Chapter 9 - How do you Make Friends Between a Loner and a Otaku?

Though after my momentary stunned reaction I pulled myself together before taking my stuff and taking my seat behind her as I contemplated how I should approach this mission the system has designated for me.

Saki is a Loner through and through, her back story of middle school prior to going to Highschool is that she made no friends whatsoever and because of that she decided to change herself into someone she wasn't.

She thought she was ignored due to her low self esteem issues that she had and that she believed herself to be unattractive leading her to change her looks and try to be more sociabl and in return she did get the attention she wanted, both the good…. But the bad outweighed attention she got out weighed it all.

And because of it she got the attention of that bastard Hayato who is the main cause for her life to spiral downwards into a constant state of sex and drugs with the fucker who gets her pregnant and forcing her to abort the first one.

Then he gets her addicted to heroin and other awful and tragic things happen to her as she gets raped and drugged constantly before she gets pregnant again but she want the baby to come to term but the author made it seem like the entire world turned against her making her hit rock bottom and ultimately not being able to handle it anymore to cause her to kill herself from overdose and killing the baby in turn.

I never saw her for what those in her story saw her as, nothing more than a drug addict Whore who died a nameless death, I saw a walking tragedy that neither I nor any of the other readers could stop it and could only watch it play out in the end.

But thinking all this I had a problem, a major problem…. 'How the hell am I going to get into a situation to genuinely talk to her?' I thought to myself.

I can't just go up to her and start talking to her, I'm no overly attractive guy where I can just get away with doing that, at least not yet, I need a situation that forces us to be with each other so I can start a conversation that way without coming off as a creep.

'But when the hell will that happen?' It could be days, weeks, maybe even months before I-

*Swoosh* "Ahh, Hifumi-kun, Saki-san, I'm glad you two are here so early, actually I need your help, we just recieved an updated books for this years curriculum after a month delay, but I'm not as strong as I used to be, would you both be so kind as to get the textbooks from the Teachers Lounge?" Are teacher for homeroom, who was an elderly old man by now, came to ask for our help.

'Chance! This is a perfect chance! Thank you teacher!' I shout out internally before I fix my glasses, "Not a problem Sensei, you okay with that Yoshida-san?" I say as I stand up from my chair and look towards her.

"Oh, I guess I'll do it Sensei…." She said but seemed a bit reluctant to do it, but it wasn't about having to do it with me.

'She's looking at her book, she's only reluctant because she can't keep reading it? 'So Lingers the Ocean' by…. Toko Fukawa?!' I internally exclaim in shock at what I saw from the front cover of her book.

Though soon enough she began to walk away and I followed after her, 'looks like I have something to start the conversation off with her.' I think internally as I walk along with her in the direction of the teachers lounge.

The teachers lounge was on the first floor on the opposite side of our school from where our class was so I had the most amount of time possible to start up a conversation with her.

So as we were going down the hallway there was a bit of an awkward atmosphere between us, but I went in and broke the ice, "So…. You read Toko Fukawa's works huh?"

"…. Yeah I do, why do you ask?" She said as she gave me a side ways glance.

"Well, I heard that she is our age, and that she is going to Hopes Peak Academy next year." I say dropping a bombshell of information on her that I know is true.

"R-really? Wow…. I knew she was one of the youngest best authors here in Japan with how many books she has made, but I'm surprised she's going to Hopes Peak Academy…. I wish I could go there…. But I don't have the talent or the money to afford to go there though…." She says sadly but this makes my glasses glint as she doesn't realize there is a third way to get into Hopes Peak Academy that's neither of those two.

"Well, there is a third way, but it only works if your helping an ultimate in improving their skill letting the other student get into Hopes Peak on a scholarship alone." I go onto explain as we start to walk down the stairs from the third to the second floor.

"Really? Wait, how do you know this anyway?" She said surprised I know something like that in the first place.

"Well I didn't have any plans on showing this off buttt…." I say as I pull my backpack forward before pulling out a letter with a stamp of Hopes Peak Academy on the front of it as I hand it over to her.

(N) A New Challenger approaches!!!

"Wait…. Is this…?" She says surprised I pulled out a letter like that which she grabs from me before pulling out the letter and reading its contents which quickly makes her stop in place as her eyes nearly pop out from behind her glasses in complete surprise before she looked up at me.

"Your going to Hopes Peak next year?!?!" She nearly shouted out in surprise as she looks at me in absolute disbelief at what she saw.

"Nyufufu! Of course I am, after all I am dubbed as the next Ultimate Fanfic Writer! But! But but buuuuut! I want to change my ultimate to something more Yoshida-san! I want to become the next Ultimate Managaka!" I say as I clench my fist as a fire appears in my eyes, the fire of my determination!

"The next Ultimate Managaka?…. Well I guess that makes sense, Fanfic Writers/Artists aren't that far from being their own Managaka's right? They'd just need to come up with their own stories right?" She says after handing back my letter which I put back in my backpack.

"Well of course, which is why I've come up with not just one, but two manga…. But I've come with a bit of an issue, every good Mangaka needs and assistant for their works, and well…. I don't exactly have one right now, sure the manga company I would publish through would be fine with giving me an assistant if I asked, but during the three years of Highschool I'd be working in school and Hopes Peak wouldn't let people who aren't staff or students into Hopes Peak even if they are their to aid Ultimates in improving their skills." I go onto explain, as I see her realizing what I'm going to ask.

"Wait…. Are you asking me…. To be your assistant? But…. We've never really talked to each other that much before now, though we never had classes together since this year so…. Why me?" She asked with a big question mark appearing over her head.

"Because Yoshida-san I have come to see your talent in drawing, maybe not at the level of an ultimate when it comes to drawing and art but how your shading and body shapes of the actual models we had in art class I see you to be the best person to ask to be my assistant." And this wasn't a lie as I remember back in Hifumi's memories, he has the same art class as her, and while he didn't focus to much on anyone in class even the original Hifumi noticed her drawing talent as I could heavily recall her artwork as she was one of the few that caught Hifumi's eye for her artwork.

"I-I don't know…. I have to think about this…." She said as she got nervous but at the same time I could hear both a hint of excitement and genuine happiness in her nervous voice for having her art being recognized by someone who is considered an Ultimate in Japan.

"Well that's okay, just think about it and tell your parents and get their opinion on it, though if they here you can end up in Hopes Peak under the scholarship program thanks to me they will be alright with it, and think about it, if I become famous through my works then you'll get famous by proxy because you worked with me on my works, and that will help you after Highschool after all." I go on and leave her to her thoughts as we reach the teachers lounge and get the textbooks we were after and begin to carry them off.

"But if you are interested then you can tell me tomorrow as I only work on my Manga every other day for the foreseeable future as I'm going out and getting myself healthy with working out, so tell me what you think by then." I say as we head back to class.

"…. Alright." And that was the end of our conversation for the day as school finally begun and another boring day for me came and went.

But next up it was time to get my workout on once again.
