Chapter 30 - Epilog [Chaos in the village of the Elf (The End) ]

"Rodan is dead."

Inside a grand meeting room, with his voice resounding throughout the entire room, a man dressed as formal as a secretary said that, which made the atmosphere of the room immediately fall into tension. But, it didn't stop there, the man said again.

"Not only that, I can't contact Estella either," he said in a sickly voice.

Hearing this statement, the expressions on the faces of everyone in the meeting room changed, they were all shocked.

"Oy oy, what do you mean unreachable?! Is that woman dead?" asked a man with liars while glaring at the secretary man.

But, completely unfazed by his sardonic gaze, still with a calm expression, the male secretary replied.

"I still can't say for sure, but we have to think about the worst possible scenarios."

"U-Umm, if the dragon we're talking about is dead, it's only natural to assume Estella is dead too?" cried a little girl with white hair while playing with her stuffed rabbit.

"Could it be that what the Demon King said about the Hero's prediction that would shake the world is true? If so, we must quickly find that person and kill him before he gets any stronger," said a giant man in a deep voice.

"You idiot, this is why I hate people who act before they think. He was the one who could beat both Rodan and Estella. It's better to investigate first, then attack him with a well thought out plan, have you fallen to that level of stupidity?" interrupted a man who had three eyes in his head, but at that moment they were closed.

"I agree with him. Leaving now without knowing how strong that person really was, that would be reckless. Adjust to send troops to investigate the person first before attacking him. I didn't want to fight him if I knew he could hurt my mother," added a woman with her eyes covered with a cloth, not only that, the woman also carried a child in her stomach which was swollen like a ball.

They all argued about what move they should take.

"…."

While on the other hand, there are people who have just been silent.

Staring at everyone present with her melancholy eyes, she seemed completely disinterested in joining the conversation. But, even so, nobody would judge her just for that— no, they just didn't have the courage to do so.

Seated far above hers throne which encompassed the arrogance of hers power and wealth, the figure sighed and suddenly raised hers voice in a voice that sounded lackluster.

"You guys are too loud," she said simply.

"..."

However, with just that one sentence, the atmosphere that had been raised by the arguing people became quiet as if time in the place had suddenly stopped.

It wasn't just an allegory, because not only were their voices silent, everyone in the room didn't even move their bodies at all, like a statue.

They were all trying their best not to make the slightest sound, and all that was solely to keep from igniting the anger of the figure sitting atop the throne.

After that, the figure spoke again.

"Don't get too excited over just one Hero, our goal isn't to kill Heroes, have you guys forgotten?"

"…."

No one answered, because they all understood that if they answered the figure's question, their lives would end immediately.

They all seemed to be standing on the edge of a cliff, the slightest misstep would obliterate everything.

To them, that figure was a god.

Hence, they would follow all of hers orders and continue to fear her as a majestic being.

Every word is an absolute command.

That is the form of the curse they currently have to endure.

"Enough talk here. I want you to cover the hero who defeated Estella and the lizard as well. I didn't expect that the Vampire Queen would die so easily, I'm sure her power was only sealed, because the curse I gave is still there. She's still useful, so a plan to save her. For the hero who defeated her, if you think you can kill him, kill him immediately. Not only him, if you see anyone interfering with our cause, eliminate them. All right, that's it. I still have important business to finish, so I'm leaving," she said, continuing to speak at length with all the orders given to them.

"..."

"Oh yeah, you are allowed to move freely," continued the figure again.

After saying that, the figure immediately disappeared into the shadows and left them all behind.

At the same time, everyone who had been silent all of a sudden let out their own breaths, which they had been holding in for so long, only to not make the slightest sound.

Once everyone had calmed down. They could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

"As usual, the pressure from that person is too terrible, just by hearing hers voice, the hairs on my neck all stand up."

"You are pathetic. But, I also understand your feelings a little bit."

"As expected of a person who has the title of Demon King. The levels are too different. I feel a bit sorry for those Heroes having to fight a monster like her."

