Carrying the human over its shoulder, the kobold felt a tinge of irritation. However, it recalled its orders and fell in line with the rest of the group. They traveled through the night before taking a brief halt, during which it set Martha down.
Martha regained consciousness, her eyes darting around as the cool forest air brushed against her skin. Swiftly, she inspected her body, finding herself intact and pain-free. A sigh of relief escaped her, only for her gaze to land on something unsettling: chains were fastened to her hands.
"How amusing," Martha chuckled, a bitter twist to her laughter as she contemplated her unfortunate fate. Was she truly destined to return to the same struggles?
"I was actually starting to miss that place," she commented with a touch of irony, replaying her escape in her mind.
"Roar." The kobold offered her some fruit, and she accepted, savoring the slightly bitter flavor with each bite.
