Chapter 4 - Voice

As the grand doors swung open, revealing the opulent ballroom adorned with crystal chandeliers and exquisite floral arrangements, Anna's eyes sparkled with anticipation. She had been preparing for this moment for weeks – to introduce her best friend to the gilded circle.

"Look A, I know that you don't like to socialise but I am seeing ever since you came here you have been sticking to work and not having fun. So now the great Anna here is going to make sure you experience all the things you should"

"Yes ma'am"

"Mom, see I bought her"

Anna introduced both of them to which Margaret immediately hugged Amelia as soon she saw her.

"My dear child you look exactly like your mother"

Amelia sheepishly smiled at the compliment, knowing that her mother was more beautiful than her.

Margaret then dragged both  to introduce them to her friends. Amidst the easy going conversation Amelia could feel a little ache in her head, excusing herself she took a glass of champagne from a waiter passing by to go to a secluded place. Even so she did not notice women following her.

The ringing sound of her phone jolted her, placing the glass aside she took out her and was about to pick up when she heard female voice

"And who you might be? Another vixen who made her way in?" Voice dripping with disdain.

The women looked her up and down, their expression conveying a sense of superiority. The one who spoke, named Victoria smirked.

Victoria's face turned green when Amelia ignored and called back on her phone.

"Bitch no one has ignored me and how dare you look down on me when you are not even worthy to lift my shoes." She grabbed the phone and threw it in the water fountain nearby.

Amelia stared into the woman's eye, the cold stare that made a chill run through Victoria's body. She flinched but still maintained her haughty look as if looking down on Amelia. But before she could say anything a hand grabbed her and made her sit on her knees.

"Apologize" Said the person, just one word but it made Victoria want to run. Her minions long ran away from there when they saw the look Amelia gave. Not hearing anything, the person grabbed the back of her neck.

"I'm sorry" Victoria's lips quivered, pleading with her eyes to the woman who showed no signs of forgiveness.

"Let her go", she said coldly and the person disappeared as if he was never there in the first place. "Next time beware of who you offend, it can cost your life, now run"

Victoria ran away as she could still hear Amelia's words like a devil's whisper.

"Clowns", a smirk made its way to her lips but disappeared soon.

" If you act like this again you will be punished, understand? "

"Yes, young miss" ,though the person could not be seen she knew he was bowing down his head.

With a sigh she left the place not knowing a person standing far but could see what had occured.

Amelia returned inside as she still had to socialise on her friend's request but that was not the only reason she came today. She had her own agenda.
