I checked all the cabinets in the office. Then all the cabinets and drawers in the other rooms. Finally, sweaty and dusty, I tried looking into the nooks and crannies in Lucrezia's elaborate quarters. But there was still no sign of the damn key. By this time I was beginning to get frustrated, but my sour mood did trigger me to decide on my next immediate goal – find the key to the locked drawer.
She wouldn't have tried to hide it so well if she wasn't keeping a secret she didn't want anyone else to find out. And I was itching to learn what it was. For all I knew, it could be something only royal bloods ought to know and I had no business in meddling with. But since I was in the body of a princess now, then the information may serve me some purpose.
