Chapter 23 - Gods Among Us (Part 10)

The final preparations for war were underway, but this time only some of the gods would participate, as not all of them were in favor of this war. Those who disagreed chose to remain in their domains without interfering with the humans, including some of the most powerful Greek gods like Hestia and Hades, who decided to stay in the Underworld.

Zeus was not pleased with this news, but now he had to focus on one enemy at a time. Once he dealt with Inmo, these disobedient gods would face his wrath.

Currently, Zeus was in the throne room with his main generals, Athena and Ares. Athena was trying to convince Zeus to set a trap to capture Inmo, while Ares was urging Zeus to march upon the immortal city and destroy everything in their path using their numerical advantage. Zeus decided to follow Athena's advice, so he declared a duel against Inmo in the ancient location of Mount Órtis. He knew that Inmo's pride wouldn't allow him to flee, so he sent his messenger Hermes to deliver the challenge. Hours later, Hermes returned with the positive response from Inmo. He accepted the challenge and would be at Mount Ótris in two days at dawn. Zeus didn't say anything; everyone knew what they had to do.

At the ancient location of Mount Ótris, there was a large empty ground with some craters and ruins that had long lost their brilliance. A place forgotten by time, but today, it would be the site of a divine battle, just like in the past. At dawn, the gods arrived on the field – Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Ares, Artemis, Athena, and Apollo – all clad in their armors and armed for war, with serious expressions awaiting their enemy. A few seconds later, a shooting star cut through the morning sky and fell in front of them, creating a small crater from which Inmo emerged, floating and standing above the gods.

With his impassive and expressionless temperament, he looked at Zeus and asked, "Why do you seek death, son of Cronos?" Zeus, who heard this, flew into a rage and roared, "YOU INSOLENT MORTAL! TODAY, I WILL RECLAIM THE GLORY THAT WAS TAKEN FROM ME LONG AGO. I SHOULD HAVE KILLED THE TITANS; I SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE KING OF THIS WORLD AND RULED OVER THE HUMANS!" Sensing that the battle was about to begin, the other gods around Zeus distanced themselves, allowing the fight to commence.

Zeus took out the maternal box, and it floated behind his back while occasionally releasing bolts of lightning. He then started gathering his lightning power using his weapon. However, Inmo, who saw Zeus preparing for this, didn't remain idle. He unleashed a burst of speed, appearing in front of Zeus and delivering a punch to his head. Yet, the maternal box, which had been quiet until then, suddenly appeared in front of Inmo's punch, stopping the attack without suffering any damage. The shockwaves destroyed everything around Zeus, but he remained unharmed. He seized the moment to release his concentrated lightning attack right at Inmo's chest, sending him flying meters and meters away. The lightning attempted to pierce his chest until the strange energy pierced through his body, leaving a large charred hole where his heart was. Inmo's body was dragged across the ground by the residual force of the attack until he lay motionless on the ground. Silence spread across the battlefield, and the other gods were astonished by the sight before them.
