Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: The saviour is awake.

Justin woke up with a start breathing heavily. The last thing he remembered was killing the headless horseman and destroying the gate and then, he passed out.

"System, how long was I out?" He asked.

(Three days!)

"What?!" He exclaimed, shocked. "So long? Did I push myself too much?"

(It appears to be the case!)

"What about the girls?"

(I don't know!)

Justin's eyes twitched.

"What do you mean you don't know? I'm in this shit because of you. At least, tell me they're alive and well." He demanded and the system responded,

(They're alive!)

He gave out a sigh of relief. What exactly did he say again? He wasn't going to get involved but the system kept giving him quests that had to be completed.

The girls must be worried. Since the system said they were safe, he was certain they were safe but he couldn't help but worry.

He tried to move but the bruises all over his body made him sore.

"Gah, I need to take a reviving elixir." He said and opened his inventory. Then, he noticed the unclaimed rewards from the quests. "Oh yeah." He took the elixir and his entire body got healed and was back in shape.

(User has rewards that are yet to be accepted)

The system announced and he nodded. He decided to take the rewards for the last quest first. The one that had to do with the headless horseman.

{SPECIAL QUEST}

[KILL HIGH LEVEL DEMONS: 102/90]

[KILL LOW LEVEL DEMONS: 61/50]

[FIND OUT THE SOURCE OF THE RAID: Confirmed]

[BECOME THE CAPITAL'S HERO: Accomplished]

[QUEST STATUS: Completed]

{REWARDS: Manticore rage, orc smash, Pressure palm, terror of the night, +1000 points and +80 experience points}

{ACCEPT or DECLINE}

Justin stared at the rewards. Other than the addition of points and experience points, he had no clue what the other rewards were.

"Are these all skills?" He asked and clicked on them, one at a time. "Let's see."

[Manticore rage: The user has the ability to instil fear on lower demons, seemingly having the presence of a manticore]

"Okay?"

[Orc smash: Having the strength of an orc and breaking the grounds with a simple step]

"Wow, that's nice." He clicked on the other.

[Pressure palm: A gravitational ability that renders your opponent unable to move]

"Just like what that headless bastard did to me." He shook his head and clicked on the last.

[Terror of the night: Seemingly similar to pressure palm and manticore rage but this instils great fear on your opponent with a simple glance, rendering them unable to move and completely shaken]

"All this is nice and all but I'm not seeing the part that shows how I was able to understand that bastard. He was speaking in demon language, wasn't he?"

[System demon translator]

"Bullshit!" He spat out. "Since when did you have a translator?"

(.....)

"He said humans will perish and I don't have an issue with that but what about when he said I wasn't human. Was it simply because I was hell strong or there's something else?"

(User has to reach a certain level to be able to unlock this information)

The system stated and he felt extremely irked.

"Alright but let me know this, were my parents human?"

(User has to reach a certain level to be able to unlock this information) The system repeated.

"Gah, forget it." He got up from the bed and wore the robe that had been prepared for him. "I can't believe my favourite cloak got ruined. I can't even buy another one because it was at a discounted price." He gritted his teeth. "Damn you, you headless horseman."

He took off all his bandages and bandaids and picked up his sword that was lying in the corner and Attica showed herself.

"Master!" She hugged him with tears in her eyes.

"Hey, I remember I said no touching."

"Master, I was worried." She said and didn't let go. He just let it slide since he did make her worry.

"I'm okay now, aren't I? Now let go." He said and she did, reluctantly. "What's been going on in the capital while I was out?" He asked.

"Nothing much. The damages caused by the demon raid are being taken care of as we speak. There were no major casualties and a lot of people were able to survive because of you."

He headed for the door.

"That's a given." He said and attempted to open the door but stopped.

They all saw his face, didn't they? What did they think of him now? They may praise him on the outside because he saved them but he was certain the image they had of him at heart had not changed one bit.

He clenched his fists. It didn't matter. They could think whatever they wanted. He was doing this because he was tasked and not because he wanted to be a hero anyway.

He opened the door and all eyes fell on him. There were a lot of people and it looked like a clinic with a lot of patients but the people attending to the patients were all on white robes so where was he?

"The saviour is awake!" Someone announced and an uproar began.

"What the… ?" He took a step back. Did they want to take him away and lock him up? Why were they yelling? Did he do something wrong?

But contrary to Justin's worries, the people were actually rejoicing at his recovery and not after him. They were glad he was finally awake after facing off so many demons on his own.

A man in white robe, who happened to be a priest, approached him. Justin could see his light. It was blue that meant he was a good person, right?

"It's great that you're awake but you shouldn't be standing." He said to Justin who was still confused.

"What?"

"You just woke up and your wounds need to heal so, please go back and rest."

"I don't need to rest. My wounds are already healed." He said but the priest didn't look convinced. "I said I'm fine, dammit. What do you take me for?"

"I understand that you feel okay but that won't be the case if you suddenly collapse."

This priest was getting on Justin's nerves. So he decided to just ignore him.

"Just get out of my way." He said and walked past him. "I'm in a hurry."

The priest was speechless. How to convince him to stay put so that his wounds won't get worse.

Suddenly, the priestess showed up and called out,

"Please wait, you have to stay put." He turned and as soon as he saw her, his eyes widened. That light, it was so comforting each time he saw it. The light was beautiful.
