Chapter 48 - Oasis

"The Scarabs," that's what the rebellion's people were called. They were doing everything necessary for the impending war. So far, the best they had achieved was discovering the whereabouts of the Lunmins. With this information, they found out that three of them were on the battlefield against the Wairdors, while the other two remained within the empire to manage affairs.

This complicated matters as they had to deal with all of them simultaneously, uncertain whether the weapon could be activated from a distance. If even one of the Lunmins survived, they could activate the weapon for revenge, potentially taking half of Egypt with them.

Inmo and his group had been in the base for a few days. During this time, he ended up spending more time with Satiah, who was acting as his guide. Her previous role had been managing trade in the port city, but she was replaced because the higher-ups wanted her to stay close to Inmo to strengthen their ties.

Satiah understood what the higher-ups wanted, so she tried to win Inmo's favor. He noticed her change in personality and advised her not to do so. He disliked fake people, especially since he could easily see through their facades.

She and Inmo came to an understanding that she would be herself in front of others. Just like before, she and Diana remained friends, growing even closer. This was mainly because Diana lacked someone like Satiah on the Themyscira island. There, she was seen as someone to be protected, not as a regular person. This had always created an invisible barrier between her and her people. So, this personal interaction was a first for her.

Diana could be friends with Luffy, Franky, and even Merlin, it was different with Satiah. She could discuss things with Satiah that she couldn't with the others. This closeness grew, and since Satiah had no friends, she reciprocated Diana's friendship.

Inmo didn't think much about this friendship, but as time passed with Satiah consistently by their side, he eventually accepted her as part of the group, at least while they were there. She could be one of them.

On the battlefield, things were progressing more calmly, and there were many rumors about the war's conclusion. Everyone was on high alert, even the rebellion had no idea what was happening. Suddenly, the Lunmins, who had been quite active in recent years, stopped being so.

However, the rebellion soon discovered what was going on. The Lunmins had located the Martian's ship and stole it. This meant they could soon restore the messaging system and maybe even fully repair the ship. This pushed everyone to their limits. The rebellion and the Wairdors spared no effort in searching for the Lunmins' hiding place all over Egypt, and days later, they found it.

The Lunmins were concealed in "Oasis," the empire's largest war city. It was built as the last line of defense, guarded by massive walls and thousands of soldiers armed with the empire's advanced weaponry.

The Scarabs had no choice but to attempt to invade Oasis. They were racing against time to reach the Thanagarians before they could communicate with the Thanagarian empire.

Back at the base, there was a flurry of activity as they prepared to leave. They were about to join the Wairdors to attack Oasis.

Inmo and his group were in their casual clothes, but this time only Diana was wearing her battle attire. At least this time, Merlin cast a spell on Inmo and Franky's clothes to keep them intact until the end of the war, unlike the last time.

Things were going well until the group met the Wairdors.

The leadership of both sides was in one of the military tents, finalizing plans to initiate the invasion. Suddenly, one of the Wairdor commanders started yelling and clutching his head before fainting. Everyone went on high alert.

This fainting commander was one of the Martians. The other Martians contacted Merkare telepathically to explain that it was nothing serious, but they needed to withdraw for a while. The Martians and Merkare worked together to calm the situation, and it was effective, as everyone settled down. The Martians left the tent to have a discussion.

Meanwhile, in another tent, the three Martians were having a meeting. The one who had fainted was now standing again. They talked for a while, with the fainting Martian explaining what had happened. He had tried to enter the mind of the stranger who came with the Scarab but had been attacked and knocked unconscious before he could do anything. They knew the strength of the stranger, but they hadn't expected such a powerful telepathic ability.

Luckily, it seemed the stranger didn't blame them for attempting to read their mind. Otherwise, he could have killed them even in a room full of people.

This topic eventually concluded, and they remained on guard against Luffy, but they were grateful to have him as an ally in the upcoming fight against the Thanagarians.

In the vast and merciless Egyptian desert, a haunting scene unfolds, where the scorching sands and cloudless sky create an atmosphere of oppression and uncertainty. In this battlefield, a mighty army gathers, their banners fluttering under the blazing sun, as they prepare for a daring assault against a city protected by formidable walls.

The golden sands stretch as far as the eye can see, challenging and inhospitable, as if the desert itself is observing the unfolding events. The wind blows with constant intensity, carrying the distant echo of war drums and the metallic sound of armor being adjusted. Weapons gleam in the intense light, a mix of spears, swords, and bows, ready to be wielded by determined warriors.

As the army arranges itself in disciplined formations, all gazes converge upon the distant city. Its walls, towering and impenetrable, stand as symbols of the empire, housing the pinnacle of the empire's military resources.

The desert's heat is unforgiving, testing the physical and mental endurance of the soldiers. Heatwaves distort vision, creating fleeting illusions on the horizon. Nevertheless, the army remains resolute. Leaders deliver impassioned speeches, reinforcing the importance of victory and the ideals that guide them.

As the sun slowly traverses the sky, the army begins to march, their ranks forming an impressive line that cuts through the sandy landscape. The thunderous sound of feet hitting the sand resonates like distant thunder, echoing the determination of each soldier. Flags flutter, a mosaic of colors against the desert's monotone backdrop.

Approaching the city walls, tension reaches its zenith. Plasma rays can be seen being fired at the enemy onslaught.

The desert battlefield becomes an epic stage of conflict, where the fate of the city and the invading army intertwine. The silent sands bear witness to stories of courage, sacrifice, and determination unfolding beneath the scorching sun.

A people who have suffered and bled under the tyranny from above are finally on the brink of their revenge. Blood will be repaid with blood.
