Andrea almost considered taking the stairs rather than the elevator after how many times she had been cornered in one recently. The lobby was quiet enough at this hour of the afternoon that she felt that she would probably be safe.
The trip up to the public defender's office was blissfully uneventful. Madison was waiting for her in Andrea's office with her own copy of the research.
"Thanks, Mads," Andrea said, taking a seat and flicking through the file. "I appreciate you helping with the end-around on Kyle there. I don't think I would have been able to shake him if we didn't force the issue."
"Of course, Andi," said Madison. "I'm always here to help you with that kind of thing. I've got all sorts of ways of giving guys the slip when they're taking too much of an interest."
