On a gloomy wet morning as the rain drizzled down on umbrellas in different colours, a group of people gathered together all dressed in black staring at a particular tombstone with So many unspoken words
Amongst these people and at the front row stood a man and a little girl of about 13 years of age
The girl bore no semblance at all to the man but from the close proximity at which dey stood close to grave you could tell they where both related
After a while the group reduced in size as people began to exit the cemetery until only the man and the girl where left
"Adeline!" the called out looking at the little girl
The girl turned towards the man
"Yes papa" the man who's name was veet stared at his daughter, she had silver-white hair that framed an oval shaped face with honey Brown almond shaped eyes
She looked just liked her mother
He smiled bitterly finally looking away from her
" It's time to go" without a word the girl nodded and walked towards the carriage
Turning back to the headstone he muttered to himself
"What I'm supposed to do with 8 children Alice" he chuckled bitterly, with one last look he turned around and followed his daughter.
The tress seemed to pass in a blur as the four horses pulled the carriage through the forest path.
Her eye lids shut close as a lone tear rolled down her cheeks
Opening her eyes Adeline stared at her father who looked of into the distance with empty eyes
She had never seen her father in such a state before
It looked as if he was frozen in time
He had that vacant look in his eyes Ever since her mother breathed her last breath
Adeline turned back to look at the trees, resting her head on the Carriage window
As the carriage neared the manor passing through the gates, Adeline couldn't help but sink her shoulders in trepidation, her mother had left her all alone with seven siblings and a father she feared would never be thesame again.
the carriage pulled over in front of the manor and the coachman pulled open the door for the father and daughter duo.
Adeline was the first one to step down, thanking the coachman before walking towards the manor
"Adeline" she heard her father call, behind her
The butler was already by the door waiting to take Thier coats wen she got inside
Quietly thanking the butler she continued walking down the hallway wen she heard her father's call behind her
"yes father" she responded turning to look at him
" I have hired a new maid who'll also look over over and also teach you and your siblings from now on
"okay father" she replied
" well that would be all for now," as is unsure of what else to say he walked to away.
Adeline stared at his retreating figure with confusion swimming in her eyes, why was a maid doing the job of a nurse maid and a governess, she asked herself. After a short while she stopped staring at the spot her father had previously stood and walked away to her room, her siblings where probably waiting for the explanation she had promised them, they had a lot of questions to ask but right now she was just too tired to talk , finally alone she rolled under the covers and cried her eyes out , she has never been without her mother and right now she didn't know what to do
