Chapter 16 - Chapter 4: The First Encounter

ELVIS LORD'S POV

I sat at the foot of my bed wearing the boots of the armor set I got with the money I was given, along with an Item bag that was filled with a long 50-meter wire made of super alloy, food, a sword that was about 2 feet long, and escape crystals, which are the get-out-of-jail-free card for dungeons.

After I'm done, I stand up and wrap a belt around my waist, half sagging to the side for style ..... I expected the system to comment.

"Status",

"huh?",

The blue screen shows a message in red that is short and simple.

"System offline??" ,

Probably watching someone trip and fall.... It's good to have peace once in a while. I pick up a small bag that's about 10 centimeters small and hang it on a hook on my belt, then I pick up an elastic and wrap it around the mouth and tie the end of it to ensure nothing spills out of it. I walk to the left of my dresser, where there is a modern-looking small drawer, and on top of it is a plain envelope.

It was a letter from the king that I hadn't opened yet; it was in response to my postponing going to school so that I could experience my first monster, which is a crucial step to becoming a true LORD, and I'm curious about the monsters of this world and the way of the world. I opened the letter, and it said:

'Dear Elvis,

I'll get straight to the point: I have not been a father figure to you or most of the Lords that are my children, which is messed up considering your mother disappeared. So consider this my first fatherly act.

You have finally decided to take the journey I always wanted you to take, although I would have preferred you took it sooner, but this is enough. You are the only Lord with my dragon trait fully dominant, which is why I must ensure that if nothing else, you will become the strong, proud dragon son that I have always wanted. It will be hard for normal people, but you are my son, so it will be easy.

I'm not good at all this letter-writing stuff, so I'll end it here. You're a LORD act like it.

P.S. Try not to use my Dragon bloodline; it only activates when you're low on health.

As I stood in front of the cave entrance, or dungeon, as it is called, there seemed to be air being sucked in and blown out, which gave me the feeling that the dungeon itself was alive. The mere thought sent chills through my body. I placed an escape crystal on the ground just in case. They work like a gateway or teleportation link; you place one in the immediate vicinity outside the dungeon and keep the other since the other can only activate within dungeons. Then say the words escape while crushing it, and the first stone will pull you back out to its location.

It's a good thing I read the adventurer's guide when I registered at the Claws Adventurers Guild. I also read up on the monster I'll be facing in the dungeon, which is a goblin. Tricky green creatures that will use all sorts of cowardly methods like stealing, poisoning, and even deception, but they are relatively easy to kill... I want to fit into this world; I have to get used to the concept of taking sentient life.

"I can do this; I'm a lord", I say to reassure myself, then I take a breath.

I reach into the item pouch, and after much digging, I find my sword. I take it out and swing it around for a bit. I don't exactly know how to use it.... professionally, but I can learn eventually, plus the guide says it's easy. My nerves and anxiety were getting to me, but I still went inside, ready but scared.

As I walk down the stairway, I feel my anxiety lessen a bit. The cave itself went underground and seemed to stay lit no matter how deep I went, so seeing wasn't a problem for now.

After a while, I came to the end of the stairway, and it led to a big empty room that looked about 500 meters across. As I entered the room, I felt something snap against my leg and saw I had cut a rope. It was followed by more snapping sounds, and then arrows flew out of small holes in the wall at my location, aimed high. I rolled underneath, thinking it was over, but I saw green figures in the distance, and one suddenly ran at me. I turned back, panicked, and ran backward. I turn back to see a dagger flying towards my head. Panicked, I duck downward while moving forward, which causes me to tumble to the ground.

Dizzy, I look up to see the same figure, about 5 feet tall, armed and raised high in the air, holding a curved dagger. Without hesitation, he brings the dagger down with force, aiming for my arm since that and my head aren't covered in armor. In response, I move just enough for it to hit my chest plate, then I use my legs to kick him away, then I get up, sword raised, ready to face my enemy.

and the creature stands up: pointy ears, skinny arms, but a relatively fit body with rough green skin and scars—that's the best way to describe one, and there are five of them, making me wonder how I'm going to manage with all of this.

With my hand shaking, I grab my sword at my front, refusing to back down.

"COME!!!"
