Chapter 56 - Chapter 56: Title at the end

Nijimura then began to give Tsuna a tour of the entire school, updating him on his activities there.

Fukuda Sogo Academy strongly emphasized sports, boasting exceptional volleyball, baseball, and basketball teams. However, their standout was undoubtedly the martial arts club, renowned for its frequent victories and standing as a top contender for championship titles.

This athletic focus sometimes overshadowed academic concerns at the school. Most students here were passionate about martial arts, and it was no secret that a significant portion of them had some affiliation with delinquent groups.

Fukuda Sogo Academy was essentially divided into four main power factions, each aligned with a different martial art discipline: Aikido, Judo, Jujutsu, and Kendo.

However, the balance of power among these four groups was disrupted when Nijimura returned to Japan and enrolled in the school.

At first, the four groups were in a frenzy, each vying to recruit Nijimura, who had quite a reputation as a promising fighter in the neighborhood.

But rather than aligning himself with any of these established factions, Nijimura decided to establish his own group. This bold move didn't go unnoticed. It drew the attention of all the existing factions and sparked intense opposition from each of them.

Unfortunately for them, Nijimura had undergone formal training under Sebas, transforming him into a formidable fighter. He was a force to be reckoned with in one-on-one combat, and high school-level opponents stood no chance against him.

However, Nijimura understood that he couldn't take on all four of these factions alone, so he began recruiting individuals who showed promise and shared his vision of uniting the school and establishing a more peaceful atmosphere where students wouldn't constantly fear getting attacked.

While Nijimura's actual goal was more about creating a conducive environment for Tsuna to accomplish his plan once he returned to Japan, Nijimura encountered like-minded individuals who shared a similar vision.

With his leadership, Nijimura slowly gathered his group and assimilated these rival factions individually. It took time and effort, but he managed to unite them under his banner, which he dubbed the "Student Union."

Tsuna couldn't help but be impressed. Uniting the school's factions in such a way was no small accomplishment. He was glad he went along with Sebas's plan two years ago, realizing that Nijimura's martial arts skills were exceptional, as evidenced by his ability to bring the school together.

As Nijimura explained, Tsuna observed the school buildings. He noticed a clear contrast between the academic buildings, which appeared plain and unremarkable, and the sports facilities, which were well-maintained and equipped with modern amenities.

As they entered the gym where the basketball club was practicing, Tsuna surveyed the court and nodded approvingly. The facilities were surprisingly good for a club that was rumored to be lacking compared to the school's martial arts club.

Nijimura turned to Tsuna and spoke, "Now that you're here in school, I've saved the captain's position for you."

Tsuna nodded in agreement, glancing at the club members who paused to look at them in their warm-up. There was curiosity in their expressions as they wondered who Nijimura had brought with him.

Tsuna couldn't help but be curious. He gestured to the basketball club members who were practicing on the court and asked, "Aren't they supposed to be in class right now?"

Nijimura chuckled knowingly as if he had anticipated this question. "You got me, Tsuna. I knew you'd ask."

Tsuna had previously asked Nijimura not to address him as a "young master" at school since it wasn't a formal setting, and Sebas was still actively serving him as a butler anyway.

Nijimura provided some insight, saying, "You see, this academy puts a lot of emphasis on sports. They fully support students pursuing sports careers, even if it means missing their regular classes."

"That makes sense," Tsuna replied with a nod.

He had already completed his high school subjects long ago, and this level of flexibility would allow him to focus on his training while exploring other areas of interest outside the standard curriculum.

The tour concluded without any formal introductions to the club members. A welcoming ceremony for the new students who had chosen their respective clubs was scheduled.

Tsuna was guided to the auditorium where the ceremony would take place. As he entered, he couldn't help but notice that the new students were lined up with military precision. However, their uniforms were disheveled, and their faces bore the marks of a recent beating, a stark contrast to the orderliness of their formation.

Tsuna joined the line, and the person beside him couldn't help but ask why he appeared unscathed despite the apparent hazing from the new students. Some of them hadn't seen Tsuna walking with Nijimura earlier.

With a chuckle, Tsuna explained that he had just arrived and had missed the initiation process.

The others shook their heads in frustration, regretting that they hadn't considered doing the same. They also mentioned how fortunate Tsuna was and hoped he wouldn't face a beating later.

Once the ceremony wrapped up, Tsuna made his way to the classroom. It was a typical Japanese school affair, with the homeroom teacher introducing themselves and the students introducing themselves to each other.

Tsuna couldn't help but notice that the homeroom teacher seemed quite skilled, which piqued his interest. It appeared that the teachers at this school were also martial artists, which explained how a school with a primarily delinquent student could still function smoothly.

Among the students, Tsuna also spotted Haizaki in his class. However, Haizaki avoided eye contact with him, almost as if pretending not to recognize him. Quite a shift from his desperate plea at the school gate earlier.

After the class ended, Nijimura arranged for some of his associates to escort Tsuna to the basketball club. When they arrived, Tsuna found the club members assembled in perfect formation, with Nijimura standing before them, giving them some explanation that surprised them.

As Tsuna entered, Nijimura called him to the front and announced, "Today, I'm stepping down as the captain and passing the position to someone more capable, Tsunayoshi Kazama."

Tsuna nodded at the club members while maintaining his demeanor.

The club members were taken aback; they had heard about Tsuna's legendary leadership at Teiko, where he had led the team to victory in the tournament three years ago.

It was Teiko!

The team that had dominated the tournament for three consecutive years with their Generation of Miracles. Nijimura had explained that if Tsuna had stayed in Japan, he would have been the one to lead the Generation of Miracles instead of their currently well-known former captain, Akashi Seijuro.

Before the club members could react to this surprising announcement, the door burst open, and a group of men entered, dragging in a person who appeared to be badly beaten.

"Boss, we've brought the person you wanted..."

One of the guys reported to Nijimura.

Tsuna observed the situation amusedly while he looked at the person who had been beaten up again.

"Why's he been roughed up once more?"

"He was smoking behind the school and refused to follow us." The guy replied with a hint of disdain directed at the person.

The individual appeared defiant as he yelled at Nijimura, "Nijimura, you fucker! How dare you lay a hand on me!"

Nijimura frowned at this and signaled his men to give the person another beating.

In the next moment, the guy was being roughed up again. "...Please, I apologize."

"...I'm Shogo Haizaki. I'm a new member of the basketball club. Nice to meet you all!"

The person now appeared considerably more honest as he turned towards the club members, offering a respectful bow as he introduced himself.

The others gazed in astonishment at the guy whose face bore the marks of a recent thrashing. All eyes returned to Tsuna, anticipating his speech, when the door swung open again.

A newcomer entered the room. He had chestnut-colored hair that faded into a darker brown lower down. His eyes were brown, and he stood at an average height for an athlete.

Tsuna looked bemused this time, noting that the newcomer also appeared to have taken a beating, although it wasn't as severe as Haizaki's.

The newcomer nodded to Tsuna and then turned towards the others, offering a polite bow. "Apologies for my tardiness!"

"I'm a new member of the club too!"

The person greeted everyone with cheer, introducing himself with a friendly smile.

"I'm Shigehiro Ogiwara. It's a pleasure to meet all of you!"
