Li Xun halted in his steps. He turned around and looked at Qin Xueyi with a puzzled expression, asking, "Miss Qin, what do you mean by this?"
Based on Li Xun's memories, the Profound Sun Sect seemed to hold an Inner Sect Trial every year.
The purpose of this trial was to have the inner disciples venture into the Profound Sun Mountain Range to hunt demonic beasts. Their contributions to the sect would be measured by the number of beasts they killed.
The top three disciples would be rewarded with techniques, pills, weapons, and other treasures.
At its core, the trial was merely a way for the sect's upper management to provide disciples with combat experience. Participation was not mandatory for every disciple.
What intrigued Li Xun, however, was Qin Xueyi's decision to remind him of this. Could it mean that something unusual would happen in this year's trial?
Calculating the time, this year's Inner Sect Trial seemed to be starting today!
In other words, the trial had already begun.
Each trial lasted for three days, which meant that there were still two days left before this year's trial concluded.
"I don't know the specifics either..." Qin Xueyi shook her head.
Her response wasn't an intentional evasion. She truly didn't know.
In her previous life, when the Profound Sun Sect's Inner Sect Trial encountered trouble, she was only at the late stage of the Qi Condensation Realm and had yet to rise to prominence.

The only plausible explanation was that in another timeline, she had experienced this exact event!

Outside the secret realm, Li Xun summoned his Royal Spirit Boat. Stepping aboard, he entered the cabin, and the Royal Spirit Boat transformed into a streak of light, vanishing into the sky.
Inside the cabin, Li Xun leaned casually by the window and muttered, "System, claim reward!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, a jade slip materialized before him. He quickly grabbed it.
The jade slip was about three inches square, inscribed with four characters: World-Slaughtering Sword Scripture.
"A Mid-grade Heaven Sword technique? I wonder what makes it unique," Li Xun mused as he directed his spiritual sense into the jade slip.
After roughly a quarter of an hour, he withdrew his spiritual sense, exhaling deeply.
It was undeniable: a Mid-grade Heaven Sword technique was terrifyingly powerful. Once mastered, it could cut down stars with a single strike.
The technique was so remarkable that it made Li Xun momentarily consider practicing the Sword himself.
But he quickly dismissed the thought. The path of cultivation abhorred indecision. Just because the World-Slaughtering Sword Scripture seemed impressive now didn't mean he should impulsively switch to Sword cultivation.
What if the system later granted him an Emperor level sword technique? He couldn't keep switching focus!
Shaking off these distracting thoughts, Li Xun stored the jade slip. He decided to visit a sect specializing in Sword cultivation in the future. Perhaps he could find some promising talents to invest in there.

Seated by the window of the Royal Spirit Boat, Li Xun stared in the sect's direction, replaying Qin Xueyi's warning in his mind: The Inner Sect Trial is dangerous.
But what kind of danger? Qin Xueyi hadn't said, leaving him to speculate.
"A demonic sect invasion?"
He pondered. The closest demonic sect to the Profound Sun Sect was the Blood Demon Sect, which was far weaker in comparison.
If the Blood Demon Sect dared to recklessly slaughter Profound Sun Sect disciples, it wouldn't see another sunrise.
"If not the demonic cultivators, could it be the beast clans?"
The Profound Sun Mountain Range did house numerous beasts, but very few of them had achieved significant power.
After all, this was Profound Sun Sect's territory. The elders would never allow powerful beast clans to thrive here. Any beast of consequence was usually eradicated immediately.
Having ruled out demons and beasts, Li Xun couldn't think of any other potential threats.

A hundred miles from the Profound Sun Sect, Li Xun put away his Royal Spirit Boat and flew directly toward the mountain gate.
Before he arrived, several figures in bloodstained white robes caught his attention.
These were Inner Sect disciples, pale-faced and supporting each other as they climbed the mountain. One of them was in particularly dire condition, lying on a stretcher, bandaged to the point of resembling a mummy, and being carried by two fellow disciples.
'Has something really happened?'
Li Xun's heart sank. Just as he was about to approach and inquire, a series of system notifications echoed in his mind:

Suppressing his smile, Li Xun approached the group with a grave expression.
He asked in a deep voice, "Fellow disciples, what happened here? How did things come to this?"
