Chapter 39 - Return

The fire at the Li family's residence burned until dawn before it was completely extinguished.

Not only were all their possessions lost, but even the walls had collapsed in the blaze.

The once majestic courtyard in the military village had turned into a charred wasteland.

When other families experienced a fire, they could salvage some belongings, but when the Li family's house caught fire, they lost everything except their lives.

It was a devastating blaze!

Thinking about the destroyed house and belongings, not to mention the Li family members who were too distraught to even cry, even the people in the military village felt a deep sense of sympathy.

"How did the Li family's fire start?"

"I heard Old Madam Li kept shouting that it was Li Wuya who set the fire, didn't she?"

"Don't just blabber here. Old Master Li refuted that and said Old Madam Li was talking nonsense and that the fire had nothing to do with Li Wuya."

"These two are interesting. One says it's Li Wuya, and the other says it's not. What's the truth?"

"Who cares if it is or isn't? It's their family's business anyway."

"If it was Li Wuya, that girl is ruthless. But they brought it upon themselves by being too overbearing. Even a cornered rabbit will bite."

Old Master Li sat by the roadside, looking numb as he listened to the discussions of the people around him, who were filled with condemnation for his wife.

The fire had indeed been started by Li Wuya.

He and his wife had both seen it happen, and Li Wuya hadn't hidden her intentions. She had set the house on fire right in front of them.

But he couldn't admit it. Moreover, he had to prevent his wife from revealing it to others.

Amidst the raging flames, the image of Li Wuya's sinister smile remained etched in his mind.

"The house was built by my father. Since we're not living there anymore, it has no reason to exist."

"If you continue to make trouble, it won't just be the house next time; it'll be people."

Atif  ithits no doubt that if that girl dared to harm the Li family members, she would be a heartless villain.

The Li family's situation became the hottest topic in the military village, with most discussions centring on whether Li Wuya had indeed set the fire.

Meanwhile, at Ye Mo's residence, Li Wuya was surrounded by Jin Yue'e, Li Erya, and Li Qilang, who looked at her with various expressions—concern, disbelief, and admiration.

"Don't look at me like that; I'm scared."

"You're scared too? How could you set fire then? Do you even care about your reputation? With your fierce temperament, if this gets out, no one will dare to marry you in the future."

Jin Yue'e tapped Li Wuya's forehead, and at this point, she couldn't afford to grieve anymore. Her youngest daughter had gone too far, daring to set the house on fire without a word.

With the head of the family's fate uncertain, she had to keep a close eye on this girl to prevent her from doing anything outrageous that would make her unmarriageable in the future.

While Li Erya felt a sense of satisfaction regarding the burning of the Li family's house, she strongly disapproved of Li Wuya's actions, thinking her younger sister was thoughtless.

"Wuya, didn't I tell you when you broke Uncle Er's leg before not to be so brazen? Why didn't you listen?"

Seeing her eldest daughter reprimanding her younger daughter, Jin Yue'e didn't say more. She thought her eldest daughter was sensible and would remind her to keep an eye on her younger sister.

But in the next moment, her eldest daughter said, "You can take revenge on the Li family however you want, but the precondition is not to implicate yourself. Now, go to the village and see how they're discussing you."

Listening to her eldest daughter's words while giving Li Wuya an intense look, Jin Yue'e was stunned for a moment, and her worries deepened.

Had she been neglecting her children?

In her impression, her eldest daughter had always been responsible and well-behaved. When did her personality become so strong?

"Erya, don't scold Wuya anymore. She did it out of anger, and fortunately, she set the fire first. Otherwise, if she hadn't, I would have done it."

Li Qilang didn't think much about it and completely sided with Li Wuya. Seeing the misfortune befalling the Li family, he thought today was a good day to eat a few extra bowls of rice to celebrate.

"Wuya, don't worry. If Qilang and the others dare to speak ill of you in the village, I'll beat them up every time I see them. I guarantee they'll end up looking like pigs, and their parents won't recognize them."

As she watched her fierce younger son, Jin Yue'e's mood grew even heavier, and her hatred for the Li family deepened.

Her children used to be so well-behaved and obedient, but look at what the Li family had turned them into!

The Li family hadn't seen the end of her.

Was she too weak as a mother, allowing her children to be bullied and their personalities to change?

Then, the people in the military village witnessed Jin Yue'e rushing to the Li family's house during meal times. She stood by the road, loudly recounting the mistreatment that the Li family had subjected Li Changsen to, from a young age to the present.

She mentioned how Old Master Li had made Li Changsen replace him for military service when his leg had long since healed, how Old Master Li and Old Madam Li had used the money earned through Li Changsen's hard work to arrange marriages for Li Changlin and Li Changmu, but not for Li Changsen.

She even revealed how Old Madam Li had secretly withheld food from the main house and provided extra meals for the second and third households.

With the Li family's house burned down, many people from the village came to help rebuild. As a result, there were quite a few people from the Li family present.

Initially, the women from the Li family engaged in verbal clashes with Jin Yue'e, but eventually, they started avoiding her as soon as they saw her.

There was no way they could outmatch her!

Although Jin Yue'e had not practicebeenrtial arts, she had been taking physical enhancement supplements, and her energy was immense. Her voice was also loud, making her presence overpowering when she confronted Old Madam Li, her daughter-in-law, and others.

In just a few days, the talk in the military village shifted from Li Wuya setting the fire to the Li family's favoritism and unfair treatment. The discussion about Li Wuya's actions almost disappeared.

Watching Jin Yue'e's soaring combativeness, Li Wuya, Li Erya, and Li Qilang exchanged puzzled glances.

"Did Mom experience something traumatic?"

She used to be quite g's definitely been provoked by the Li family!"

"The Li family is so annoying. Don't let me run into them, or I'll beat them up every time I see them. Look at what they've turned our mother into!"

Equally surprised was Li Changsen, who had returned after his disappearance.

Staring at the Li family's ruined courtyard and the fiercely scolding Jin Yue'e, Li Changsen struggled to make sense of it all.

What was happening?

While Jin Yue'e was passionately berating Li Changlin's wife, she suddenly heard cries of astonishment from behind.

"Brother Changsen!"

Jin Yue'e's body stiffened instantly. Upon hearing someone call for Li Changsen again, she slowly turned her rigid body to look behind her. When she saw that Li Changsen was standing a few meters away, she burst into tears.
