Chapter 6 - Son

Pregnant! Pregnant? Pregnant!?

Yuanxi took a deep breath. He must have misheard. Perhaps Aunt Lin meant some homophonic word, maybe bad luck? Did she mean he had bad luck?

Hmm, his luck had indeed been quite terrible recently. He had inexplicably ended up in this situation, inexplicably encountered those people, inexplicably hijacked, and then he inexplicably slept for eight months, only to wake up inexplicably fat...

Fat... What the heck, fat!

Yuanxi felt a slight movement in his belly, and damn, it moved! What was happening here?!

He looked at Lin Suyun with a distressed expression. "Aunt Lin, please don't joke with me. I am a man, a genuine one, absolutely reliable and honest, without a trace of falsehood!"

Lin Suyun looked at him with difficulty, nodding and saying, "I know, but you really are pregnant."

"You don't know, you definitely don't know. If you knew, why would you say such things? Men and pregnancy can't go together, Aunt Lin, please, stop joking with me. This is not funny at all."

To be honest, all the chaotic and bizarre things that had happened before didn't make Yuanxi collapse, but this... He was truly teetering on the edge of a breakdown. What was this? His worldview had instantly collapsed.

"Xiaoxi, calm down. I know it's hard to accept, but this is the truth. Let me explain it to you."

Lin Suyun's voice was gentle and soft. She might have been a strong woman before, but now she displayed her gentleness and meticulousness, solely for the purpose of comforting Yuanxi.

Yuanxi nodded, realizing that he needed to calm down.

"We escaped from Beijing's airspace using the antimatter energy rod and entered a twisted space. In this situation, all of us were in a state of suspended animation, surviving on the abundant nutrient fluid in the escape pods. At the last moment, Yucheng managed to set a course using the starship's intelligent system, but the coordinates in the twisted space didn't match our real space. Even with a set course, it would be difficult to reach the destination."

Lin Suyun paused for a moment and continued, "We drifted aimlessly in there for a whole eight months. The time span was terrifying, and it was completely random. Even if we managed to escape from the twisted space, we might have forever been lost in the vast universe."

Lin Suyun explained in detail, making it easy for Yuanxi to sense the danger involved. He couldn't help but focus and listen attentively.

"But our luck was extremely good. In a situation where the chance of survival was one in a million, we finally escaped from the twisted space and arrived in the real starry sky. And we didn't even fly out of the Federation; this planet belongs to the Federation, an O-class ocean planet. Although it's an undeveloped primitive planet, it's on the Federation's star map and is a habitable planet. Everything we encountered is simply unbelievable, as if God is helping us."

Lin Suyun's gaze fell on Yuanxi's belly, and her voice softened as she said, "And this little thing has been with you all this time, surviving in such difficult circumstances." Her voice became even gentler. "Xiaoxi, it's a miracle, a miracle of life."

"After the starship landed on this planet, I and Yucheng inspected all the escape pods and found him with you. It was something I never expected. But I know you're a man, and it's truly unimaginable for something like this to happen. I was afraid that it might raise suspicion if someone found out, so I didn't wake you up immediately. I waited until everything was settled before waking you up."

Lin Suyun looked at Yuanxi and finally said, "Before you woke up, I conducted a preliminary examination, and he is healthy and adorable, full of vitality."

After speaking, she took out a silver disc about the size of a palm and lightly swiped it. A three-dimensional projection appeared.

Yuanxi looked at the scene in front of him, his eyes widening in astonishment.

It was a small... small... Yuanxi didn't even know how to describe it. Should he say it was a little baby? Curled up there, holding his little head with both hands, chubby little legs curled up, sleeping peacefully.

Yuanxi could even clearly see his face, tightly closed eyes, a small nose, a small mouth, a small face overall, incredibly cute.

Coincidentally, as if sensing someone looking at him, the little one moved, not with his little arms this time, but with his chubby little legs. He exerted force, kicking his small foot fiercely.

Yuanxi's heart sank, and immediately he felt a sharp pain in his stomach... He had a face full of black lines.

Lin Suyun laughed upon seeing this. "This little guy is mischievous."

Hearing Lin Suyun's words, Yuanxi, who had relaxed for a moment, became tense again. He looked at the image of the little one and realized that he was actually his child. The overwhelming sense of unreality washed over him, but... he also felt it intensely, the undeniable reality.

His life, his vitality, his undeniable existence.

If Yuanxi had been shocked, incredulous, and felt it was absurd before, seeing the baby now brought about a completely different feeling in his heart...

