Chapter 12 - Unmasked Identity

"That bastard Cedrick, I can't believe he couldn't even spare his own wife!" The man said throwing the bottle in his hand to the wall.

The glass bottle collided with the wall followed by a shattering sound echoing in the room.

"As expected of the descendant of Christian, an absolutely brazen breed." A man said calmly emitting an dominating aura that reminded that latter of his presence. The man immediately sobered from his rage.

"So what do we do, the mistery about how thousand and fifty soliders were defeated by twenty three Knights of Gastonia is still impending.

And because of this impending mistery, we'd lost our land, home and our people." Merlin Cyrus Oden, the son of the late Priest, said in much calmer and the masked man immediately rose from where he was seated.

"Revenge is the only language we know and we want to know. There's no room for mercy, at least not anymore." The Crowned Prince of the then Greatest Empire in Dallaire, Damien Rhyus Geldorio of Imperialia said with a calm composure.

His mind drifted back to the day his Empire perished. The sound of his fallen people's screams and their blood clothing the path he ran through in his escape still haunted him.

___

Fifteen years ago, in the Empire of Imperialia. The whole Empire was preparing themselves for an extravagant celebration. And in the palace.

"Oh, my beautiful little Prince. I'll go get you something to eat." The Empress of Imperialia, Dianne Aliana Geldorio said in admiration of a five year old Damien.

It was his fifth birthday and the palace was bustling with life as all the maids in the palace where assigned to one task or another in preparation for the Prince's birthday celebration and first introduction to the Empire.

In Imperialia, it was traditional that the first son of every Empire be named on their fifth birthday and until then, be called Junior.

The Emperor was personally attending to the decoration for the celebration so nothing would be left wanting.

"Your Highness, the arrangements are incredible." The Empress commented as she gazed around the hall.

The Emperor turned to face his wife and his eyes widened when he saw a bowl in her hand. He instantly walked up to her and took the bowl from her.

"How many times do I have to tell you that you shouldn't walk around in this condition." The Emperor chided the woman who giggled at his tender gesture.

"It's for our son, of course I wouldn't let anyone get his food except me." The Empress said in a coaxing tone and the Emperor relented.

The Empress personally attended to her son before getting herself ready for his birthday.

When night finally came, it was time for the celebration to start. The Imperial priest, Lord Cyrus Oden, had arrived to bless the child for a brighter future for him and the Empire at large.

So many guests from different works of life were in attendance in the huge ballroom of the Imperial palace and the once that came later stood in the linking hall.

It was finally time for the celebrations to begin. After some customary events, the priest beckoned on the crowd for their attention.

"Oh great people of Imperialia, my plead for your attention. It is time to name the future Emperor of our prevailing Empire.

I'll hand it over to the Emperor and the Empress to announce his name for everyone to hear." Lord Cyrus Oden said before stepping back for the Imperial family to take over.

"Esteemed guests in this Imperial palace. On behalf of the entire royal family, you're welcome. The name chosen for the child is, Damien Rhyus Geldorio." The Emperor said sharply and the crowd erupted in applause.

Just then, a huge Bang was hearr from outside and a man with one hand separated from his body ran in spilling blood all over the place.

He ran towards the Emperor and stood in front of him with shock and tears in his eyes. He was catching his breath as all eyes were on him.

"The Empire is under attack!!! They are of little number but of unmatched force. They've raided half of the capital!!!" The man kept dropping one bomb after another without giving anyone a chance to process the information.

"What!!!" Just then a commotion was heard in front of the palace gates which was visible for the Emperor and Empress to see.

"They're here, knight go help the rest. Do not let them into the palace!" The Emperor ordered in an authoritative tone.

The Empress was in a state of panick. She fell under labour immediately. Her lady in waiting, Greta Arbor, helped her into a room.

She was helping the woman deliver the baby but the woman stopped her midway.

"Greta, leave this. Take the Crowned Prince and run as fast and as far as you can... Ah! Go!" The Empress yelled in anguish and the woman nodded before leaving the room.

She heard the crying of a baby behind her but didn't dare turn back as she saw some armed men running towards the room.

She ran away with Damien through the back door. The street they fled on was painted completely crimson with the blood of his people.

A few weeks after, the dead bodies of the Empress and the Emperor were brought back with the survivors of the incident.

The little boy grieved and wondered what happened to his little sibling in his mother's belly. As a little child,he swore to avenge their deaths and that of his people.

"We have to attain our land back and save my sister. She's been in that place for far too long…" The man concluded coldly and Merlin nodded in agreement.

Just then, Judson ran into the room in a disheveled state. He stopped in front of Damien and bowed his head.

"My Lord, please help! Peter has been captured by the Emperor!" Judson yelled in panick and Damien immediately stood up on his feet.

Judson was Peter's younger brother and the only thing he had left in this life and here, his life was in danger.

"What? How?!" Damien exclaimed. He believed Peter was a very sensible person and wouldn't fall into trouble so easily.

"He was caught by the Emperor's guards during his survey of the Imperial treasury." Judson said with a shaky voice.
