Humans are such fickle creatures, they love each other one day then hate each other the next, bitter rivals become close friends along with friendships ending because a girl or maybe even a boy got between two friends.
"And yet that's what makes humans and all sapient creatures so interesting, I find it strange how my master gave away my number for a girl who broke his heart as a child, but maybe things aren't all that they seem to be?" I mutter to myself as I think these thoughts while I arrive at a highrise apartment building in the city of Chiba.
As while the main headquarters that Gen Tachibana works from, his home with his daughter is here in Chiba where the boy she is in love with lives and goes to school with.
I walked inside and took the elevator to the top floor as I leaned on my cane before exiting and walking to the address I was given.
I could sense multiple eyes watching me from different buildings and even through the security cameras as well, but as these were normal humans they couldn't very well do anything to me as I approached the entrance and rang the bell.
Soon enough a woman with long black hair covering one of her eyes appeared wearing what could be called a business casual suit without the tie and open collar.
"…. I take it you are the so called Miracle Doctor that the master and the young miss called upon?" She said after giving me a once over to which I nodded.
"I am madam, then you must be a bodyguard, perhaps for the young woman I'm supposed to look at?" I say to which she nods.
"But before I let you in I must give you a pat down at the very least." She says before I nod and place my briefcase on the ground before she begins patting me down.
Feeling nothing out of place she then looks at my suitcase, "I must see the contents inside as well." She says to which I agree as I hand her the case before she opens it up and sees what's inside.
Standard medical equipment, scalpels, needles along with various medicines in liquid form, everything you would expect a doctor on the move to carry.
Seeing nothing wrong she closed the briefcase and handed it back to me before moving out of the way and motioning me into the residence.
The inside of the apartment was rather normal for an apartment, although the entire size of the apartment itself took the entire top floor of the apartment building so it was rather large and spacious, but the decor itself was normal, nothing overly extravagant just normal itself as I followed the bodyguard woman to a specific room in particular.
"Young Miss, the Miracle Doctor has arrived."
"Good, let them inside Honda." The voice of a woman responded from the other side of the door to which Honda nodded and opened the door to let me in.
Soon I was in a girls room, it was a very girly room, orange and pink colors along with a few yellows painted the room, stuffed animals all around and a very soft fluffy bed that a young woman was laying on with her back against the backboard who had another older man seated next to her.
"Mr. Tachibana, and the young lady here must be Marika, let me introduce myself I am Keito Konosuke(which can be interpreted in Japanese as 'One Who Helps and Brings Good Fortune') or you can just call me doc, now then if you don't mind I would like to examine the physical condition of your daughter so I can get a better understanding of this hereditary condition she inherited." I asked to which Gen nodded.
"Please, do what you think is necessary doctor, it there's a way to suppress or even completely remove her illness would be a godsend." He said while I felt her pulse and noticing a problem right there, very slight but could be devastating in the long run.
I pulled out a stethoscope and placed it by the lower part of her lungs to hear her breathing, "I take it when she gets sick she loses her ability to move properly along with breathing well, and if she's in a city like places as this her condition can't improve with the somewhat polluted air correct?" I ask her father after I finished checking her breathing.
"Yes that's correct, other doctors have said that it's an autoimmune disease along with minute muscle atrophy." He went onto explain while I nodded.
"Though you should know that if this doesn't get cured she would be even lucky to live until the age of sixty at this rate, and that's me being generous with nothing strenuous happening throughout her life causing her condition to worsen as I believe that those doctors you talked to didn't know how truely bad her situation is." I said to which they both took on a serious look.
"The muscle antrophy they mentioned isn't just effecting her arms and legs, it's effecting All of her muscles, her heart, her lungs, her brain, all of her major organs, every muscle in her body is suffering from muscle atrophy, though as she's still growing it has become benign in recent years hasn't it?" I said to which while showing a face of shock he nodded.
"The reason her health has improved is because she is still growing, the natural growth of her body and muscles are making them stronger and thus are combating against her muscle atrophy, but when she turns 18 that's when her body will being to slow down its growth and by 20 stopping altogether and as the years go by the muscles in her body will get weaker by the day until the point she won't be able to leave her home safely and will need to stay home bound for the rest of her life to keep living, but the likelihood is that she won't live to sixty if she catches any other disease in the meantime, luckily since you allowed it I was able to get ahold of her medical documents." I say reaching into my case before pulling out papers and looking them over.
"Main issue is that a certain amino acid in your body can't be made properly, that being leucine, and you must take medication to give your body those proper amino acids, but as this is particularly a genetic trait one of the chromosomes in you daughters DNA is telling her body not to develop her muscles and without the current help of her now hormones causing her body to grow and thus make leucine as a result, she would need to to keep taking those medications for the rest of her life." I say handing the rather detailed and through medical documents to her father.
"But you happen to be in luck as the AWG while being a goods company has also made major developments in the medical field that i am a part of, and as such we have been able to develop a medicine that can slightly modify a persons very DNA and remove genetic defects, we haven't reached the point where we can remove unnecessary chromosomes in DNA that cause the lack of mental function in certain children and adults across the world, but what it can do is fix disorders such as your daughters." I said before reaching into my briefcase and grabbing a needle and a vial with a blue substance inside.
"This is the medicine that can completely cure your daughter and free her from this illness for good, it will edit her dna just enough that her body should always be able to create leucine she needs to heal her…. However there is a price and it isn't of the monetary kind that needs to be paid…." I said before putting the needle and medicine she needed away in my case.
"And what would that be exactly?" Gen said with a squint in his eyes before I leaned forward and looked at both him and Marika.
"Hifumi Yamada has already paid me to heal miss Marika but he said that the requirement for the medicine to be administered is for her to tell me the reason why she decided to break off their engagement all those years ago, why she went out of her way to break his heart as she did, why her father still wants the marriage to go through even though Hifumi believes she doesn't want that, he wants all these questions answered and when they are I will cure you of your disease." I said to them both what my master wished to know as I too am curious about one of my masters pasts in this world compared to the other world.
Hearing me ask all that the look on Marikas face became both sad and distant while she thought of the past.
"Alright…. I will tell you what happened all those years ago…."
…
..
.
"-And that's what happened." I said repeating everything I heard back to my master who was looking towards the moon as he always seemed to do while he was deep in thought.
He sighed before sweeping back his hair while a scowl marred his face as anger was very obvious in his eyes, "So it was all her fault that things fell apart as they did, that old hag…." He said through gritted teeth as his trauma, or at least the trauma from this life was due to what Marika did to him in the past not realizing it wasn't her intention to go that far but had no choice.
"Chika Tachibana, you really know how to piss a guy off…." After all his trauma wasn't Marika's fault.
It was all her mothers fault….
