When he woke up again, he noticed he was inside what seemed like a big cylinder. He noticed his mouth and nose were covered by an oxygen respirator. Probably to allow him to breathe while inside the cylinder tank that was filled with yellow liquid.
After getting out of it, he was told to dress. And after dressing up, he was guided inside a room where he met the woman in a black suit again. It was the same woman who he met in the white room a while ago.
This time she wasn't wearing sunglasses anymore. He could see her almond-blue eyes. She seemed to be half-Eastian due to her dark brown hair color and half-Westian due to her eye color.
She exuded a mature and aloft demeanor but didn't care about her appearance, he loathed her and wanted to curse her.
When he was heading there, his mind was full of curses toward the people in that place. But when he entered the room, he calmed down. He needed to clear his mind.
He found himself inside a room that seemed like an office.
This time she introduced herself.
"I am Manager Sai Grayhams…"
'Grayhams? Sounds like a Westian name. And Sai, huh? A combination of Westian and Eastian names. I see. So probably my initial guess about her origin was right.'
He didn't really care about her, but he guessed it was better to remember that name from now on.
She was interlocking her fingers under her chin as she asked him how he felt.
'This witch have a nerve to ask about his feeling.'
Dante answered honestly without a second thought. He told her that sometimes there was a slight prickly pain in his head.
Honestly, he felt worried by the fact they opened his head. He didn't know what they did inside it. But when he touched his head, there seemed to be nothing out of the ordinary aside from the slight prickly pain.
It gave him an awful feeling. He wanted to report it to the police as soon as possible.
'This organization should not be allowed to exist. It's very dangerous.'
But he had no idea how to escape there, so he decided to go along with them temporarily.
"I see. The pain is a minor side effect only. Although the operation was a success, that program we installed to you was just an undiscarded sample data after all. Since it's just a sample data, the possibility of it containing glitches and errors that could endanger your life is high, so surviving the operation with only a minor side effect is a big miracle. You should be grateful for your high mental strength. Honestly, I am very surprised."
Dante frowned at her words. Did she think he would be happy by her compliment? Hell no! They gambled his life to such a high-risk operation, how could he be happy about that?!
Gritting his teeth internally, he wanted to attack her at that moment. However, what would happen to him after he did that was the another thing he needed to consider.
Therefore, he had to swallow back his rage.
Maybe noticing his silence, she opened her mouth again. "If you want to ask questions, now is your chance."
He took the liberty of her offer and asked her some questions. The first question was about the side effect and what it may cause to him.
She said he most probably experience memory loss from time to time, but that was only temporary and it would heal in time.
'Damn! Memory loss, huh? A terrifying side effect, but the way she said it seemed like it wasn't a big deal.'
In his mind, he was grinding his teeth in fury. Once again, he needed to gulp down his anger.
'This woman and her organization, I want to make them pay for what they did to me.' He secretly harbored enmity towards them. 'Wait when I get out of here, I will reveal to the world about your existence and make you pay for this inhuman act.'
"I see… a memory loss, huh. That's awful…" Dante said, as if he was an obedient puppy.
"….."
She didn't say anything, but internally, she was surprised by his docileness.
He continued asking.
Next, he asked her about the program she mentioned that they installed in him. She said it was a supercomputer technology that enables him to summon augmented displays like those in VR games.
"What—?"
He was stunned by it.
"The program is called… The System."
"….."
'Did she just say Sys…tem?' He repeated her words in his mind.
Was she talking about the same System he had in mind?
After talking with her, he was required to test the program which required him to stay there for a couple of days. Day by day, he was trained and tested.
As he thought, the 'System' she mentioned was identical to the 'System' in those in fantasy anime and manga.
For some reason, he found himself enamored by it. Who would not when he was one of the many who enjoyed watching those kinds of anime? He could feel the aura of an MC in him whenever he summoned the floating translucent display in the air. He could even see my stats in numerical value.
It was a more realistic feeling than when he was inside a VR game.
To further the test, they added daily missions for him to complete daily. They called it daily missions. Though they were missions, the missions actually consisted of daily exercises only like running, sit-ups, push-ups, and etcetera.
They looked simple, but they were the activities he hated the most in his life. If he failed to do the missions, he would suffer searing pain in his head. One time he tried to ignore it and ended up suffering great pain in his head.
The feeling was comparable to being burned inside.
He didn't want the System to fry his brain, so he started completing the missions even though he was against it.
Anyway, even after completing the daily missions for a couple of days already, he didn't see his stats improving.
Holy cow!
Even those expert researchers who were checking his progress didn't know what to do. So in the end, they marked him as a failure subject. They concluded that the data they installed in him was indeed a trash.
With that, they gave up continuing his training and he was spared by the tests. They let him go after some counseling. Although they freed him, they strictly prohibited him from mentioning to anyone about the existence of the organization.
Damn! That ruins his plan.
Looking at the super advanced technology they were using, it was unwise to think they were lying when they said they could locate him anytime and anywhere.
"….."
'Shit. What can I do now? How to get my revenge on them?'
He didn't know what happened after that, but back to the present, he finally understood what these floating widgets were in front of him.
Still sitting on his bed in his appartment, he checked the time first by dragging in the center the icon of the calendar widget that was on his left side.
It zoomed out and enlarged, then displayed the current date and time.
"I see… so it's not yesterday that the confession happened, but about two weeks ago. Then all shit happened after that.
Ha~!
He let out a big long sigh.
Suddenly, another panel popped in front of the calendar widget.
Showed in there was the list of uncompleted missions.
10 kilometers jog (0/10 km)
100 push-ups (0/100)
100 sit-ups (0/100)
100 pull-ups (0/100)
100 jumps (0/100)
Remaining time - 3:15:01
He saw the time continuously counting down and he only have 3 hours and 15 minutes left! Thankfully, his memories came back before the time limits ran off.
He quickly threw away the blanket and started stretching.
"Dammit! What a hassle!" He complained. Before the leaving their base, he ask them to cancel the missions since it useless anyway. But those bastards, they didn't cancel it! They said it's a waste of their precious time.
"Ah! Fvck!"
Dante had no choice but to complete the exercise against his will.
