ALISTAIR WAS running late as he dashed through countless of hallways, trying his best to reach the meeting hall before it was too late.
He slammed the door open with a bang! As all eyes turned to him.
"Mr. Perfect is late!" Hazel smirked as she placed her hands on her hips.
Hazel was a gorgeous woman with navy blue dyed hair that reached her hips.
She was as usual, wearing tons of jewelry that sparkled in the light as her thin lips curled into a mocking smirk.
She was wearing a white hoodie with blue denim jeans.
"I thought you were dead! I even ordered flowers for your burial!" Elijah dramatically leaned on hazel, who fell to the ground with him.
Elijah was someone that Alistair considered as the most annoying human being to ever exist, alongside Hazel.
He had bubblegum pink dyed hair with tons of chains and a black blazer with a white button up shirt.
Everyone ignored them as his boss narrowed his eyes at him.
"Why are you late?" Alistair averted his gaze before shouting.
"Elijah and Hazel aren't wearing their assigned belts!"
Their boss's eyes widen before his attention went to the two imps.
"Where are your team belts!?" Elijah gave an offended gasp and Hazel fainted in his arms.
"I am wearing it!" "Me too!" Both shouted at the same time.
"I don't see them!" Alistair added as he crossed his arms.
"Here!" Elijah lifted his shirt, exposing his abs as a tight belt was buckled around it.
"…"
"Here! Me too!" Hazel lifted her shirt.
"No!" Elijah quickly covered her with his shirt as everyone blankly stared at the two buffoons.
"Never mind…" Their boss quickly averted his gaze and fixed it upon Alistair.
"Alistair, do you know the purpose of today's meeting?"
Alistair just stood there but his lips pursed into a thin line before he let out an awkward chuckle.
Indeed, He did not know.
His boss was not impressed as he heaved a deep sigh.
"It's about 'The Thorns' " Alistair's eyes widen as he quickly took a seat.
"Continue"
"Well, as we were saying before we got interrupted" His boss began as he opened his laptop. "All we know is that we have a victim that is targeted by them"
His boss once again got interrupted when Elijah raised his hand.
"… Yes?" Elijah sheepishly smiled before continuing. "The victim got killed yesterday"
"…" Everyone stared at the pink haired male as silence overcame them.
"What…?" His boss slowly asked as he clinched his hand around the wooden board that he was holding, snapping it in half.
"Elijah… Isn't that something… that you shouldn't be saying with such… nonchalance…?" Sam's statement sounded more like a question.
Sam, or Sammy, was one of their best detectives… and also the most popular amongst the women.
His brown hair was slicked back, revealing his bright eyes as they shined with a curious glint.
He had a rather tan complexion as his gold rimmed glasses were on the bridge of his nose.
"No…" Elijah scrunched his nose before looking around.
"We'll continue this meeting tomorrow" Their boss muttered as he sat on his seat.
Everyone was leaving one by one when a girl stood next to the leader.
"Don't worry… I believe I have a plan" Their boss looked up at the girl.
Her short, black hair was tied into a ponytail, fallen strands framing her face perfectly as her cold gaze stayed on him.
"Alright"
--
Alistair flinched when someone patted his back so hardly that it made him stumble forward.
Looking back, his eyes narrowed at the culprit.
Sam.
Sam was grinning at him. His white teeth on full display as he placed his hands on his hips.
His long, beige coat was reaching up to his knees as the white button up shirt he was wearing was neatly buttoned up and tucked under his pants.
His glasses were currently hanging off from his shirt as the gold shined with the light.
"A nice little greeting would've sufficed" Alistair glared at the cheeky male in front of him. Clearly upset at the hard pat.
"No, a greeting does not satisfy my needs to annoy my friends" Sam crossed his arms, his grin not once wavering.
Alistair was about to snap back at him but a voice stopped both of them.
"Boss is worried about everything while both of you are arguing like children" Both of them looked back at the female.
She was the same girl that comforted their boss in the meeting room.
Her long, black hair was tied in a high ponytail as a black tank top adorned her figure.
She was currently glaring at both of them as if they were the stupidest people in the entire world.
Sam grinned at her, folding his hands on his chest, mocking her pose.
"How are you so brave to do that?" Elijah whispered as he stood behind the terrifying female.
Alistair watched as both of the cousins stared at Sam as if he was some deadly beast ready to slaughter them.
"Stop messing around and come inside" The black haired female sneered, stepping inside the meeting room.
"But didn't we just go inside?" Hazel asked, brows furrowing.
"I don't know but it better be good" Elijah huffed, grabbing his cousin by the collar and dragging her inside with him.
"…" Alistair sighed and walked in along with Sam.
----
"I wanted the other's to be out before I decide to discuss this matter with you" Their boss explained as he looked through all of files of different types of victims.
"Why?" Hazel asked, crossing her arms as she leaned back in her chair, making herself as comfortable as possible.
Everyone stared at her before they averted their gazes, not at all surprised at the question.
"I do not want this matter to go around and spread throughout the city" Their boss briefly responded before opening up a projector.
Alistair's eyes stared at the projector for a little too long as his eyes looked at the picture displayed for everyone.
It's a picture of the criminal that Alistair couldn't get a hold of.
Even after a year of chasing after this criminal, Alistair failed every single one of his attempts.
The projector displayed the picture of the leader of the famous gang of all.
Though, nobody knew his actual name, he did go by the codename.
Rhoswen Vaillant.
Rhoswen was a name feared by almost the whole city.
The ones that did not fear him had been brutally murdered and their faces have been hung up on the cruel villain's walls.
Well… everyone but Alistair…
For some unknown reason, the young leader knows that Alistair does not fear him.
But he was still alive…
It didn't make sense for him.
Was it to not raise suspicion?
Was it for a purpose to keep his sinister plan moving forward?
Or…
Alistair frowned at the thought, his eyes straying back to the projector in front of him.
'Or was it for something else…?'
