At the office, after making it up the stairs without incident, they found a good system for managing the interminable phone trees. Putting a call on speakerphone, and then muting the mic meant they could continue to talk and work on the video footage while listening for the next time they made it through a queue.
Kyle blinked, tired of constantly staring at the video screen.
"I've been thinking while I've been sitting here in a daze," he said. "Not just about the tapes, but with the investigation generally. The one thought I've had is trying to find another angle of attack on my father."
Kyle must be desperate if he was seriously considering going back to Hawke. "...Are you sure that's something you want to try?"
"Compared to talking to dangerous criminals? Absolutely! At least the worst he'll do is yell at me."
"And you can give as good as you get there," agreed Andrea.
