, her tone matter-of-fact. "But I couldn't leave you without making sure everything's okay."
