The hurried departure from Evergrove marked the beginning of our journey to Eldoria. The road stretched before us, winding through picturesque landscapes that seemed straight out of a painting. As we ventured deeper into the realm, I couldn't help but marvel at the stark contrast between the fictional world and my modern reality. The trees that adorned the roadside were unlike any I had seen before. Towering oak trees stood proudly, their leaves displaying a vibrant palette of reds and oranges, indicating the end of summer. Beneath them, graceful willows swayed gently, their long branches dancing with the wind."We call them Whispering Willows," Alexander said, his voice carrying a fondness for the scenery. "They say the willows tell tales of the past and whisper secrets to those who listen." He was on horseback while I stuck my head out the carriage window, enjoying the gentle breeze. As we progressed, the forest enveloped us, forming a canopy of greenery that filtered the sunlight. It was a temperate deciduous forest rich with biodiversity. My modern knowledge recognized the oak, maple, and beech trees, but there were also fantastical trees unique to this world, like the shimmering Moonlit Pines, their silver needles reflecting the fading sunlight.I couldn't help but draw comparisons between this world and mine. In the modern world, electricity illuminated our nights, but in this realm, they relied on glowing moss. Lanterns filled with luminous moss adorned the road in towns and villages, casting an ethereal glow as darkness descended. As the sun dipped below the horizon, the temperature dropped, and a cool breeze swept through the forest. The sky transformed into a masterpiece of hues, painted in shades of pink and purple, as the moon peeked from behind the clouds."We shall depend on the moonlight to guide us through the night," Alexander said, his voice gentle like the breeze. "The roads are well-traveled, and we have the protection of my knights. Fear not, princess."With the moon casting its silvery glow, the forest transformed into an enchanting realm. The Moonlit Pines shimmered, illuminating our path, and the forest seemed to come alive with unseen creatures."Such beauty," I murmured, enchanted by the magical ambience.Seeing how thrilled I was, Alexander offered, "How about riding the horse together? It's a much better way to enjoy the landscape."I smiled, politely refusing the offer. "At the moment I prefer the comfort of my carriage."The truth is I never ride a horse, and I don't know how. I pulled my head into the carriage and closed the window. After rearranging my hair, I lean on the board."You love riding, Your Highness." Lady Evelyn interjected."I do?" I was taken aback. If the owner of this body can ride, then so do I because after I came here, all Elysia's abilities were mine. All except her memories. That's the mystery I have yet to unveil. "Well... maybe I can ride when the time is right because, at the moment, I'm not sure riding with him is a good idea."I squinted at the window through the small transparent curtain. Alexander is nowhere to be sighted. Maybe he had already galloped in front of the carriage, joining Liam and Gabriel.A knowing smile graced Lady Evelyn's painted lips. "Have you not notice, Your Highness? The Prince is rather fond of you."I snickered and shook my head for a while. "He's a womanizer, Evelyn. It's in his blood to woo women as he pleases.""Well... how do you know of his reputation? It's only been a while since you've met him." Lady Evelyn seemed surprised as if reluctant to believe my words."Believe me, Evelyn. I know." I don't want to elaborate further, risking saying too much."You've changed, Your Highness. I know you have still unable to regain your memories. But I notice few changes in you." Lady Evelyn's face was displaying an honest remark."Such as?" I was also intrigued to know how much change I made to the original Elysia character."The princess I knew was someone meek, like to keep to herself and uncomfortable with men other than the royal family members and Sir Gregory. But as I watched you, Your Highness, you have not displayed any reservation when talking to the prince or his two best knights. This morning at the jewelry store, you look comfortable with the foreign gentleman."Lady Evelyn has dropped the bomb. How shall I address this? I was kind of speechless for a moment."Being forced away from Astoria has changed me in a way that I never could possibly imagine." I conjured the explanation after evaluating Elysia's situation after I woke up in her body. And I spoke the truth without revealing all the details."The changes were good, Your Highness. Do not worry too much." Lady Evelyn held her hand across the seat to pat the back of my hands reassuringly. That was a relief. My 'lies' were easily accepted. So I let the narrator narrates the narrative of my journey. I almost yawn listening to it!As they continued, Elysia pondered on the significance of their journey. Elysia was no longer just an observer in this world; she had become a part of its tale. She couldn't help but wonder about her purpose here and the destiny that awaited her.Despite the enchantment, Samantha Lindsey couldn't escape the reality of her predicament. Her heart yearned to return to her world, but she couldn't abandon the quest to save the monsters. The hate that she has for Alexander gradually lessens, adding complexity to their relationship. Samantha or rather Elysia found herself questioning the depths of her own emotions. Before arriving in Eldoria, Elysia must find a way to meet Tumblefluff as the creature might hold the threads that can intertwine her 'memories' with the King of Monsters. She wonders what other secrets the original character has hidden all this while. Her kidnapping by Frostbane was no coincidence. Deriving the feelings from the hidden 'memories', Samantha felt that the kidnapping was mutual. Frostbane did not mean any harm to the princess. But because of her untimely migration into Elysia's body, she unintentionally helped humans murder the poor creature who meant no harm. Guilt started to grip her heart, making her more anxious about getting away from this entourage.Should I just flee? What about Lady Evelyn? I can't bring her along, jeopardizing her safety to the unknown, nor can I abandon her to Alexander's wrath. What should I do? At this time, I wish there was a villain who kidnapped me again from the supposed male lead character in this story!
