A guy wearing a cloak arrives at the capital and looks up. He takes off his hood, revealing himself to be a young man with two short narrow scars at the left side of his eye.
He was a wolf beastman in the form of a human.
"I think I made it on time!" He says and looks towards the capital grounds. "Where will I find you, Justin!" His eyes held a certain glint.
He looked like he was looking for Justin. Or rather, he knew Justin but he also had a sad expression thinking of the past. Not the original past but the past that no one remembers.
Meanwhile, Justin sat with his legs spread wide as he watched the group of adventurers who had intended to snatch his money, roll on the floor, groaning in pain. Most were unconscious while others were barely able to move.
"I knew I'd gotten stronger but this is sick!" Justin exclaimed. "I'd have gotten my ass kicked if I were in this situation a month ago. But look, not a single scratch on me. It's like I'm invisible" he remarked.
(You did well!)
"I did well, you say?" Justin snickered. "Well," he stood up from the heep he was sitting on and shoved his hands in his pockets. "... I'd better head out to look for a house to buy."
He walked past the big talkative man from earlier who was thrown away with a single punch and passed out.
He started regaining his consciousness but seeing his comrades lying wasted on the floor, his eyes shrunk.
"How…" he looked in Justin's direction. "...how can a person be so strong?" He watched Justin leave and felt it was too easy to let him go.
He shove his hand in one of his pockets and brought out a potion.
"I'll make you regret it." He exclaimed and drank the entire bottle. Instantly, it started taking effect and his prowess increased in ten folds. "I'll make you pay!" He yelled as he charged for Justin.
But before he could land a punch, Justin swiftly stepped aside and kicked him hard in the stomach. He spat out blood and Justin retreated a few steps.
"You want to go a second time?" Justin asked. "Alright! But let's make this quick. I've got things to do."
"Arhhh!" The adventurer charged with all his might but Justin stood still. When it looked like he would get hit, he disappeared. "Where'd he… ?"
Justin appeared right ahead of him and gave him a brutal kick in the face and once again, he lost consciousness.
Justin landed on one foot and dropped the other.
"And I think we're done here!" He said.
All that training with Sally really paid off. Other than the exercises he did in the simulation space, he had Sally to teach him a few combat tactics and to make sure she was teaching him right, she made her stats slightly higher than his while they fought.
"Emily!" Justin called and Emily, who was hiding behind the wall, flinched. "I really don't appreciate your father sending his adventurers after me. Should I take it as a sign that you were only out for my money in the beginning?"
"Of course not!" Emily yelled as she jumped out from hiding, her boobs bouncing up and down with her frantic movement. "My father would never do such a despicable thing!" She defended.
"Then why are you here? Aren't you checking to see how far they've taken 'care' of me?"
"No! I came over because I heard the others talking about how Magdad and some other adventurers were going to land their hands in your gold. I didn't want anything to happen to you so I rushed over here but by the time I got here, you were already taking care of everything." Emily explained.
Justin was having a hard time believing her. He didn't believe anything people said. Even the most believable stories could be fabricated.
"And why did you not want me getting hurt?" He asked as he stepped over a few bodies. "We don't know each other, you and I."
"Well thats, it's because I feel you're a good person!" She said and for a moment, Justin stared, stunned. But then, he started laughing.
"Me, a good person? You've got to be kidding me!" He laughed. "Maybe you feel that way now because you don't know who I am." He stepped closer and stood before her. "If you know who I am, you definitely won't say the word good, with me."
"That's impossible! My intuition is never wrong!"
"Well, you've got one wrong conclusion today." He said and simply walked past her. "In any case, I don't care! It's not like it's my first time meeting someone who talks nonsense just from what they think!"
"Are you leaving?"
"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm busy!" He said and kept walking. "Oh and, you should probably leave too. Since you 'claim' you don't have a hand in this then I suggest you leave before the guards arrive and blame you for the mess!"
Emily simply stared at Justin as he left. He claimed he wasn't a good person but her intuition was never wrong either. It was the sixth sense of a beast man.
Emily and her father were beastmen who were living in the capital in human form. They and other beastmen used to be suppressed but they managed to escape that oppression and start a guild.
Other beastmen were being used as slaves and were tortured but Hak wanted to stop it. He needed a genuinely strong person to help him with this since the empire didn't exactly condone the existence of beastmen in the capital.
"You are a good man!" Emily muttered.
Justin felt disturbed as he walked away. What was that blue light he was seeing around Emily? It made him feel guilty at heart.
"Hey system, what did you do?"
(Nothing!)
"Then what was that blue light I saw?" He asked but the system kept quiet.
He had a hunch and checked the status bar. Right there, in the passive Skill section, he discovered he had gotten a new skill.
