Who had he provoked? Was this guy the illegitimate son of the Sect Master of Profound Sun Sect?

"Hopefully, they weren't destroyed," Li Xun thought to himself.
He glanced at the Azure Dragon Halberd in his hand.
Though he had anticipated the halberd's formidable power, he hadn't expected it to be this overwhelming.
With a single strike, it obliterated a Profound Elixir Realm cultivator.
And this… wasn't even the full extent of the Azure Dragon Halberd's power.
After all, Li Xun was only at the late stage of the Spirit Meridian realm. A High-grade spiritual treasure like this halberd was typically wielded by elders of the Profound Sun Sect.
"Please have something good," Li Xun prayed, putting the Azure Dragon Halberd and the Cloud Piercing Spear away.
He then stepped off his Royal Spirit Boat and quickly descended into the mountains.
After stowing away the Royal Spirit Boat, Li Xun spread his spiritual sense out over a few kilometers. Soon, a glimmer of light flickered in his eyes as he flew towards a valley.
Within moments, he arrived in the valley and found a glowing red orb in a crevice.
"Another one of these."
Li Xun sighed. This Blood Spirit Orb was identical to the one Liu Sandao had, except the old man's version was much stronger.
From Li Xun's perspective, it was likely a magical treasure. If he took this back to the sect, he could probably exchange it for quite a few high-grade spirit stones.
The issue was, if Liu Sandao's Blood Spirit Orb had already attracted the old man, what kind of trouble would this one bring?
"The Blood Demon Sect is weaker than Profound Sun Sect, but that old man was likely a Blood Demon Sect elder. If I can kill him, even the Blood Demon Sect's Master might not be able to stop me."
With that thought, Li Xun didn't hesitate any longer and stored the Blood Spirit Orb in his storage ring.

About fifteen minutes later, outside a desolate village, Li Xun descended from the sky. He sent a burst of energy into the ground and retrieved the buried storage ring.
As the ring flew into his hand, Li Xun immediately checked its contents with his spiritual sense.
"Over a hundred high-grade spirit stones, three thousand mid-grade spirit stones, and a dozen low-grade spirit stones, along with some pills…"
Seeing the contents, Li Xun couldn't help but smirk.
He had to admit, the old man's wealth as an elder of the Blood Demon Sect was somewhat underwhelming, even less than Li Xun's own.
However, at least the money he spent at the Myriad Treasures Pavilion had been replenished, with a little extra to spare.
Li Xun pulled out the pills from the old man's storage ring, examined them, and then put them back.
They were likely used to cultivate some sort of demonic skill, and thus were useless to him.
"To think a Blood Demon Sect elder would be reduced to only having a magical treasure—this is quite something."
Li Xun placed the old man's storage ring on his finger, then summoned his Royal Spirit Boat, preparing to return to the sect.
Just as he was about to leave:

Under the twilight sky, a small mountain village lay quietly at the foot of a nameless mountain.
At this time of day, one would expect the villagers to have returned from their fields, with smoke rising from every house. But this village was different.
It was too quiet.
The silence was eerie, sending chills down one's spine.
Li Xun walked into the village.
Everywhere he looked, homes were dilapidated, not a single house remained intact.
On the ground, corpses were scattered, and fresh blood was still flowing, enveloping the entire village in a thick stench of blood.
Not far away, a middle-aged woman, clutching a child, lay slumped against a doorframe. Even in death, their faces were frozen in terror.

He understood. The village's fate was likely the result of the old man's actions.
After all, the village was far too close to where he had fought the old man, and the Blood Spirit Orb in the old man's possession was forged from the lives of innocents.
"Compared to this, the Profound Sun Sect's outer disciples' struggles seem trivial. If one can't survive even the outer sect, entering the world of cultivation would only lead to a dead end."

With a sigh, Li Xun quickened his pace, moving through the village. He soon arrived at the village's western edge.
There, a man of average build, ordinary face, and dressed in a gray robe knelt on the ground.
His body was covered in blood, hands buried in the soil, trembling slightly.
Before him lay the bodies of an elderly man and woman.
