Chapter 1 - They're beautiful aren't they?

Hushed music played in the background as many well-known individuals with prominent positions in the society filled the ballroom.

The huge chandelier shown gracefully and offered a stunning view while the light bounced of the walls creating a warm atmosphere as many people chatted and talked about seemingly "interesting topics"but they were all talking about business deals and the crown prince.

"It's a shame the prince doesn't want a wife at the moment, my daughter would surely pass as his wife any day", a rich looking woman probably in her forties said. The one with her replied "Oh dear, don't be delusional there's no way he would even spare your daughter a glance"

Aedlin rolled her eyes upon hearing what the two women were talking about. All people could talk about these days were the upcoming accession of the crown prince. "It's almost as if people have nothing better to do on a Friday evening than to talk about a prince at this point", thought Lin.

Just as the first woman was about to reply the

music faded and the microphone was turned on. "Ladies and gentlemen, you are all warmly welcome annual masquerade ball. We have gathered here, as usual, to celebrate the sixtieth birthday of His Majesty King Steinburgh lll. Let's welcome His Majesty with a round of applause "

Then an old looking man appeared at the top of the grand staircase.

...

"Well... I'm not going to bore any of you with anything long so...I'm sixty now..woohoo" after he said that the everyone burst into laughter. The man had a great sense of humor for sure.

"Anyways there's a bunch of food and we're going to be here for a while so make friends and have fun I guess", saying that the old man left.

"Alright...now that that's over I'm gonna get me some food", saying that Lin headed over to the food court which she had a really hard time finding and that wasn't even the worst part. The food there was so foreign to her and not to mention expensive...she really didn't know what to do but eventually just got a bunch of complementary cookies. You wouldn't think there'd be cookies but there were...a ton actually.

Now Lin wasn't really one to care much about people's opinions and all but she wasn't just gonna stand in the middle of the ballroom stuffing her face with cookies. She definitely needed somewhere else to go. "The garden", she exclaimed.
