Chapter 8 - Arabian sea

Alan left the comforts of the village once his wounds were treated and followed his way out to find the next destination. Alan and his steed travelled for weeks ,passing through rough terrains and treacherous ravines until they reached the village of Majida. It was a small village of travellers and merchants close to the coastal region. The people here were from the Arab and came down to expand their business over a century ago.

The chief of the tribe was reluctant to help Alan since he didn't know him all. So, the advisor of the chief took them to a temporary shelter until the chief put his verdict. There was many other merchants and people inside, who seeked permission to made conduct and trade and one of them, was an Arab who was a great story teller, and he started to share stories of ghouls that roams around the streets at night."In the calmness of the streets at night, when you walk down the open road. There's someone watching you, unable to see it. You are increasingly growing more wary of your surroundings. You are certain that you should have reached your destination by now, but still, you can't find your way. Suddenly, you see someone walking, just over the other side of the road. You hurry towards it, thinking of getting help and are relieved to see a young woman. You try to approach her, beckoning you closer. Upon reaching the fire, but suddenly, you notice movement out of the corner of your eye. You watch in terror as a pack of unknown humanoid figures rush towards you. You have a sinking feeling in your chest as you remember the warnings to avoid travelling these parts of streets at night, but now it's too late. The Ghouls are upon you. "

They Arabs fear this mystical creature, according to the man, they were once human, but they brought the curse on themselves by eating human flesh dead or alive. They feed on corpses or living flesh, often abducting young children or luring away unwary people into abandoned places. They are disgustingly ugly and stink of death. They are immensely strong, but geniuses in a sarcastic way, thus tricking them up, is always a better way than fighting them. According to the man, the ghoul is a terrible, shape shifting monster. It may appear in the form of a hyena or a hound, opening up graves and devouring corpses. They do not hesitate to eat lonely travellers who lost their way. They also hunt for young children, drink blood, and steal unattended coins. In Arabic, the term is sometimes used to describe a greedy or gluttonous individual. Ghouls are known to dwell in deserted areas like lonely roafs or graveyards. They were thought to be bipedal though with a hunched form and were known to crawl and sometimes run on all four limbs like an animal. They were most fond of feeding on young children because of the ease with which they could be killed but would feed off of any human they had the chance to cannibalize. Ghouls also have the ability to shapeshift. They could appear as beautiful women that preyed on lustful men by luring them to a secluded area or as an animal in the desert like a hyena. They were known to stay in these forms until they had a chance to pounce on their victim and devour them. Ghouls were thought to be especially fond of preying upon travellers, especially solo travellers or small groups in particular. Some stories claim that they lit fires off of well travelled paths so they could lure a single traveller into a trap and devour them. They were known to prefer fresh meat, and while they didn't turn down a corpse, if there was no other available food source, they certainly preferred a live victim. Early ghouls were also known to carry disease on their skin, which could have been because of the types of places they were thought to inhabit. There are ways to fight off a ghoul, though it is important to be very precise. Any mistake on the part of the individual fighting a ghoul will certainly result in death. The most effective method for killing these creatures is decapitation. It is imperative, however, that the attacker only uses one blow to kill the beast. Two or more strikes will resurrect the creature and almost certainly spell out death for the person fighting the ghoul. Because only one strike can be used to kill a ghoul, decapitation is the preferred method to ensure that the beast dies quickly.

Suddenly, there was a moment of silence, another man suddenly rushed to the scene, screaming in agony and fear, it's here, run everyone run,it's here, the ghoul is here. Alan got the idea that if he were to eliminate the ghoul and save this village, perhaps they would help him in pursuing his journey. And with that idea in his mind, Alan, took up the responsibility, and asked the man ,to point him where he had actually seen it.There was no sign of anything ,suddenly the horse began to make weird noises. He knew that the ghoul was near him. There came a vivid scream. He dragged his sword in his left arm.In this moment, the ghoul jumped on his back, and scratched his back.Alan fell down on the ground and in that moment his sword fell from his hand.Unable to move his right hand, he was more or less, dead weight. But when it tried to reach over his throat, he kicked it away. With immediate effect, Alan reached his sword, and when the ghoul tried to jump on him, with one strong blow, he cut the head off.. He then took the head back to the shelter so that everyone could see that he meant no harm to anyone.

The village chief was extremely happy to have someone help his village and decided to him with golds and invited him to have dinner with his family. And Alan accepted the offer with great respect and gratitude.