Lin Suyun's gaze shifted away from the projection, and she looked at Yuanxi, saying softly, "Xiaoxi, while you were unaware, he has already grown this big. He is already a complete life, an independent individual. I hope..." She paused for a moment and continued with great difficulty, "you won't give up on him."

That sentence was like a warning light, instantly illuminating Yuanxi's confused mind.

Give up on him? How could he give up?

At this thought, Yuanxi suddenly looked at Lin Suyun, and the confusion in his eyes vanished. He spoke firmly, "It's impossible. I won't deprive him of the right to live."

He spoke straightforwardly, without any pretense. He had never thought this way before. Initially, he might have been surprised, disbelieving, and taken aback, feeling like he was the butt of a joke. But he never had the intention of killing his child.

He had lost his parents from a young age and had been alone for twenty-four years, without any ties or attachments, but he was exceptionally lonely. He had once vowed that if he had a child, he would love and cherish them, compensating for everything he had lost.

However, after he understood his own feelings, he realized he couldn't fall in love with a woman. His sexual orientation was different. But even so, he had considered that when he found his significant other, he would adopt a child.

And now, he actually had his own child, albeit in such an unexpected and incredible manner, yet it was also so wonderful.

Yuanxi took a deep breath and calmly said, "Aunt Lin, I have regained my composure. I understand what you mean. Please don't worry; I won't abandon him. I will raise him and do everything in my power to help him grow into an adult."

Upon hearing Yuanxi's response, Lin Suyun's brows, which had been furrowed, finally relaxed. From the moment she first saw Yuanxi, she had liked this child. He had a baby face, big eyes that indicated he smiled often, and he was an affable young man. Moreover, the events that had occurred on the passenger ship had made Lin Suyun truly admire him.

He wasn't just a child; he was a man—a strong, brave man who possessed both courage and resourcefulness and loved life.

Yuanxi's attitude towards the unborn child had completely won her over. Such an unimaginable situation would make anyone feel fearful and apprehensive. Yet, Yuanxi was only shocked for a moment before he quickly understood the situation and took on the responsibility without hesitation.

As Lin Suyun looked at Yuanxi, her fondness for him grew. Especially considering that Yuanxi's surname was Yuan, and Yucheng's full name was Yuan Yucheng, it was such a coincidence. It felt as if something beyond their control was guiding them.

If she and Yucheng's child were still alive, they would have been around the same age. But... Lin Suyun sighed in her heart, knowing that she didn't have that blessing.

Putting aside those emotions, Lin Suyun changed the subject and asked Yuanxi, "Xiaoxi, would you like to contact your parents or family members?"

Parents... Family members... Yuanxi hesitated for a moment and then shook his head. But this question had already been settled in his mind fifteen years ago, so he didn't feel any sadness, especially now when he wasn't even in his former world.

He calmly replied, "Aunt Lin, I've been alone for a long time, long before this. I don't have any parents or family members."

Alone... Yuanxi spoke lightly, but it struck a chord in Lin Suyun's heart. A feeling of pity surged within her, and the words almost slipped out, but she forcibly suppressed them.

Instead, she changed the topic once again. "Since that's the case, you can make your own decisions. If you trust me, your Aunt Lin, you can leave everything to me and wait patiently for the child's arrival."

Lin Suyun's words were met with gratitude from Yuanxi, who nodded without hesitation. "Aunt Lin, I trust you completely."

Lin Suyun smiled and said, "Good child, don't be afraid. Just sleep a little longer."

Yuanxi knew that it was impossible for him not to be afraid in this completely unknown situation. However, he had always known that being afraid wouldn't help. He just had to grit his teeth and endure it.

What surprised Yuanxi was that he truly slept for a while without feeling any pain. He had initially thought Lin Suyun was just comforting him with those words, but it turned out to be true.

What he didn't know was that he did sleep, but the cost of that process was quite expensive.

This was an undeveloped primitive planet with low technology and rudimentary medical conditions. While ordinary women could handle childbirth, special cases like Yuanxi's carried great risks. Therefore, without Yuanxi's knowledge, Lin Suyun and Yuan Yucheng spent a large sum of their savings to purchase a complete set of medical equipment from the nearest planet.

Yuanxi slept for a month, during which Lin Suyun provided abundant nutrients for him and their child, preparing for the baby's birth.

Finally, when the first cry of the little one resounded in their ears, Yuanxi vaguely remembered a seemingly serious problem.

It seemed that this little thing still had a father...

In his lifetime, Yuanxi had only been intimate with one person, and he had no idea who that person was... He didn't even know what they looked like, except that they had a great figure when undressed...
