Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 - Warmth

"I.... I'm here."

My breathing was rough but I couldn't rest here.

I walked slowly towards her apartment and mid way I stopped.

I felt a strange feeling that made me stop.

I became anxious.

The thought of something happening to her worries me.

Even so, isn't this place strangely silent?

I started walking again.

Each step I took, the footsteps I made, it resounded around the area.

And every step I made my heart started beating faster and faster.

Ultimately, I found myself standing just a few meters away from the door.

It was open.

That alone let me know something bad had happened.

Still, I walked slowly in this silent apartment and made my way in front of the door.

The inside of the place was dark as it was already night.

This place was also cheap considering how it looks.

I wanted to see what happened inside.

But at the same time, I felt reluctant to do so.

I couldn't hear Amelia's voice nor anything inside the room.

Amelia....

She's a beautiful girl and her tail and ears make her cute.

She wanted revenge for her family who was mercilessly killed.

However, she wasn't able to do so, she wasn't weak but....

There are just some things you can't do alone.

That's why even without the system quest, I would still help her.

I can't just stand girls being mistreated.

"Light."

Unconsciously, I said those words and I don't even know why.

Following that, I inscribed ancient text on my palm, a formula, the first one I used.

It glowed brightly as well as heat up the temperature around the room.

And it also revealed everything around me.

The darkness inside the room was no more.

It was replaced with a nightmarish sight.

I felt the silence in the room even more seeing the sight ahead of me.

On the bed, there lay Amelia, no sound of breathing could be felt.

Her clothes were ragged and disheveled.

Her body was full of cuts and one of her eyes was leaking blood.

Her arms were spread open and so were legs.

In her hand I saw a glass covered in cloth but that said cloth was stained with her blood.

Still looking at her, she had a small smile forming on her face.

A smile that represents sadness and regret.

I could tell she was crying as her eyes were red and a little bit swollen.

I turned away from facing her.

I looked at my surroundings, the rest of the room.

And I felt somewhat relieved.

I saw three men laying on the floor without a single bit of breath.

They were dead.

At least now I know something worse than death didn't happen to her.

I turned to face Amelia once more and I leaned down to carry her body.

She wasn't heavy or anything like that and the soft feeling of her tail felt comfortable to touch.

She was warm.....

"She's warm..."

She's warm...

She's still alive.

And knowing that adrenaline filled my body to the fullest as my source circulated into every part of me.

I carried her tightly into my embraced and headed straight out of the room.

I only had one thing going in my mind.

I need to save her.

The direction I headed was to the west of the town where the church was located.

According to what I know churches have priest or even high priest that can heal people.

That's why, no matter the price, I'll save her.

I was so focused on running that I didn't notice the smile on her face becoming wider.

A few minutes passed and I arrived in front of the church.

The people there saw me with Amelia dying in my hands and they quickly welcomed me inside.

I heard them conversing.

It seems that a high priest is needed to recover her back to health.

And it would cost a lot.

I didn't care, I had just received my pay just a while ago, I could only hope for it to be enough.

It didn't take a while.

The high priest came after a moment and began healing Amelia.

He was saying some weird incantations and a divine light covered his whole body.

Then from his body the divine light moved into Amelia's body and her body started recovering.

Even the cuts in her body disappeared except...

Her right eye was still gone.

I looked the priest and he returned my gaze with words.

"Fear not child, she has already recovered, however as for her missing eye, I'm afraid it will stay that way."

"Thank you. Could you tell me how much this will cost?"

"It is fine child, you need not to pay, as it is the god's will to help people."

"Then, may I ask your name? I don't know how I should address you."

"I am 'Altar' Dale, a high priest stationed in the town of this church."

"Altar Dale.... I will gladly pay back this favor when I have the chance.

I'll be leaving and once again thank you, Altar Dale."

I carried Amelia and put her into my embraced.

I quickly left the church and headed straight to the inn.

I guess she'll also be needing a mask during our stay her.

And... A change of clothes.

Judging from how this is going, she is most likely coming with us.

And as I arrived in the inn and layer her down on the bed of my room, a familiar screen appeared in front of me.
