That impact sent the bones to the floor and while the creature was taken aback by my sudden retaliation I jumped backward to the edge between the corridor and the snowy landscape that formed from that edge.
But once I hovered over it (because I no longer had lower limbs) the snowy landscape started to disappear and the part of the building that was originally there appeared.
I didn't have a clue as to why that was happening but I couldn't waste time pondering that.
I charged at the horrible creature who was still grabbing its shattered forearm bones and attaching them to the sleeve of its cloak.
I slammed into its thorax with my head and sent it flying backward into the snowy landscape that was formed behind it.
Then, an energy surge built up within me and transformed into a bright light, that shot towards the creature from my eyes. As the blast of light passed the snowy landscape it was reformed into the corridor.
The blast made a hole in its cloak and exposed the bones that lay within it.
The creature had no insides and was only a skeleton.
The blast of light passed into the space that was supposed to be its abdomen and then through the side of its vertebrae.
The creature immediately lost all the "Coolness" it had shown and dashed at me with absolute wrath glaring in its sunken eyes.
It became faster than before, catching me off guard, and plunged its other hand into the left side of my chest.
"Uh..." A sound escaped my lips as I felt my energy draining rapidly.
'What is it doing?'
There wasn't any more time to wonder so I slammed into the limb that was dug into my chest but unlike the first time, it didn't budge.
The creature's eyes started to glow and from its countenance, it seemed as though it had lost all forms of rationality that it had.
Soon, my arms started to give in to the sudden loss of energy and I couldn't slam them onto the creature's upper limb to get it out of my chest.
My arms weakened due to the loss of energy, and I couldn't remove the creature's hand from my chest.
With each loss of energy, the creature grew larger, and I realized that whatever it was holding in my chest was the source of my energy.
What was in my left cavity? My heart... Won't a heart stop working if something held it like that? And besides it wasn't my real body, it was just the projection of my body; that represented my mind.
Whatever it was I was sure it served as the source of my energy and somehow I knew that if the creature finally got its hand out of my chest I would collapse because I was left with little or no energy.
Even my head could no longer hold still and I found myself leaning into the creature's chest.
' It's over '
I thought but my weak arms were not ready to give up.
I reached into the hollow abdomen and then held its vertebrae and tightened my grip on it as hard as my weak hands could.
"Argh! " the creature gave a loud cry signaling that it felt pain but still its hand was dipped into my chest cavity.
With the remaining strength I could muster, I yanked out the spinal bones that I gripped, and the lower part of the creature was sent crashing onto the floor.
It was still futile; even though the creature raised its head into the ceiling of the corridor and screamed in pain it didn't move its hand.
"Damn you!" the words came out of my mouth in a low voice.
It was just a matter of time... Then I would discover what would happen when the creature got every inch of energy from me...
But the battle was far from over. At that last moment when I had given up I felt a new surge of energy similar to the last outburst that I had with the King of Blizzardkin creatures.
It swelled from deep within my chest, threatening to burst open from my chest.
The creature was then focused on my chest, with every hint of pain evident in its eyes. We had both inflicted pain on ourselves and proven ourselves to be formidable warriors but it was no match for the energy that burned in my chest.
The creature let out screams and struggled to pull its hand out of my chest cavity.
A fist-sized ball of light, similar to Sky's aura but purple and denser, emerged from the hole in my chest, with the creature's hand trying to release its grasp around it.
As soon as the ball of light left my chest, I collapsed to the ground, unable to move.
The creature continued screaming in pain as it kept on trying to let go of the ball of light. From the looks of it, the ball of light didn't want to be relinquished.
' What is that? '
The intensity of the ball of light grew and it burned through the creature...
I couldn't see the rest of what was happening because I was blinded for a moment by the explosion that surged from the ball of light.
I found myself sitting next to Sky and Hassan with a pile of bones placed where the creature had been.
For the second time, I had managed to win a mind battle. And again even though it wasn't a physical battle my whole body ached.
A few words hovered in front of me...
Congratulations!
You have defeated Astor Bonechill!