"Well, I don't really care though. As long as my goal is achieved, I will continue to follow it."

"Fine, I'll be going. I have no more business here!"

"I'm going too. For orders from the Demon King, as usual, we will move separately. After all, we weren't friends in the first place."

Hearing that suggestion, no one objected.

After that, they one by one began to withdraw from the room and return to their respective duties without any intention of cooperating.

***************

—Akare Desert, north of the Randolf Kingdom.

The sound of sand rumbling in the desert, like a living creature, a terrible desert storm moved towards the black-haired youth.

However, contrary to what it looked like, it wasn't just an ordinary desert storm.

Revealing its huge black silhouette, a gigantic scorpion beast dashed at a terrifying speed towards the young man.

Closer and closer.

But, the young man's expression didn't change at all, holding the white-bladed sword which was a holy sword, the young man looked very calm when the giant scorpion monster approached him.

"Haruto, get ready, he is close," said someone with a feminine voice from a girl who warned the young man.

The sound came from none other than the sword itself. She was one of the [Nine Heavenly Swords] that existed in this world, [The Holy Dragon Sword], Luca.

The moment the young man, called Haruto, heard the comrade's warning, he took a deep breath and prepared to fight.

"Luca, let's quickly get this over with and get back to where everyone else is," Haruto said with a calm brave smile.

"Don't worry, if it's with Haruto, we can definitely do it!" replied Luca who was full of pride and confidence.

At that instant, gripping his holy sword tightly, Haruto glared at the scorpion beast.

"Keeeeeeeikkk—!!!" The monster hissed.

A moment later—

'Boom!'

Without even thinking, Haruto charged straight at the monster with lightning speed. A powerful explosion sounded from his footsteps. He shot out with all the power he had, and in just the blink of an eye—

'Shing!'

—He managed to kill the monster by cutting it into pieces.

—Holy Empire Ein, Eintern Capital.

"Stop you damn thief! This time I will definitely catch you!" shouted a fruit stall owner as he chased a small child who had stolen his fruit.

"Hah! Hah! Hah!"

The child with all his might kept running while tightly hugging all the fruit he had stolen, his breath was out of breath.

But, bad luck befell him, as he kept running, he accidentally bumped into someone and made himself fall down.

"Ouch!"

As a result, all the fruit he had brought with him fell as well, they scattered all over the ground.

Seeing that, he hurriedly tried to pick up the fruits again. But, by then the stall owner had caught up to him. He flinched when his hand was immediately grabbed by a large arm.

"Gotcha!"

"Egh! Let me go!!" screamed the boy who rebelled and tried to let go of the stall owner's grip. However, there was too much difference in strength between an adult and a child.

"Ahahahaha! Now you can't go anywhere anymore! I will hand you over to the guards to have them lock you up in prison, and I will also get compensation for catching the thief!" said the stall owner with a cruel grin.

Hearing that, the boy's face immediately turned pale.

"N-No! Let me go! I don't want to go to jail! I still have a younger sister to support! Please let me go!" screamed the child who tried to be pitiful.

"You idiot, it's your own fault for stealing! I don't care about your excuses, I'll hand you over to the guards anyway! Let's go!" refused the stall owner and mercilessly pulled him by force. "Let me go!" He is desperate.

While the people who were passing by when they saw the incident just ignored it and some began to gather to watch them without any intention of helping them.

But, suddenly a little girl appeared from behind the crowd, and immediately ran to help the boy.

"Let go Onii-chan!!" she shouted, biting the stall owner's arm.

"Khh! You damn brat!!" groaned the stall owner, and then, without thinking he immediately swung his fist at the little girl in a fit of rage. "Feel this!" he screamed.

But—

"You can't do that, uncle."

—Someone stopped his fist with just one hand.

"You?" The boy's eyebrows shot up when he saw who was helping him.

That person was the person he previously bumped into. From her voice, she sounded like a teenage girl, but the boy couldn't see her face clearly because she was wearing a white hood that only showed her smiling mouth.

