Chapter 2 - E1 - Astray (1)

October 3rd, 2023:

「Crash」

In an instant, the door to our office was blown off its hinges by a flash of green lightning.

"What the polx, Ryan?! Our polxing door!"

My built, black-haired teammate didn't even flinch. He immediately rushed to the intruder, pointing his finger at them like a teacher, while his long, wavy hair danced with each cartoonish movement.

"Language, Alix," the smaller, short-green-haired idiot chuckled, knowing it'd get under his brother's skin.

"Doors just take so long to open, man. Completely polxes my style," he grinned.

"Grrrr. Just fix the damn door." Alix said defeatedly, while he turned and cleaned his big glasses.

"Of course dude, chill. Now, have some boba!"

"Fine... Slurp. You want yours now, Naomi?"

"Nah," I replied, as Ryan placed the door back in its frame. The phrase: "Room 15-13, research team 13" reflected his full green beard through the letters.

"I'll have it on the job. You guys've read the report right?"

"Yeah, course."

"Totally..."

"I'll give you a recap on the way, Ryan," I smirked, watching him form a green magic circle with a spanner icon in it. A soft green aura then encased the door, making it look brand new.

Grabbing two cups, I walked towards the 4th person, a beautiful brown-haired Australian reading a file labelled: "Tennerfield City, Europe". I tapped her gently on the shoulder and presented her cup.

"Ready to go, Janet?"

As she nodded, cutely, the words "Yeah. Thanks, babe!" materialised in front of her and she stood up, taking my hand.

"何?" ["what?" *translated from japanese] she formed, looking puzzled at the two Britons, "Why's the door inside out?"

Meeting her eyes, grinning vindicively, Alix and I answered simultaneously, "Ryan broke the door again!"

Then, after freezing for a second and faking a smile, the Indian in a hoodie darted for the door - terrified. In pursit, my amazing girlfriend pulled a sword from her floating red circle, sentencing him with: "You son of a Britz!"

Beautiful.
