Chereads / A Slow And Painful Death To My Husband / Chapter 30 - A Good Daughter

Chapter 30 - A Good Daughter

Diana frowned at her daughter, confused by her actions.

"Who goes on a honeymoon without her husband?" There was resentment in her voice when her daughter packed another of her beautiful dress in the trunk.

"Mother, I have told you. Michael is injured and the physician had refused him to travel." She sighed, looking helpless in front of the fierce eyes of her mother.

"This is more of a reason you should not go too." She demands glaring at her husband this time.

Camelia had been their loving daughter for a long. After Camelia's birth, Diana suffered from a disease and could not get pregnant because of it.

It was a miracle that Camelius took birth. For her, both of her kids were everything and she would hardly be angry with them. So, Camelia was surprised to see her mother glaring at her for a long time, and also at the man who would kill her mother.

"Lia, I know that duties are always important to you. You want to be a good daughter to your father. But you have responsibilities toward your husband.

He is injured you should take care of him. I will ask him to send someone else in your place." Lia sighed, her eyes looking helplessly at her mother.

How could she inform her mother that she was not going to the South because of her granaries? But she was going in search of the truth.

No matter how she thinks about it, Michel could not plan everything by himself. There must be something she had missed in her past life.

She had already investigated all his friends, his acquaintances in the past week but she found nothing.

Her last hope was to find something in the orphanage he had lived in. But if she would go with Mike, he might go suspicious.

She was already taking her every step with trepidation. Afraid that he would doubt her and connect the dots. She wanted to stay in the dark until she knew all his secrets.

If not for that, she would not have asked for help from her enemy. Damien would make sure to blackmail her later. But at least, he was loyal to her family.

If something happened to her…

"Lia!" Her mother's voice brought her back to the present.

"Yes, Mother I know. But Mike wants to leave me." her mother's brows knitted and she stared at her daughter in confusion when Lia smiled.

"You know he is feeling inferior to Dami. I told him that it did not matter, but he was afraid that the elders would never accept him as their lord." Diana sighed, her expression changing as her shoulders slumped and she sat beside her daughter.

"But how does your leaving alone would affect it?" She muttered in a low voice this time, "It will only give the effect that you do not have a good relationship.'' She leaned on the shoulders of her daughter like a child whining to her parents.

Lia shook her head but she still adjusted her posture to make sure that her mother was comfortable. Her parents had always been so sweet that she always believed in the bright side of life.

She was never prepared for a betrayal. But now, that pain never left her. She was scared that thoughts would never leave her alone.

The trauma of her death would bind her and even revenge would not end her trauma. If that happened..!

"Mother, Mike wanted to hold the meeting of elders and other vassals in my absence. Or they would think I am helping him behind the scenes.

He will make a good budget for the next month and use the tax wisely. His plans would help him in the long run." Another lie she told to her family.

She wondered how they would react if she told the truth to her mother. But then, what if they were abrupt and the forces behind Michael would be alert?

"Mother, let him struggle a bit. If not, no one will believe in his abilities." Diana sighed but nodded her head softly.

"So, you are leaving because you want your husband to prove himself as a new count." Lia nodded, as her mother sat straight and stared at her with worry.

"Oh, dear! We are sorry that we did not think about it well enough." She hugged Lia and Lia could feel pain in the voice of her mother.

She hugged her back and cherished this warmth. As she still remembered their cold body leaving her alone.

"I will not let you suffer alone, Lia. I will make sure that Micheal does not suffer." If only she knows! Lia nodded with a sigh and stood up.

"Alright mother. Do not act like I am leaving you forever. Sometimes I wonder if you only accepted Micheal so that I will stay with you." She chided when her mother grinned.

"That was the idea behind choosing Damien. But we accepted Michael because you wanted him as your partner." Diana stood up too.

Walking toward the closet and taking out a woolen cape. When Lia stared in confusion,

"Though the south is a warm place, the weather is cold at night. It will take you two days to reach there. You will need it." Her eyes softened as she looked at the smiling face of her mother.

She checked everything Lia had packed so far and then instructed the maids to change a few things.

"I will ask the staff to take these things away. Take care, Lia." Diana patted her cheeks and smiled as she escorted her daughter out.

"Micheal did not come?" Diana frowned and looked around when she did not see her husband or her daughter.

"He is injured." Diana felt pained to see the nonchalance of her daughter, "I have to go now."