"Who are you?! Don't get in my way! They keep stealing my fruit every day! So they deserve this!!" snapped the stall owner to the girl.

"Could you calm down first? I will pay for all the fruit they have stolen. Is this enough?" replied the girl while giving a bag full of money.

When the stall owner took it and opened it to confirm the money, his eyes opened wide.

"Platinum coins?!" he cried in surprise.

Seeing the amount of money he got, the stall owner's body started shaking with fear.

He immediately understood when he saw the tens of platinum coins he received, that the person in front of him now was not just an ordinary person. Because the only one who has platinum coins in this country is only a big noble or royal family. He gulped when he saw the white-hooded figure.

"Is that lacking?" she asked in a gentle tone.

"N-No, this is enough! Please forgive me! I will go now!" replied the stall owner with a frightened face and immediately ran away.

After the stall owner had gone far away, the hooded girl started to pay attention to the two children she had saved.

"Are you two okay? Did that uncle hurt you?" she asked, crouching in front of them.

However, the boy stared intently at the hooded girl with utmost vigilance.

"Why did Onee-san save us? Does Onee-san want something from us? I will do whatever Onee-san wants, but please don't hurt my sister!" said the boy while protecting his sister who was hiding behind him.

Hearing that, the hooded girl smiled, she laughed, which made the boy slightly surprised. Then, the girl stroked the boy's head gently.

"You really are a brave big brother. Don't worry, Onee-san won't do anything to you, but that's if you promise not to steal anymore, if you're hungry, you can go to the square in the center of town, Onee-san always distributes free food there, do you understand?" she said.

"..." The boy was silent.

This was the first time he saw anyone willing to do good to them. It made him realize again that in this rotten world there are still good people like her.

"Okay, I promise!" he said with a cheerful smile, eliminating his wary attitude towards the girl. "I won't steal anymore!"

"Good boy!" replied the girl smiled broadly and ruffled the boy's hair.

"Ahahaha! Please stop it Onee-san!" The kid complained, but that didn't mean he hated her.

After finishing her business, the girl stood back up. "Alright, Onee-san go first, there is still some business that Onee-san needs to take care of. Take good care of yourselves, bye bye!" said the girl and she immediately left the two of them.

However, just as she was about to leave, the boy called out to her once more, he shouted.

"Wait, Onee-san, please tell me your name!"

At that instant, the girl stopped, she turned around and opened her white robe. There, she smiled faintly. Her long black hair fell straight behind her, along with her beautiful violet eyes, she looked warmly at the two children.

Seeing that, the two children were instantly mesmerized by her beauty, not only them, even the people who happened to be there also showed the same reaction. They were all captivated by the girl, as if she was an angel who had just descended from the sky.

Then, with a beautiful smile, she said, as soon as her sweet voice rang in their ears, like a fairy's song whispering mischievously into their hearts.

"Hmm~ that's right. You can call me by the name 'Shina'. That is the name of a little sister who has the greatest big brother in the entire world!"

The girl smiled broadly.

***************

At that time, at the same time.

"Hacchuu!" I sneezed.

"What's wrong, Riku? Do you have a cold?"

"No, it feels like someone is talking about me… Well, whatever, I'm sure it's just my feelings. Let's continue digging, we still have a lot of places to plant trees."

Right now, together with Alicia, I'm planting small trees to restore this scorched forest. I'm working hard to pay for all the mess we've made.

But, this is really not an easy job.

"Huaaah!! Alicia-sensei! Alicia-sensei! Help me! This ant bit me and my hand suddenly turned to stone!!"

"Wait Riku! It's a Medusa anthill! Don't move much! The ants have surrounded you! [Recovery]! [Recovery]! [Recovery]! [Recovery]…"

"Huaaahhhh—!!"

As you can see, this is not an easy job. In this world, not even an ant could kill you.

It's finally over for the first arc of the novel, [Chaos in the village of the Elf]. Next will start going into the second arc [The Fallen Heroes], where Riku will finally meet his classmates.
