Chereads / My Chief and My Regiment / Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

I come out from the depths of the courtyard, the courtyard is now empty, so I immediately see Yi and Dragon.

I don't know where Yangdanzi who gave Dragon a fan is, but Dragon is now alone there. He undoubtedly notices Yi who wants to get close to him, but he pretends not to see him in order to expand Yi's embarrassment.

Yi is swaying with a circle centered around Dragon, and the board "Stewed Pork with Cabbage and Rice Noodles" is still on display there. There is still some distance to turn it into reality. Yi is holding the watch that vet Hao just mentioned. He holds it in his hand, likes a rabbit trying to get close to a big wolf.

When I drag my leg there, I disrupt the circular motion of Yi. He immediately looks at me in a friendly way. This kind of friendliness is to show that he is related to me but not to scumbag like Dragon. Therefore, he is obviously a bit pretentious. I don't mind too much because I can't help but look at the watch in his hand. That is my left leg.

We all need to be noticed, and Yi expresses his concern which is unnecessary to me first, "How is your leg? Fanla?"

I savor this kind of attention that I don't care about, and repay the attention that I don't care about, "It's okay. Pork is easy to get, isn't it?"

I touch the tender spot and immediately overshadow Yi. "It's not easy at all. Do you have any ideas?"

I quickly push back and say: "There's no way! — Those scumbags are bullying you! You say you can't get it! They're too unkind!"

Yi sighs lightly, noticing that my gaze has never slightly deviated from his watch, so he withdraws his hand holding the watch back into his sleeve. I turn my eyes away from there, but I still think about it.

"Vet Hao asked me to exchange some sulfonamide, but I don't know what to exchange."

"Oh. That's really difficult."

Because we both ignore each other's pain, we both choose an awkward silence. I want to knock him out and grab his watch, but we are all officers, promising young people, and friends. It seems like we had a lot of knowledge and ambition yesterday. But now I only think about my leg, and Yi only wants to prove himself. His self-esteem has turned into foolishness.

The one who breaks the silence is Bula. Followed by a Private soldier, he is holding a bamboo pole with a rag tied to it. The rag says "I need eat".

Bula issues his own manifesto: "Rebellion! Who want to join the gang? We need a drink from the county magistrate."

Dragon rolls over and waves his fan in disgust, as if driving away flies. I turn my back with Yi, and Yi strokes his watch in his sleeve while I play with my fingers.

Feeling embarrassed, he turns around and leaves, followed by that Private soldier. However, it is obvious that he had gathered a mob outside the courtyard. The rag flutters outside the courtyard and disappears, accompanied by the mob's battle catchword: "My stomach wants to rebel, I want to eat!"

Yi comments with a hint of disdain "Monkeys like. Man creates the evil and the consequence."

I look at the overly ostentatious piece of rag and say neutrally, "I'm leaving. I'll get some rice noodles."

Yi is already very absent-minded. He probably thinks I've been staying too long, "All right."

I wait for a moment at the gate, waiting for the group of rabble to completely turn the corner of the alley and disappear from my view before I go out.

After I leave, Yi plays with his watch and hesitates to walk towards Dragon.

I watch that flag fluttering above the low courtyard wall and gradually moving away. I can see the ending. My father liked to wave a stick called "Family Law", so that I can smell danger from my childhood and know that there are not many reasons to talk about most of the time. I want to have a meal, and Bula set his mind that he will do it. However, in times of crisis, immediate execution does not require a reason at all.
